I really want to go but then I would lpse ESTA. Unfair.

If you're from a first world country and visiting Iran is the only reason why you lost your ESTA privileges then you should easily get a 10 year B-1/B-2 visa.
Yes, you'll have to go to the embassy and pay more but you'll also get to use one of the faster lines at immigration.

I have dual citizenship so will the other passport be “safe”?

          Anonymous

No, as they ask if you've been to places like Iran not if your passport has entry stamps from there.
You can of course try, but if they find out somehow (flight records, social media) you're fricked.

Quick breakdown on this? Is this some kind of protracted multi-entry tourist visa?

I'm not super keen on visiting the US, but I wouldn't want to rule it out entirely just because I sympathise with Iran and may also want to buy some wool rugs on the cheap.

Yeah, it's usually 10 years multi-entry, details depend on your citizenship.

how well do they check it, can I just write down no and be over with it?

Do you want to risk lying to the border police of a country with one of the most prevalent spying networks?
They might not get anything from the Iranians but they surely have access to international flight records.
Unless you went to Iran overland I wouldn't risk it and just apply for a visitor visa which you should easily get if you qualify for an ESTA otherwise.

uhm you really think the Irani government and the US gov exchange information? lol if you have a second passport without a stamp theres no way the the border police will know you where in Iran lol. I have been to Syria and the US no problem. Dont make it your profile pic or something though

            yes.

I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that the feds have access to passenger records of international flights, especially from airlines serving the US as well.

not OP, but I'd love to visit Iran just to hear the language and see the shores of the Caspian sea. Sadly, nonvaxxed are not allowed to enter Iran. https://caa.gov.ir/Portals/0/downloads/covid/Coloured%20LISTs%20of%20Countries%20-%20V16.pdf

As a Canadian, is it true that independent travel is impossible? That I would need a guide?

      Anonymous

Yes, you'll need a guide but Iran is not like North Korea, you can do some things alone if you discuss it with your guide beforehand.
Besides the guide will also be useful to cross the language barrier and explain stuff to you.
The biggest drawback is that your itinerary is fixed in advance and you can only stay in the more expensive hotels.

I think you will experience the opposite if you look western. People will want to give you stuff rather than beg you for stuff.

even Chinese are banging them. If you have money and are decent looking of any race I feel you'll do fine. Non-whites (pajeet excluded) prob have a bit more luck due to the exotic factor.
Pic related got lashed for being a PUA in Iran and being moronic enough to brag about it on YouTube.

So a woman can be seen sitting with, touching, kissing, or be alone in a room/elevator with a man she isn't married to?

              Anonymous

              No.
But it should be possible to do the dating part minus the intimacy.
In case you both want to get busy there are a couple options:
              1. sneak into your/her accommodation and hope you don't get caught
+ can be done quickly, no formalities
              - if you get caught you'll be in trouble
              2. pretend you're married couple who got married abroad
+ less likely to get in trouble
              - need to be convincing or have some kind of fake marriage papers to show; risky if caught
              3. get a temporary marriage (sigeh)
+ you have the license to frick
              - formalities, need to find a cleric (some can do it in English or other languages); not very spontaneous

The temporary marriage is by the way your best bet if you're travelling with an Iranian of the opposite sex, no matter if romantic or strictly platonic, it saves a lot of trouble, plus you can tell people about your Iranian wife.

problem with Iran is logistics: everyone in Iran has overprotective parents (somehow the non-religious liberal families even more so) and lives with mom and dad until they're 40

American here. Iran is the safest, friendliest country I've ever been in. Esfahan, Shiraz, Yazd for the classic trip. Americans have to have a guide or go on a group tour, so its more expensive than for others and takes perseverance to get in, but once you're there, it opens up. Worth it for a once in a lifetime adventure.

double post - I hated the idea of having a guide before I went, but we became friends immediately and everyday got to experience stuff I wouldn't have otherwise. Met beautiful women, had a blast, crashed at his place toward the end.
