What would you reccomend to eat?
Where would you reccomend to meet female companions?

    Barcelona anon here.

It is infested with tourist, it's part of the reason why I have a love-hate relationship with the city.

Anyway, apart from the usual touristic attractions, you can just walk around Gràcia or El Born.

To eat... A basic advice would be avoid La Rambla, you will have the worst paella in town and it will be overpriced as frick. Maybe walk around Poblenou area, I live not too far from there and there are many good restaurants.

I couldn't care less about Spanish food, but these are two of my favourite restaurants: Robata for sushi, Ya Hiro for ramen, Buena Morena for Mexican food, Melo-Jia for Chinese... They're not in the area I mentioned, but whatever.

For girls, unless you're a 9/10 or above, don't even bother. Spanish girls are usually arrogant as frick (which is actually not their fault, it's a consequence of the fricking guys who are constantly hitting on them, but that's another topic). Just stick to Tinder or Bumble and try to meet any other tourists/expats there.

And be careful with pickpockets, please don't be an butthole. Some times I see tourists who are almost begging to be robbed. If you see a group of Moroccan teens be careful or turn around. If you want more info google "menas España".

I don't know what else to tell you, enjoy the city man. Where are you from btw? Just pure curiosity.

What would be your advice if I'm nevertheless hellbent on getting with a Spanish chick?

Watch the film Sideways (2004) and pay close attention to the character called Jack.

Having a good time with (classy, self-respecting) girls comes down to being charming, smooth, and interesting. You don't need to look like Brad Pitt and Ryan Gosling's love child, you just need to be confident, which you can teach yourself by learning to be sociable and interesting and socially smooth.

        Good luck baby

Second Barcelona anon here- I want to second everything this man has said.

In El Born, try Mimos for a good steak/paella. Slightly overpriced but fantastic quality. Just around the corner from El Born is Parc de Ciutadella, it’s an absolutely magnificent park and a great place to lounge around with a few beers and some music.

I’ll also go further on the “pickpocket” point. Pickpockets are easy to avoid. It’s the straight up robbers (All Moroccans/Algerians btw) who will steal your shit mercilessly and possibly hurt you. Just avoid being around nightclubs/El Raval/Gotico/Born at night alone and it’s an issue you won’t run into.

      I hope this helps OP

        Listen to the Barcelona anons.
Be careful with the Moroccan gangs. If you hear Arab and see a bunch of Moroccan """teens""" (they always operate in packs) with zoomer haircuts do not fricking relax. Again, be careful especially at night, if you are alone we are not talking about pickpocketing, they will phisically assault you, usually from behind. These guys have dozens of arrests and they know that Spanish leftist/woke laws protect them. Some Spaniards fight back so tourists are their easiest prey.

        Good advices here.

So, what exactly do you do if you find yourself walking down a street alone and you spot a group of dodgy Moroccan guys?

Immediately run? Find the nearest group of on scummy people? Run inside somewhere?

No internet-hero "fight them" replies, please.

Barcelona is crowded so, unless you are fricking around by yourself really late at night in the Gothic quarter, it's unlikely that you will find yourself completely alone.

If you see a group of those scummy "moros", just turn around. I mean don't get too paranoid about that, the city is not Caracas or Mogadishu, just use your common sense. The thing is, as I mentioned, some tourist make it so easy for them to rob/assault them. Just don't make it so obvious that you are a tourist.

I've walked by these group of subhumans many times and they didn't do or say anything to me, but then again I'm not a Korean guy carrying a reflex camera and wearing an expensive watch.

Oh and speaking about scummy people, DON'T go clubbing in the Port Olímpic area (Shoko, Opium, Pacha...). I used to go there when I was on my early 20s (now I'm in my mid 30s, yes I'm an oldgay) and it was a nice mix of locals and tourists. Now it's only tourists and, in the surrounding areas, our beloved fricking Moroccans waiting for them. If you want to go clubbing, I'd suggest Apolo.

Spain is one of the only countries in Western Europe where I found women to be relatively friendly and easy going. Curious what your experiences are, want to elaborate?

Best thing you can do in Barcelona is leave Barcelona and never come back.

I moved heaven and earth, left everything behind, took a major pay cut to move from one of the wealthiest cities in the world to Barcelona.

I don’t regret my decision even slightly, best thing I ever did.

I moved heaven and earth to get away from Barcelona. One of the few good decisions I ever took. You will come to regret yours.
