Barcelona and/or its surrounds

Hey champs, I'm thinking of doing Barcelona for a week-ish in July. I've done most of Europe already but haven't been to Spain (and Portugal) yet. Should I do Barcelona or are there some nearby gems that I should stay at instead?

I suppose I'd like to see Barcelona for a day or two, but ideally I'd want to check out smaller, underrated cities instead of the big ones (e.g., Cluj instead of Bucharest, Brno instead of Prague). I'm also keen on these things:
>urbex (pic related - Charleroi)
>hikes (preferably coastal)
>some nice beaches
>oddities/things that are unique to the place (e.g., Ishi-no-Hōden, Sedlec Ossuary, Hoia Baciu forest)

Or should I do some other city in Spain/Portugal instead?

Spain has many many beautiful cities. How long are you gonna stay?

Probably in between July 3rd/4th until 9/10/11th. I haven't booked anything yet.

Sorry, I didn't really answer the question directly. Say around 7 nights.
Ideally I'd like to do just one city (two max) and just do day trips in between.

If you are under 30 and want to party, beach, frick hookers and bawds, smoke weed, cosmopilitan vibes then BCN is for you. the city is very overrated for sites and actual things to see that aren't related to the above.
If you want actual castles, churches, shit to see, historical walkways, etc. then literally any other major city in Spain

Could I see the highlights in a day, then? Not all that interested in parties, would rather stay in Bilbao a few extra days if that's the case.
      Not OP btw

Theres literally nothing in barcelona that is not a complete overrated tourist trap that is overcrowded. Sagrada Familia is completely mogged by any other cathedral in Spain, all of the "Gaudi" archtecture is not appealing and places like park guell are not really that interesting, and those are the only 2 noteworthy places I can think of. The other shilled place is Las ramblas which is just a San Francisco compacted into one street and Barcelona stadium. Skip Barcelona if you have no interest in drugs, partying, hookers, cosmpolitism, beaches, etc

What if I’m 33? I feel like I can no longer partake of these activities as being over 30 makes me look like this creepy dude

i mean, you still have to be attractive. if you are baldfatshort then your age doesn't have any bearing.

The average male height is like 5'7 in Spain. He'll be fine. You see pretty girls walking around all the time with guys who are their height.

Alot of 30+ people partake i all of these activities in barcelona. Spain isnt like anglo culture where there are cucked social stigmas against different age groups mixing. Just groom, take care of your face and hair, and you should be fine. that is if you want to in the first place

    Do an Andalucian adventure instead
    >Sevilla for big city
    >Frontier towns
    >Cadiz
    >Cordoba
    >Marbella for richgay beach town
    >Continue coasting until you need to circle back to sevilla for airport access
all doable by bus or rental car, hikes and beaches available and you can go watch bull fights in sevilla as your local tradition but universal oddity.

Where the frick did you hear that from? madrid is probably one of the safest major western european capitals. The only visible minorities are sudacas and gypoids. Such a large contrast compared to berlin, london, or paris

Might be going to Spain too but didn't want to go to a well known city.

Almeria is supposed to be a hidden gem, but looking it's far from it. Do you have to go to the main cities to get a decent experience?
