Anyone got tips for Mexico City? I've never been and I'll be there for a week in February.
Anything I absolutely shouldn't miss while I'm there? Anything I should avoid? Is the elevation an issue for someone coming from sea level? Any scams I should know about?
stay in colima near the two parks and stay in that area and you'll be fine
i had problems sleeping the first few days but im a sperg
other than that its quite nice
Traffic is fucking crazy. Look up the nice neighborhoods and stay in one, there's a few choose from. The metro is cheap as fuck and will take you just about anywhere. Not sketchy at all, always plenty of cops around.
The airport blows, it's two terminals that arent connected. You have to take a fucking bus through traffic to get between them. When you leave make sure you're going to the correct terminal
A previous anon made this google maps overlay that details the danger level of each zone of mexico city, hope this helps

I recently added the different transportation lines that make up the city, however, I would recommend not using the subway, instead I recommend getting around by bicycle if the area has bike paths.
The bicycle lanes do not appear on my map, but here is another map with greater detail of the transport system:
https://app.semovi.cdmx.gob.mx/visor_sitp/
In addition, in terms of danger, tourist sites such as the Zona Rosa and the Historic Center, although they appear in yellow and orange, are sites that are visited by a large number of people, so they are not really that dangerous.
Why no subway? I've read dozens of things online that claim its totally safe and very clean. In my city the subway is littered with junkies and violent mentally ill people so I'm not like new to the dregs of public transit
I spent a week back in September at the JW Marriott in Polanco. Fucking loved it dude. Polanco in general felt pretty safe to me, it's a pretty affluent area from what I gathered.
Xochimilco was nice, a little too touristy for my tastes but it was cool learning about the history behind it. Oh, I speak Spanish fluently so that would help you a ton.
Also did a day trip to Teotihuacán with a local tour guide. Impressive city, be ready for walking because it's fucking huge. If you can't make it, I would skip it tbqh. If you've already seen something on the level of Machu Picchu, you won't really be impressed. Go if you're a history buff.
For things inside the city, I recommend catching a show at the Palacio de Bellas Artes. I forgot the show I watched. It was about Mexican music or culture throughout the ages. The theater itself gets hot as fuck though, I don't think it has AC.
The national museum of anthropology was interesting, felt like a waste of time in general. Again, only go if you're a super history buff. I enjoyed talking to people instead to get their POV on CDMX.
As far as food goes, you really can't go wrong here. Any vlog you see on Youtube will steer you right, I promise you. Casa de los Azulejos was a little "meh" but cool architecture.
Can't answer any monger questions because that's not why I went.
Shit, I forgot about my least favorite part. I also went to Plaza Garibaldi which is where all the mariachis gather. It's cool for five minutes, but also felt like a massive waste of time. There was a neat little restaurant with live music there though, Guadalajara De La Noche. They mostly serve like bar food though. I would skip this area entirely, or just make it a very short trip for a pic or two.
Did you only visit the anthropology museum?
No, I didn't go to your pic, but went to the castle in Bosque De Chapultepec, and the Palacio De Bella Artes also had a museum inside.
Do you like the castle of Chapultepec?
Go to the art museum
Is it true you can buy as much Vicodin as you want at the pharmacies?
The beaches there are really nice
Mexico City is in the middle of the country though...
Yeah but the beaches in Mexico City are really nice
How can Mexico City have beaches?
Mexico City doesn't have beaches.
I have heard that seeking arrangements is a gold mine in CDMX any anons wanna divulge?
Turn back while you can
