Anon Reports, Vagrant Holiday

An anon in the other thread told me to start a new thread to do updates. I will but my data does not work abroad, I can only post from Internet cafes so don't expect them daily. Currently in Starbucks roastery, I don't like starbucks that much but the roastery is like a tourist attraction where they have the coffee machines on display. It's pretty cool.
>Day 1
Arrived in Milan Bergamo, thought the airport was in Milan because it had Milan I'm the name but it was in Bergamo, took a bus to Milan and walked around for the entire day. Duomo is baffling at how grand it is and Milan is a beautiful city apart from all the homeless. 5 minutes from where the bus dropped me off, I was walking and a black guy was taking a piss, he turns around, dick out
>can I help you?
No thanks. You don't see that back home. After exploring, i set off south, it was about 2 1/2 hour walk, Samsung Health says I did 30km yesterday but walking isn't really exercise, I'm a fat fricker but my legs don't ache. I got to a field that was on Google Maps and it was good with bushes adjacent to walls you could hide in. About 8 or 9, these red wasp bee things started landing on me. I'm not scared of bees or wasps but normal bees are golden yellow and black, not red so I fricked off.
A farmers field seemed good with this big tree that had big branches but ad I was brushing my teeth some guy walked past and saw me so I moved to not risk it. I went past some abandoned house, pic related, and found bushes. This was 30 mins out of town so I just slept in these pretty thin bushes. No one but Mosquitos came. A shitton of Mosquitos, I look like a Malaria victim. I slept 3 til 530.
>Day 2
This abandoned house I slept 50 metres from was a crackden. One with obvious signs of habitation, shaving razors that were sharp, clean clothes, cans of coke that still had droplets of the diabetes juice and weren't covered in insects. I'm glad I didn't go in at night. (1/2)

There was another room from that didn't connect to the main area which smelled of weed, I went in and there were tablets labeled Methmeta. I know 0 Italian but I have a strong inclination that was meth. The whole thing is recorded.
    >food
I ate scrambled egg at home and nothing since them apart from water. Not enough water because my piss is dark brown so I'll up the amount today. Milan has running water fountains you can drink from so I'll buy a big bottle and fill up from there

Pretty much exactly where you stand in that picture one year ago today, I watched some boomer who was rolling his ass off on molly dance as if his life depended on it for 30 minutes because he walked past a street musician and just couldn't help himself. Milan is alright

You went with 0 plans even though several people recommend pretty sensible things to you. You brought it on yourself, moron. At least you're posting OC.

Where you headed off to next?

Parma tomorrow I think, plans can change. One benefit of this is that you can make plans up. Feel free to suggest things, all that has to happen is that I'm in Naples by the 11th. I feel sick when I realise how much there is left.

do you seriously wanted to try le epic traveler lifestyle because of a YT channel? haha you're crazy. What's the point of living like a hobo in a first country? If you want to travel cheap at least go to the mountains or something and camp, no junkies and nogs there. Please be safe out there, I woudn't sleep in shady abandoned houses if I were you.

          >mountains
Way ahead of you. Today I walked around Milan til 4 and then took a train to Ariuno or something like that. From there it was 10km to Consonno but it should be called Conkino. View is absolutely gorgeous up here, it's cool and there doesn't seem to be many Mosquitos, they might come out later. I saw a hornet tho. The first 7 km of the walk were fine but the last 3 were up a super steep hill that killed me. Also I thought shops would be opened but everything is closed so I'm down to my last 500ml of water.

I'm sleeping at Consonno today. So far so good but the walk up here exhausted me.

Bro, just use a bit more common sense. Never sleep in abandoned buildings so close to huge cities, and if you do, be absolutely sure there are 0 signs of recent habitation. Signs such as rubbish, makeshift shelters, traces of fire, signs of forced entry, etc. If you go in somewhere and all the rubbish looks really ancient and dust covered, chances are it is really old. Anything recent, especially needles, cans or bottles (i.e. homeless junkie fricks), GTFO ASAP.

Install offline Openstreetmaps, this shit is invaluable for finding places to sleep and getting around. It has much more context than any Google maps for what you are looking to do. There is frick all WiFi in Italy.

Tinder is not cheating, but like the other guy said, Italian girls are kind of shit for that kind of a thing and in general are hard to frick. I mean, just sleep in a hostel if you feel desperate.

In Italy there are a lot of fountains, sometimes in places without anyone, you could probably wash yourself really early in the morning there. You risk someone seeing you butt naked, but hey, you're LARPing as a bum. Otherwise if you see a clear stream or a lake, wash yourself.

Eat healthier to sweat a lot less, cut down sugars, etc. Also eat fiber so when you got to shit it is all dry and not sticky like a flow of shit volcano.

Do you have a tent or any sort of sleeping system? Trust me, there are ways to do this much more comfortable, but you need to be smarter about this.

I didn't sleep in the crackden, I slept like 50 metres away from it, I wouldn't enter a crackden at night. I mainly drink water and nothing else, today I had a pasta but its was my first meal in Italy. When it's hot, I don't wanna eat.
              >tent
Lol, I only brought a sleeping bag for sleeping. All my possessions are in my bag, I don't leave it lying about. I'm thinking of a two sleep system, today I had a nap in tbe Park and it was good and was considering a 1 til 5 or a 2 til 6 combined with a 12 til 2 or 3 in a public space. Every park I go to, there's some Italians sleeping about.

                Op here once again.
Went for a shower in a Milan gym, the woman must have thought I was already a member since she gave me a towel and opened the door. Gym was good, it gave out soap for free. I showered, walked around Milan a while more and boarded the train to Parma. There were 2, one 40min and one 90min, I chose the longer one because it gave some decent sleep. There was a delay and it took 2 hours, a Pakistani wrangled me and tried to get me to buy him an energy drink on the train.
I got to Parma, its really quite beautiful, this quaint town with really tall buildings that make the roads seem narrow. Its as if I'm a platelet swimming around a human body, it makes me feel small l. I'll explore it more tomorrow and take the train to Modena in the afternoon.
Sleep took me an hour to get into position but I'm in some tall grass 30 metres from the highway, cars are loud but I like it, its calming tbh. I got 2 matches on Tinder. 1 was some American style fat where she was as round as she was tall bitcu from 477 km away. Yeah, well fricking done on reading that I'm in Milan b***h. Then someone I thought looked quite good in the blurred picture until I matched them and it was an mtf. I don't want my neghole pozzed so I didn't even reply.
I also installed couchsurfing. Some Turkish guy from here gave me a quick negative reply but I've asked for Modena and Bologna already, we'll see if I get success. Literally even sleeping on a wooden floor would be better than this. I also think the lack of rest is getting to me. Today I recorded 20 minutes of me walking in Milan talking about the Yogscast, it was surreal when I was looking at it on the train because I swear I did not talk that long.

                >mosquitos eating you alive

              >Trust me, there are ways to do this much more comfortable, but you need to be smarter about this.
True. I consider good sleep to be the key element to unstructured holidays. Nothing is more important!
To get you started in your research, this is what i have in my backpack (Fjällraven Bergen 30):
MSR Hubba NX tent in green (has a freestanding inner mesh tent for insect protection), barely visible in the night in the bushes.
Thermarest Xlite sleeping mat in large (it's comfy to not have your arms roll off at night) and Thermarest sheet (otherwise your skin sticks to the mat)
Miltec Poncho liner (silent, not like a bag of chips) in summer, fleece blanket added in fall and autumn, Vaude down quilt in winter.
The stuff fits easily into a 30l pack. I can sleep practically everywhere in comfort. It is pricey, but grown ups have jobs and thus money. >:^)

              Some more SighSee advice:
Bring a water filter to be able to use streams (Katadyn Befree or Sawyer Squeeze).
Bring isotonic drink powders if you don't eat much.
Use Permethrine to treat all your stuff and clothes against ticks. Socks, trousers, inner tent, shoes, everything.

Laughing my ass off rn as i am doing a similar trip next month and everyone is shitting on OP for being miserable.

Hopefully my sleep will be less shit as i have a light hammock with a mosquito net.

Hey man, at least it'll be a memorable experience. If you have low expectations it can still be fun.

Test it with and without trees. Bring a Poncho that doubles as a tarp if there is a chance for rain.

              Op here once again.

That's what i mean. No shame in getting a hotel every now and then. I use booking.com to find a cheap one where i can pay with CC or paypal. Also a good time to eat, drink and wash the old undies and shirt.

Op here once again. I slept near the motorway in Parma, explored the Citadel Park there and then went off to Modena. Modena was overall disappointing. Its a very pretty old town with huge buildings in that classic overpowering Italian style. Really beautiful. It's just that the rest of the city was just garbage modern residences, I'm in Bologna right now, I have a place to stay via a bus that leads to out of town but I'm not so sure if I'll explore it because I've been feeling sorta unwell lately. Maybe one of the mosquitos gave me ebola lol but this is my fourth nosebleed today, at first it was running blood but now its basically crimson snot lol.
I'm not worried, more I fricking HATE HATE HATE sleeping under bushes. I fricking despise it. Couchsurfuing requests are all either denied or I'm left ghosted and the other girl I finally met on Tinder just ghosted me too. My hands are covered in blood, I mean it's my own blood but a cop car pulled up and is watching me, I think they've realised I'm ill because they're just talking now between themselves in a chill manner as I'm sat in the park. I don't really wanna move because if I walk half a kilometre, it bleeds again.

              >nosebleed
Dry air and crusty buggers tear up your noses inner lining. I hate it.

always have a stash of money on you.

I always do the trick of small notes in my pocket for casual spending during the day. the remainder of money goes somewhere a pickpocket cannot reach i.e. in shoes

              Good advice.

              Great thread.

I'd actually recommend using cheap gear for hobo holiday thing. It's great for outdoors and proper camping, not so great when you are trying to set up a tent in a spot with brambles, etc., because it's the only thing in the vicinity that is covered and you're too tired to give a frick. Also the fact that you're more liable to lose or get your shit stolen. I'd stress more about a fancy €300 tent than enjoying my time if I had to travel like that. When I did it, I used a €10 tent because it was all I could afford and it worked great. The sleeping bag will matter infinitely more as it is what keeps you warm for the most part; when I did this thing before, I had a sleeping bag that was way too light for a very cold April because I miscalculated the temperatures I will be dealing with. I could have had a very good, expensive tent, but I'd still be freezing my balls.

I, in general, recommend using cheap shit, even for SighSee use. I tend to break things easily because I have moron strength that I am only half aware of, so it isn't uncommon for me to pull or break something by accident. Expensive shit makes me anxious.

I get you, if money is a limit, cheap stuff is better than pricey.
I wouldn't even say that this is pricey, but it's worth it with good value.

                >I'd stress more about a fancy €300 tent
However, not anyone is restricted by money. I can buy ten tents and not feel it in a hurtfull way. I don't mean this in a snotty way, it's just that money isn't as important if you have it.

    Op here. Very quick update.
I am NOT sleeping in Consonno, I was stationed in this tower of pic related, but cars kept coming by. Like a lot of cars. Car after would stop at the church very close, you can see it in any maps, men would talk and the car drove off. I stationed myself in a Bush now. Very far away from the road, I had to walk through brambles. I hope the gangsters don't get me.
Also I heard gunfire. I mean, I think it was gunfire. It was 2 quick three round bursts. I was in the army before this and it sounded more or less the same, just kinda muffled.

OP once again. Today's sleep was better than yesterday's, pic related. I know I risked ticking but I guess luck favours the stupid because I didn't catch any. The walk from Consonno to Airunno was brutal, I don't know why since there wasn't much uphill, maybe its because I'm hitting 70km on my 3rd day.
Back in Milan, thinking of changing plans tbh, gonna still do Parma, Modena, Bologna (fairly small cities so each should take a day), then Florence (day or 2) into Rome (3 or 4), then take train to Venice, i don't really wanna explore Venice so only a day, then take bus or train to Vienna, Vienna 2 or so days, it should be better because it shouldn't be so hot due to being north-er and the altitude, from Vienna, I can then decide whether to hit Prague or go straight back to Jelenia Gòra and take a bus or whatever home, I live close to there
Currently gonna go look for a gym or whatever
Consonno was absolutely stellar and I would recommend everyone to visit. The Northern Italian towns are picturesque with all the mountains and everything.

Bro you look very Polish, kurwa japiedorle.. anyways, it's only one bad night, don't let it keep you down too much. Probably just all the heat and air pressure messing with you. If it's municipal police, beware, they tend to be absolute morons. Asked me for a visa even though I have a clearly EU passport kek

I think I feel fine lol. Don't know really but I'm still self aware enough to know I have a temperature and I semi fainted on the street. I've fainted 4 times in my lifd before this do I consider myself an expert on the subject and I caught myself slipping, dropped to my knees, into dog position, lay down on my side, lost consciousness and then woke up a few seconds later. No scrapes or anything so I feel good, especially now because I feel like an absolute God that the fainting did not.kill me. The nosebleeds have stopped for now.

          >even though I'm from another EU country
The roaming related law was passed a few years ago, you should be able to use your phone contract in your home country in another EU country as if you were home

It needed extra effort because it was hidden behind a bug man ui for the application. I know how to torrent off sketchy Russian websites but phones confuse me.

He's probably not eating good and not drinking enough water (mentioned this earlier himself). Sleeping out in the bush is usually pretty comfy, it seems like he isn't ready or is missing some gear. Decathlon gear costs frick all and there's shops all over the place. Just spend €30 on some sensible shit to sleep proper lmao.

Op heren once again. Today I'm staying in Venice and beginning my slow march home. Venice was a good idea because it was a solid 10 degrees cooler up until now basically. I'm just hiding out in some shade and waiting for the sun to pass. I feel fine more or less, I'm just extremely tired, today I didn't sleep til 5 and I managed 2 times 1 hour sleeps on the train. I think that's the part that's worst about it. If it was for being assaulted by bugs every night, I'd be fine.
Yesterday in Bologna, there was a literal kino film.

I've lasted a month in Thailand and Cambodia. I think its the lack of slddp

Like I said, Venice is a tiny city, its huge if you consider the part on the mainland worth visiting but I spent 2 1/2 hours there in the morning and can say its not really worth it, its just residential and commercial blocks with this big industry for a silhouette, its like a working class town basically. That leaves the islands and they're really not that big. The main one I walked in 6 hours and I was taking detours investigating everything and taking breaks. The others are even smaller. It's a surreal city because yeah, it does have a Palace and a few churches, but you don't come to Venice to look at that, you come to look at Venice itself, the tiny streets and the canals. The best comparison would be going to London to see how the terraced houses are built, no one would do that for London, but here they would.
Health wise, I think I'm doing fine. I'm just extremely tired because I slept 2 hours today. Its not a game ender, its just making me groggy. I spit on twitch streamers who pretend that 24 hour streams are some achievement. These past 5 days I've slept maybe 18 hours altogether.
The thing with Venice is that you really have to see it because the tightness of some streets and how the bridges arc isnt conveyed in camera, but don't book a week here, 2 or 3 days at most and don't do it when its so hot. The city is all stone with barely a tree apart fro. 2 parks I think and you feel it. Also it's cleaner here, I wanna attribute it to there being absolutely shittons of Poles and Germans and less of our friends from below the Med. I only saw a few and one guy stopped me.
                >man, where you from?
                >"Poland"
                >I love Poland, my father was Poland, Poland no racist.
I had to stop myself from fricking bursting out in laughter. Then he went on a sob story about how he got a kid born TODAY so instead of being in the hospital with his child, he's out here handing out bracelets he wants an unspecified amount of euros for.

based anon, keep going. Venice is the best city in the world, enjoy.
                t. Italianon
also avoid ooga boogas, the bracelet scam is so common: they tie a bracelet in your arm and then ask for money, if you treat then bad they probably call other people and confront you. You know I don't blame them, they are poor souls and such but I absolutely hate how they always pull the "muh racism" card, like they told you that fricking poles are NOT racists. C'mon bro.
please keep us updated and sleep a bit for frick sake.

Op here, night time update. I don't know why but I wasn't all that tired, I'd prefer to sleep during the day and then have the night to myself because it's cooler. Also I have a brand new idea, just like when I calmly walk into a gym and claim the shower, I will calmly go to sleep here, not gonna unpack or anything, and it's public enough that I don't think anything will happen, I'm a light sleeper when it comes to movement so I don't see how anything would be stolen off me. Today I got 2 tinder matches and I'm getting ghosted, not happynabout it but also I'm kinda relieved because I wonder what a girl would say if I appeared as I an now.

I'd give it an average cleanliness score, Wroclaw is still one of the cleanest cities I've ever been in and I visit it alot so I could be biased, but while we dont have the UK situation of crisp packets and the remains of chav parties, there's a lot of cigarette butts, chewing gum and odd papers like receipts on the ground. Milan was the worst in this, whereas the other towns where largely clean, Venice feels as if its under siege by a trash wave and that the locals are constantly battling it. Like I've walked roads today that were impeccable, then horribly dirty, then I walked the same area at night and it was clean again. I actually feel kinda bad for them because a solid 30% of tourists are subhuman.

                >one day per italian city
                your choice I guess

I understand but doubling the length I'm to be here would drive me insane. I can always return later, the city isn't going anywhere and this allows to find the mistakes I'm making for next time. Bologna I will definitely travel to again, same with Milan, Parma and Modena probs not. Venice 50/50, its a very static town.

also couchsurfing sucks dick, it was semi usable the last time I was on it, in 2018, but even then you are not getting very far unless you're a chick. Used it with my ex and would get lots of responses (even though pics clearly show a couple), but everyone would ghost or cancel (hur dur my dog died, sorry can't host tonight :'[ ) once they realized I'm coming too kek

book a hostel or a cheap room somewhere for one night if you're nose is fricking with you, you seem seriously underprepeared so i'm not surprised you're not doing so well

    Op here, another report.
Frankly, I'm pretty impressed. I slept in the train station and everything was fine and dandy, the guy who marched around here kicked us out around 1 am but everyone came back around 3 am because the doors were open and I got a good 2 hours of sleep.
O bought a drink and then was walking to buy a train ticket. In that 5 minute walk, a level 100 Khajit in thievesguild armour and with 100 sneak and 100 pickpocket, he came up to me and plundered my wallet lmao.
I can use BLIK on my phone to pay, but I'm taking this as a sign to end the trip (also BLIK is shit to use and you have to type in your bank password everytime you want to use it). I didn't have anything in the wallet, I didn't buy euros nor did I bring money with me, it was literally just a container for my bank cards (kinda miffed because I kept my old ones and I even had one with thr London Olympics logo on it), my drivers license, my EU national ID card and a photo. I disabled the cards immediately when I realised it missing and before the guy could do anything. Also I went to the Police, they were pretty chill about the whole thing. One thing I like in Italy is that all the police look like Chads rather than in the UK where you have fattoids, twinks and women. They said they probably won't find anything but it they do, then they either call, email or just post it over.
Honestly, this trip wasn't long but it was extremely fun. It was one of the most miserable experiences in moments, especially sleeping, but I really enjoyed it. That's one good thing about Europe because trains and planes here are extremely cheap so I actually think this sort of adventure is viable to do on a week off. I'll probably go again but during a cool season.
That's the worst part about it actually, the fact I went during summer and that it's hot as balls, a deodorant can only help so much and showering now doesn't do an effect because my clothes are dirty in themselves.

Hit clubs or chat up strangers. If you're socially anxious, buy a vodka and down ut, leave your passport and wallet in your room so you don't lose them if you do this.
There's plenty of shit to do, even if you're a basic b***h, just get a tour for something out of the city, its incredibly to start convo because you just talk about the thing you are currently doing. Search online, every city has some hidden niche club for doing whatever it is you enjoy.
      Also,
Op here quick update. BLIK doesn't work on my phone, I've filled up my water bottle with tap water from a Macca's at the station but I cannot purchase anything from now on.
