Never been there. But been researching a lot. Afaik it's up to where you're staying. Expect to pay a lot for everything (unless you're staying at an all inclusive hotel). Some places are good for diving, others not much. Some resorts offer lots of nautic sports, other just some SUP boards... It's a place to chill not much to see/do.
My wife's been there twice. She loves it she says. Imagine marrying a woman who's been married before and be able to say shit like this, so fucking crazy how people say body count and shit isn't important
If you’re coming from the US the travel to get there is exhausting. I haven’t stayed at an all inclusive but that might be the move given how fucking expensive food is.
This shtick might work on these SighSee basedboys and computer nerds but trying it out on a guy who made it through both battles of Fallujah is just asking for trouble you don't need
I've been to the Maldives, but I've only been in Malé very briefly (to arrive & to fly out). Where I actually stayed was Guraidhoo. More importantly, I chose not to take the typical resort route. I decided to try the poorfag simulation, to try and give myself a more "authentic" experience.
>public transport
Just taxis, ferries, and speedboats. The ferry from the airport to Malé is $2. The taxi from the ferry to the seaport is $2. The inter-island speedboats obviously cover longer distances so it should cost more, but I don't remember them being particularly expensive.
>environment
The clearest seas & skies I've ever seen. Nice & sunny outside.
>ecology
The ants are huge, the lizards are tiny, and they both can crawl into your room through the gaps.
They also have really big bees.
>food
Surprisingly boring if you're trying to eat like a local. I tried it out, and it was basically just grilled fish or chicken, served with rice or pasta. Salad was just a plate of grated carrots soaked in lime juice. It kind of makes sense since the country is a small cluster of islands; I'm pretty sure the only foods that are local are the seafood and coconuts. They use little to no Hispanices, although the guesthouse I stayed in grew their own chilies.
If you want to eat something less boring, you should be eating foreign/non-native food, ideally at a resort or resort-adjacent restaurants. I vaguely remember an anon telling me about this amazing octopus curry he had at a resort; sounds nice.
>activities
Most if not all of it will depend on the sea. Hope you like diving, fishing, or just lounging at the beach. At least you can make the local food slightly more interesting if you go fishing; there is something satisfying about eating your own catch.
>what I would do differently
Maybe stay at Malé for at least a day or two
Stay at a resort or at least a proper hotel
Visit Gan Island
Visit other islands
Ive been there twice, both on 3-4star resort islands. Resorts are way pricier than local island (which is a bang for a buck) but offers more secluded expirience. Anyway i consider maledives a mostly swimming paradise expirience, swmming as diving/snorelking/ect. Dunno what to do beside it if ita not your thing. If it is than just book a resort that have their local coral reef and youre golden, I snorkled/dive around 8h per day, it was totaly worth it. Buget option are local islands on which you can rent a boat (togheter with some ppl for a normal price) thqt will take you out to the nearest coral reefs. Its much worse becayse you have timeframe and cant just return to your bungalow if you desire, but its still good. Beside it you eat, drink, sleep, maybe fuck your bitch and lay on the hammock, so go there only if you want reef expirience.
Male give cool 1st impression, but after a day it becomes just a concrete rock. All richest locals have premium cars/motocycles with neons and shit stored down there, mostly for egoboost because male can be toured via bicycle in a span of 1-2h. It was dirt and glitter when i last visited it >10y ago, dunno if anything changed.
I spent 2 weeks at Reethi Beach. Are you going to where the picture is? There are many different styles of resorts and then there's the city. But certainly you'll be spending some hours at the airport. If you walk away from the airport expect people to stare at you like you just came from the Moon. It's a really creepy feeling. Just stick to the Airport grounds.
im actually going to stay in reethi beach for 2 days then going to another resort
how did u like it ???
im mostly hoping to see the bioluminescent beach and doing to dolphin safari tour on a jet ski... both of these are dependent on luck since u cant predict nature but from what i researched the odds are pretty good at that resort.. dolphin safari is offerered anywhwre in the maldives via a boat really but some places lets u see them on a jet ski which is cool af cuz u get right up close to them
honestly the resorts seem pretty fucking boring. you should try and explore Male if you can, that place seems kinda cool.
>you should try and explore Male if you can
sounds pretty gay
this kind of retarded comment is why u should never take advice from trv or reddit
do you work at a resort on the maldives?

We are staying at an all inclusive resort, I think buying all inclusive is worth it much more than paying for food

I don’t get what you mean. Why are you so mad
Your spine to get snapped by the locals once they see how much of a loser you are
that's a serious ass accusation, care to back it up?
I’ve heard locals are pretty nice and chill people
Another anon said he would snap someone’s spine in another thread. Was that you? Why are you obsessed with spines being snapped?
I think its a stupid SighSee meme, along with drug smuggling at the airports

Russian Oligarchs, brutal sun, stunningly pretty water.

pay attention that nobody smuggles drug into your packages.
you will get death penalty there
Enjoy it while you can. Rising sea levels caused by global warming will swamp the place in a few years.
Enjoy it while you can. Shrinking sea levels caused by global cooling will destroy the ecology of the coastlines as we know them in a few years.
