Why do people even book airbnb? sounds like a death trap you would need to buy insurance for in order to not be used. Why do people use this shit if it's so bad? I'm thinking I'm /hotel pilled/ now.

    ???
because hotels are overly taxed in some places making airbnbs at least 25% cheaper

After watching this I don't see how anyone could trust airbnb's over what a hotel has in standards. Creepy, do americans actually use this shit?

Well, if you're looking for any reason to give a shit at all, there are white people who are mistaken for black based on their names.

          >first names like Tyrone, Maurice, Darrell
          >last names like Harris, Williams, Jackson
          >names are very clearly of European origin
          >but they're very commonly used by black Americans
Imagine being white and being punished for something you have no control over. Now that's injustice.

Then again, I honestly don't expect the people around here to have much of an attention span, so it's not like anyone was ever going to finish the video.

        >airbnb wont insure the landlords or evict squatters!
        dont care
        >airbnb wont check if the alarms and sprinklers are working!
What the frick are you doing that sprinklers and CO alarms are a concern for you? Not once in my life have i had these shits go off.
        >but the landlords are racist!
Wonder why they'd make that type of decision after airbnb says they wont insure them for shit...
        >it drives up rent for HUSTLE AND BUSTLE gays
couldn't give a single frick about em
        >but you have renters taking up multiple apartments and leasing them as airbnbs!
        whats wrong with entrepreneurial landlords?
        >airbnb is taking a cut off of these crooked landlords!
they cut from every rental, they just don't check if it's an illegal sublet or not, but then again that's not my problem and I couldn't give a frick that it inconveniences citygays

If you're not a literal homosexual or unrestrained animal then this is a great ad for renting an airbnb over a traditional hotel.

            >hurr durr you're alive because they were functional, even if your experiences mean you've never once needed them to survive an exposure/fire that never happened!
Yeah, your argument is pretty moronic. Kinda turns out you don't need sprinklers if you're not moronic and don't start housefire after housefire.

idk about that, every city i've looked at had cheaper hotel rooms than airbnbs. even if they were not cheaper, the hotels usually were cleaner, in a better part of the town and had at least a meal added to the package.

airbnbs may have been affordable a while back but now all these small operators are trying to rip off tourists to pay for their rent/mortgage asap

My friend threw a party at an airbnb and there was one bathroom and the entire party had like 150 people. People started pissing and shitting outside and the cops showed up. It was in his name and he got a $12,000USD fine and spent the night in jail. Yeah, frick airbnb. Go trash a hotel room and pay like $200

    >"Not muh heckin black people!?"
I worked in a hotel on a US army base in Europe. blacks were the most disgusting and worst guests ever. I swear their skin color tells them never to flush toilets and use toilet paper. They would use the hand towels more often than not to wipe their ass after shitting.

Doesn't matter though, I usually put their toothbrushes in it if it was real bad.

    fricking love airbnbs
    >half the price of hotel
    >will book whole apartment unless the owner is an old person, then i'll stay with them and they usually love to cook for you + share stories
    >has washer, dryer, etc.
    >each place is unique and different with charm, doesn't feel like a stale fricking hotel room
    >i remember every single airbnb i've been to (50+) and they usually always bring back good memories. even the ones that were slightly deceptive still have funny memories about it years later
it's the best, god bless airbnb

also, if you go to any ski resort, airbnbs are so cheap in comparison it'd blow your mind.

depends on the country/city now I find. For me my rules generally are
    >if it's below 4.7 stars with 20 reviews don't book
    >self check in (can't be arsed with flight delays making a host wait)
    >cozy factor

I always prefer airbnbs but will go hotels too if they're cheap and good location.

Get a whole place to yourself. Feel like a local and don't have to deal with hotel reception. Can bring home whoever and no issues. Have a kitchen. Have a washing machine.

Airbnb should be limited to duplexes or apartments. I hate it when some motherfricker buys a house with the intent to rent it out. I’ve been outbid on several houses this year because some “property company” comes in with a cash offer $80k over asking then you see that same house on Airbnb the next week.

Yes I’ve seen this happen. My gf currently works for a company that does this and we’re now trying to do the same thing.

That has nothing to do with airbnb though, that problem is happening everywhere in the US.

        Anonymous

It isn't limited to Airbnb but you can't say it is not involved at all, nor is the issue limited to the US. The massive amount of homes that are purchased by companies or by individuals with the intent to rent indefinitely is hurting those who want to buy a home instead of living as renters. Arguably, the primary reason that birth rates are declining has to do with the inability for younger people to establish a permanent home.

Chances are that "property company" is affiliated with BlackRock, not AirBnB
