Germans backpackers are mostly stuck up rich kids who put themselves in situations they are unprepared for. They are notoriously shit working on farms. Very often they arrive expecting it to be some idyllic experience and they are shocked to find its hard, dirty work that doesn't pay well. Also they never stay in one farm for long. Many of them think they can just change farms after 2/3 weeks and continue travelling. Farmers in Australia hate them for this reason, they are usually the last people to get hired and the first to get fired. When you try and explain to them the reality of the situation (i.e. that Australians don't care about their gay little adventures and want a stable workforce) they get pissy at you and just ignore what you said. German girls tend to be very attractive by conventional standards (blonde hair and blue eyes) so they have guys hitting on them multiple times per day. They will always assume you are trying to fuck them and will make it obvious at all times that they despise you unless you are attractive, rich or have some kind of authority. I can understand why they do this, but they are extremely difficult to have around because of it.
Basically keeping the place clean and tidy, which is harder than it sounds. Alot of residents (almost always French people) have no respect for the accommodation, staff or other residents. Which for me isn't necessarily a bad thing because it's more cleaning and I get paid by the hour. The problem is several staff are incompetent or lazy and corruption is endemic. For example two 18 year old girls who came here just after high school were offered full time well paid jobs that didn't even exist for no other reason other than they were attractive and people wanted to fuck them. The irony Is that alot of people respect the fact they are so honest about valuing nepotism over merit. It's not something that worries me I just want to get paid, that stuff isn't my responsibility.

I've experienced the opposite. As in literally every point. Germans are rich enough that even the poor kids travel so they're not stuck up. They understand what a farm is and what physical labour entails. They stick around, often coming back the next season. Farmers love them. They get hired easily. They are basically the second most loved by farmers after the Estonians.
French are useless cunts. Swedes are usually ok. English and Irish are not bad. Scots are whinging morons. Italians are like French but not as bad. Americans don't exist. Canadians are good. South Americans are either extremely spoilt rich kids who think farming means telling the workers what to do or are desperate for any visa out of their shithole country. Koreans just stick with whatever exploitative labour hire boss man holds their passport. Japs are weird and don't speak English.
But then I work on farms not in Sydney hostels so what would I know.
Only time I met a Canadian was when I was in cadets and we were fundraising for the RSL in the city, it was a boomer who came up to us asking how much this medal thing was (it was like $50) and then he tried to fucking haggle over it, of course as cadets we were like 15 and he got pissy at us because we said we couldn't give it to him for $20 cheaper. Then some old guy from the army who was with us came up and told him to go away. Obviously a one off but funny looking back at it

Not really qualified to answer this but it should be fine, cities like Sydney aren't going to have backwater shitholes for hostels, if you can afford it try to airbnb it but don't worry about getting raped or getting cholera in a hostel if that's all you can afford.

If you're a white American then the only thing that will happen to you is that you'll probably be the butt of a few jokes, we joke around a lot and we take the piss out of people, but its generally seen as having some fun. If you're a latino then you'll probably be a curiosity and if you're black you'll get some stares.

Sydney nightlife is good, mostly clubbing, you might get lucky and go to a rave or a festival. As someone who lives near Sydney it pains me to say but Melbourne is way better for nightlife and that kinda stuff. I would suggest getting out of Sydney for at least a day and travelling out to the Blue Mountains or maybe down to Jervis Bay area if you like nature.
From which country do girls have the smelliest feet?
Australia is supposed to be flooded with chinks. Is this true? And can you use your jbw card to bang chink females at the hostel?
