I'm thinking about going to an Amerindian reservation. Do they discriminate against Black men?

Anyone ever been to an Amerindian reservation? How was it? would you go again? I'm thinking about going there this summer. Do they discriminate against Black men?

I live near some, and frick no. All of them are filled to the brim with welfare monkeys and drug addicts. All work a barely livable job often just paying some mexicans to do it and have 0 motivation for anything that isn't making a quick buck on their sob story they've rehearsed thousands of times.

No they aren't, the ones that got out and need to work at a casino are but they will not give you the time of day unless you are the ideal model rich as shit and can take them away to a life of luxury. Otherwise they don't like outsiders all that much as no one wants people to rat on the shit they do on their land.

OP would be best just going to Arizona, at least once you realize "huh that's it" you can go see the grand canyon and some other shit.

This. Go to Window Rock or Tuba City or Peach Springs, it doesn't matter where, the are pretty much the same, and you'll realize these places are just a cluster of trailer homes surrounding a gas station- or if its a town of importance, a dollar store. You might be interested in their tribal museum but once you've done that and realized the rest of the place is depressing AF you can go to a national park instead. Arches, Zion and the Grand Canyon are all worth it.

Yup, once I moved out to AZ by driving I really wanted to see some Native American shit that I only heard or saw from traveling events. Nothing like realizing you're basically going to visit poor rural people who have no motivation other than guilt tripping to sell you shitty chinese made beads or shit the found that they put in a rock tumbler for a day.

So the Navajos do not look like most of the other indians in the continental US who look much more like Mexicans. The reason is they were actually a native Alaskan people, those tend to have more Asian features, that migrated to the southwest fairly recently (about 500 years ago). The language they speak is similar to tribes in central Alaska. Most are much rounder than the women in the picture though.

There’s a bunch but they tend to be impoverished, look on google maps. Their ancestors were kicked off the good land and now they all live in shitty areas.

I was just in Browning Montana, I would have driven right through it if I didnt need a tire. I hitchhiked into town with my tire and people were very friendly, good deal on the tire install (bought the tire from whitey at a markup), and a nice indian lady drove me back to my car, pointed out all the sites, gave me local history, refused cash.

My point is the place is shit but the people can be legit. They appreciated my supporting local business.

Black guy here, 22 , 6 foot 3. They will and do discriminate. I got told off and ignored several times trying to explain to them the struggle our people go through and they just rolled they eyes or walked away. Also several times they followed me around the store like I was going to steal everything and didn't even let me slide on my purchases when I was a few bucks short

Are you black OP? I'm white but I live in a town next to large indian reservations. There's an awful lot of alcoholism, drug abuse and domestic violence on the reservation. They drink malt liquor and throw the bottles out the window. They're lazy high school dropouts who live off welfare and handouts and drink all day then fight with or steal from each other so you'd probably feel right at home. They put on a good face for the casino but the normal streets where the indians all look like shit.

Indians in my experience are pretty indifferent and insular, it doesn't matter what race you are, if you aren't one of them, they don't really want you looking around in their community except for patronizing or working at a tribal owned business.

I volunteered in the ER of Rosebud, South Dakota for a whole summer.
When I wasn't in the hospital I drove around and saw amazing, beautiful, desolate landscapes.
I had to drive an hour to load the car up on beer since alcohol was banned and drink it warm in the dorm.
I mainly saw the poor and mentally weak who were borderline braindead. Indistinguishable from our obese brothers from the southern border.
One girl presented to the ER with bilateral, mild armpit rashes.
    >Have you been doing anything different recently such as trying a new deodorant?
    uhhh
    >Do you think that could be related?
    uhhhh
    >Maybe go and try a new deodorant
    >uuhhh kay
Another time an elder presented in cardiac arrest and the nurses cried. Never seen an ER nurse cry before
The staff was cool. The anesthetist was cool and invited me over for poker and booze. He said they work 1 month on the reservation and then get to go home for a month. We played with a based old indian

      >How was it?
It was OK for me but depressing when you think about the Indians.
      >would you go again?
Yeah, if I wanted to do those same attractions again such as Four Corners, Monument Valley, and casinos.
      >I'm thinking about going there this summer.
      Do it.
      >Do they discriminate against Black men?
How tf should I know? I'm not black and I never saw a black person on a rez. They just want your money. If you don't act like a nog, you'll be fine. I knew a mulatto who was employed by tribal PD as a cop for a few years. He left because he couldn't handle dealing with drunken child molesters every day.

Yeah, they ain't sharp. But much of it probably has to do with being FAS babies.

    Don't do it OP.
Reservation officers outside of huge, wealthy tribes are notorious for being dicks.
    >No state oversight (99% of oversight is done at the state level)
    >Leeway from feds even when they violate rules because muh indian
    >Those that don't have casinos pull people over for minor/fake infractions to generate revenue
    >If a tribal member gets into a fight with you they will help the tribal member first
    >Notoriously shitty businesses
If you want to go, stick to the large, tourist friendly tribes like the Navajo, and avoid the poor tribes like the Blackfeet nation.

I live in southern Utah. The towns in Navajo Nation are literally the most depressing places I've ever been. They look like the bad neighborhoods of major US cities (think Skid Row in LA) but without a city attached. They're not as dangerous, but just as run down (if not worse). There's litter all over the place, drunk homeless people in every parking lot, and all the housing (excluding the occasional brand new trailer home) looks decrepit. This even stretches right up to the scenic, touristy places like Shiprock and Canyon de Chelly. Worst of all is the driving - every time I've crossed Navajo Nation at night I've nearly been run off the road multiple times by crazy (presumably drunk) drivers.

I live near another indian reservation and its the same thing. They don't keep the registration up to date on their cars. They don't fix shit when it breaks. They drink. They take the back roads instead of the highway so they don't get pulled over while on the way back to the rez and do 15 under the speed limit weaving back and forth with both brake lights out.

If you marry an indian get one that's got enough indian blood for your kids to enroll in the tribe too that way your kids get free healthcare and free college and shit. And she will absolutely pop out a babby, they need to have dependents in order to get more benefits from the tribe.

Yeah this is a cool pipe dream but in reality they aren't going to allow some outsider in. You're simply not trust worthy to keep hush about all the disgusting shit that often goes on in those places.

        >they need to have dependents in order to get more benefits from the tribe.
often times the benefits are based on whether you live on the reserve or not, DO NOT HAVE KIDS GROW UP ON A RESERVE
        there's no child welfare agency

        >And she will absolutely pop out a babby, they need to have dependents in order to get more benefits from the tribe.

depends on the tribe, some are incredibly strict about stuff like this, /misc/ level
this guy was a chief who had a 'marry out, move out' where you couldn't live on the reserve if you married a non native
some of the ones do a blood quantum thing so if your wife is consider a 1/2 member of the tribe than her kids are 1/4 member
some tribes don't mind outsiders joining and will give you benefits like cheap car registration just because they see it as taking money away from the government that they hate

The tribe near me ran short of money when covid started. They responded to this by demanding everyone in the tribe prove their ancestry and booting anyone who didn't have paperwork proving they were indian enough (even though almost all of those people grew up on the rez, the usual case was a mom that didn't know who the dad of her children was). They did this so the people who were left would have more benefit money to go around after they got rid of the others. Seriously, frick indians.

          [...]

Honestly yeah. :c The amount of rape, domestic abuse, gun and drug trafficking and violent assaults that happen in a community of only 5000 people would make a south Chicago gangbanger blush.

          Guatemala, Peru, Bolivia
all amerindian cultures and have black population too and latinas love black men I hear

Those places all treat blacks like its rural Georgia and its 1940. Maybe not as cruelly but there are a ton of invisible social lines in those countries. Black men don't date white women. Black people aren't hired for jobs except manual labor. Blacks (and dark skinned latinos) aren't admitted at nightclubs or nicer hotels, restaurants, entertainment venues, etc. You might get treated differently as an afro-american though.

my uncle lives on the other side of a rez with only one road through it
they're pretty much rednecks, just not white
ordinary to have 20+ non running cars on the yard and there's 5 bodies of water and at least 2 will always have people fishing in them
it's one of the better ones though, close to a functioning city and kids go to public school off reserve

the remote ones are much worse, like

but if you grow up surrounded with only people like that would you be different?

one big thing between them and whites is whites consider reciprocity to be more quantitative, like if you buy someone a nice dinner they cant take you to mcdonalds in exchange, they ask for favours quick and if you do a couple for them they can be golden in return

It's like asking "why do NEETs who live completely off NEET bux remain NEETs?", why bother changing anything if you just get it all handed to you. If anything it's simply better to do absolutely nothing as you often come out ahead in finances. Sit on the land till someone wants it and is willing to pay out the ass for it because "it's special" even though the drunks living on it probably don't know shit about what's still there.

That and a lot of times there really is frick all to do. Tribes were given shit land usually where no known mineral or significant water resources existed and where farming was unviable. So that's why you see smoke shops, casinos, gas station and other businesses that don't require resources or knowledge. But if a tribe is far from a major population center or transportation route they don't even have that.

            Anonymous

This. The Indians are living in what amounts to a grassy desert. No mineral value. No easy access water (it's all drilled wells and ponds). Very poor soil that tends to make agriculture a money pit. There's so many fricking tribes in Oklahoma that there's not enough land to actually go around.
It's just dire poverty and generational trauma with no real incoming help. This isn't a trouble money's going to solve. There needs to be a total overhaul of the BIA and tribal system.
There's a reason the tribes are excluded from most federal statistics - because they make Mississippi look like Paris.

Seriously? Not that anon but live next to a large reservation.

The "gibs/handouts' they get from the federal government are pennies. Most BIA money goes to government appointed contractors and subcontractor, with kickbacks to the BIA management. What few benefits go to the tribes go into tribal administration, like public buildings, not to the members.

Sure if you were to compare it to living in a major city, it doesn't look great but most these people are making well off in cash. It's really hard to feel sorry for some of these people when you realize they get a frick ton of kickbacks
