Best country to live in without a car

I can't drive anymore, m8s. Fortunately, I have a remote job, but I live in the American Midwest and it's awful living here without a car. What first-world location with good public transit would make a nice home?

Any major city in Europe, however public transport is hell on peak hour, it's so bad I'd rather be stuck in traffic.
Maybe a major city in Europe with not too many non-whites.

Any specific non-cucked cities to recommend? I've only been to Germany. Peak hour was annoying, but nothing compared to traffic in the USA, when everyone is commuting from the hellhole city back to the soulless suburbs.

        >Australia

Entirely depends where you are and what you plan to do. Plenty of people get by without cars in Sydney and Melbourne and I'd assume it's the same in the big cities of Canada too, but it is typically only practical if you don't have a family and don't plan on travelling outside of the city. I own a car in Sydney but barely use it because I don't need to. Still, it is good to have when you do need it, but that would be true of almost every single city on the planet outside of *maybe* somewhere like Hong Kong.

canada is a joke, they're largest city has like 4 lines in their subway, and their commuter trains to the suburbs operated morning rush hour and late afternoon rush hour for the work week.

Barcelona is excellent for that, plenty of transportation options, metro/train are affordable and reliable.

I've moved there from France a few years ago, it's the best decision I've ever made in my life so far.
It's a big city that's still enjoyable to live in, you meet tons of people from diverse backgrounds, it's a great place to explore and experiment, the city is hectic but also chill and relaxed at the same time, you get access to all of Europe for very cheap, I think it's also great to have a family.
Minuses are the air pollution, rent prices lately are crazy, and criminality is rampant in the center town.

Argentina, I dare to say their public transport is better than Europe (Spain at least).

Chicago's pretty good if you can tolerate Black folk and tourists. Also lived in Ann Arbor for a while without a car and it was fine; probably any college vicinity is going to be a walkable city.

just move to Chicago, you can manage without a car just fine. A car makes things more convenient but it's not necessary.

Singapore. You are usually within walking distance of everything you need and if you need to go further the public transport is safe, clean and efficient and covers pretty much the whole island. Then there are taxis and Grab for times when you need them. I could easily and happily live there without a car.

Even in the midwest a car isn't enough. You need at minimum an AWD vehicle, preferably a truck with the snowiest tires you can find.
