nothing wrong with Turkey its a beautiful country with lots of cool stuff to visit, pic related is Phasellis a greco-roman colony by the sea, the ancient city still has aqueducts and arenas visible, I visited it with my dad when we took a boat from a mid beach resort of Kemer (full of russian tourists), I saw a big fucking sea turtle when going to shore on an inflatable boat, beautiful
also great food even if you just opt for all-inclusive hotels know how to keep people coming with their families, in Antalya region I also visited St. Nicholas (santa claus inspiration) tomb and a giant greco-roman amphitheatre at Demre

Albania is on the cusp of becoming a popular traveling destination. Scott's Cheap Flights mentioned the country, and I have seen more and more travel vloggers talking about it as well. It's a beautiful, affordable, and friendly place for Americans in particular. Bonus points if you bring up Bill Clinton. Albanians are the kinds of people who you want to be on good terms with because they treat their friends well. Just don't try to fuck any of the girls there or piss anybody off, since they still practice blood feuds.
If you want to get your feet wet id visit Amsterdam/Paris/London. If you have money check out Switzerland/Austria/Italy instead

The first time I traveled alone I spent most of my time being lost and lonely. I’d recommend Rome because even when you’re lost there’s something interesting around every corner and the Italians are pretty nice and easy to talk to. Definitely a relatively un intimidating place to start.
I remember my parents when to Rome on their honeymoon and it was a complete shithole. My father told me how the train from Switzerland went into Milano and it was like night and day. People shit in holes through the train, armed guards with dogs came onto the train to check all of the passengers for tickets, trash everywhere, Colosseum smelled like urine, total fucking dump. Switzerland was paradise, not an iota of litter and people actually chased plastic bags down the street just to throw it away. This was in 2003 of course, much has probably changed.

For a 19 year old the correct answer is to do some sort of organised tour in Europe. Check out topdeck or contiki. You can do anything from 5 days to 20 and see the highlights of Europe, you will do it with other people your age (when you call to book you can ask how many other people are on the tour, how many girls / guys and how old to make sure it's a good mix & age range)
They then take you around in a bus, you spend a day in each spot so you get an idea of each place and where you'd like to go back to, you get to stay in hostels and because it's an organised tour it's usually Aussies, kiwis, Americas and Canadians, plus it's fun and super easy to hook up. Despite being a bong myself I did a couple of these when I was younger and they were excellent fun
