am Canadian, engineering degree. about $20k USD in loan debt. currently working full-time $45k USD (which is $60k CAD, median salary in this country) plus investments and side hustles which push right above to $80k.
ideally want to make 6 figs net with 1 job and not relying on secondary/passive income as much, how long until my career should realistically progress to that point in the US as I'd like to leave this shithole.

    >travel to another country because I can work remotely or because I am just taking time off
    >get asked about holiday
    >every European can't grasp the fact I get just as much if not more time off then them of 4 weeks + 12 company holidays and sick time
    >WOT'S DIS WE DIDN'T HEAR ABOUT THAT ON THE TELE!!!!
    >explain pretty much everyone I know who's worked at a full time job for more than 1 year generally has more than 2 weeks off mostly 2 weeks is starting and you build up more time off as you stay at the company
    >always get told about how some random person they ran into once said something different and so that = fact or when they visited america for a week or two and spoke with a waiter they told him different
    >explain lots of lower end jobs and low skill jobs time off generally isn't that big a push at the negotiation table as people will tend to take a long holiday weekend rather than want to take 3 weeks off to fly over the ocean
    >insert some weird power level tripping that euros, specifically bongs, do about how many countries they've been to ALL Euro nations with maybe a trip to Japan or Thailand

I don't get it, be it on discord, facebook, or in person the amount of Europeans that assume everyone here gets no vacation, healthcare, or remote ability for work is mind boggling. The last 3 job offers I had all gave at least 3 weeks off starting, 2 gave me the ability to refill paid time off if I was willing to work OT some weeks.

Because inbred Europoors get all their opinions on America off of Leddit and Twitter which are fully controlled by hyper-progressive antiwork morons

      Eurogay here.

The reason why people don't know this shit is because euros are just as ignorant about North America as burgers are about Europe. A lot of expats carefully gatekeep the US too, usually by spouting the biggest lies about how they can barely make it with a six figure income. Not only that, but they make healthcare crap sound like it's costing half your net worth per year. And let us not mention the literal net improvement of being an engineer/programmer in the US v. being one in europe.

Were european engineers truly aware of all of this and rigorously went through monthly finances in the US vs whatever country they're in, they would shit themselves.

i worked for a US based subsidiary of a euro company and i was explicitly told not to mention our salaries to our euro counterparts. before i left i hooked up one of the electrical engineers i knew with a reference that got him a work visa, he tripled his salary. laughed like a mad man when he told me about it.

"Free" healthcare is shit everywhere and is for the poor, for everyone else it's taken out of your taxes and pensions or whatever the frick and costs hundreds per month no matter what.

        Europeans are moronic

I hate these Black folk so much, they are always from the most expensive cities staying in a condo owning a car or two that's brand new and refuse to believe in a commute even at the cost of paying 3000/mo for a place down town and 600/mo to lease a car.

Europoors like to brag that they take a lot of vacations, but they're shitty vacations. They stay in cheap ass hostels on shitty cheap hotels or airbnb. The concept of taking only 1 or 2 really nice trips a year is so foreign to most of them.

It’s true that salaries in nearly all of Europe are surprisingly low; the UK is inexplicably low-paid given how expensive it is (at least the COL in Germany is usually lower than the States for the most part).

To get a more accurate comparison, of course, you have to add whatever you pay out of pocket for health insurance to your tax burden, and subtract your employer’s contribution to your health plan from your compensation. But US salaries are still far higher across most categories.

I can’t fricking stand that there’s dork homosexuals who sit at a homosexual computer and pull in six figures and are allowed to work remotely.

I literally feel like a prisoner in America, and having met these fricking dorks in Thailand, there’s no way I can pretend that it’s an exaggeration or an urban myth. There are pencil necked swaggerless dork homosexuals with unlimited access to attractive Thai hookers while I sit in America as an atomized, angry single man who has no hope of getting any pussy at all for years at a time (until I go back to Thailand). I cannot fricking stand this shit

You should have gone into nursing. I just got a 6 percent pay increase this year, and I'll get 6 percent next year. Starting in 2024, I'll be making 190K as a nurse here in California. I get 3 weeks paid vacation, with paid holidays. I work four ten hours shifts a week. And we get a pension after 5 years. I'm 3 years in this year. My monthly health insurance premiums are like $220/month, which is less than 2 percent of my yearly salary.
