Is Athens dogshit? I've been looking up a lot of the attractions and they are all ruins. Like don't get me wrong, I can appreciate the historical significance of these areas. But when you compare it to Rome, it kinda looks like shit. Everything is just ruins and they want to charge €20 a head just to see it.
Are you retarded? Most of the large Greek buildings that are still left are over 500 years older than the Colosseum.
If you only want to see new things go to Dubai, idiot
So? Doesn't change the point. It's just a bunch of pillars and dilapted shit you can't even walk through.
Great food
In terms of preserving history and immersing yourself in it in everyday life, Rome is way better than Athens. Istanbul is way better too, if you want to stick the Balkans region. Athens is mostly a bunch of dilapidated Commie blocks with old ruins sprinkled around here and there, though it has great nightlife and food and things of that nature to make up for it, if that's your sort of thing.
>Is Athens dogshit?
yes.
if you really feel the need to walk on the acropolis, you obv need to go there
there's also nice museums and whatnot
the nightlife is somewhat decent, if you know where to go
but otherwise, yea, its shit
imo going to a greek island is a way better way to spend your money
>t. Greek
Which Islands are worth seeing?
all of them, really
what you need to decide is whether you want high budget luxury style vacations(paros, mykonos) or low budget camping style (eg elafonisos)
ofc you can do both kinds in most islands, but there is definitely a mainstream trend for each
I eventually want to visit Greece. I don't need to see the acropolis but I do want to look at ruins, museums, and other cool historical shit. Also food. Night time is for a good sleep to get up and go hiking the next day.
What's the recommendation?
athens would work
finding good food, by greek standards, will be tough, you really need locals to take you places
finding good food by international standards will be exceedingly easy. like really, walk into any restaurant outside of touristy areas that seems somewhat populated and you're golden
as for ruins, museums etc, there's lots everywhere. athens has a pretty high concentration, ofc, but there's lots outside of athens
i'd like to suggest nafplio, its a c-tier city that has some cool stuff
sparta too
the oracle at delfi
vergina (old capital of the macedonian empire)
uhm
there's more, but im not very keen at looking at ruins myself, so maybe wait for some1 else to suggest more
Very cool greekbro, thanks
τίποτα, φίλε
Yeah it sucks. I didn't even see the ruins, just went to big hill parks nearby and got views of Athens + Acropolis without having to pay. Rest of it is a shithole
