it's got the oldest university in Italy and the West, and a younger population than most of Italy.

You're probably supposed to know how to speak Italian before you register there

Dont know about schools but ive been in italy like 10 times by now and Bologna got best restaurants by far.i dont talk about, 1-2 best establishments but overall food expirience, so its safe to bet that its good place for something like you have in mind.
Courses in eng will be more pricy and filled with turists probably so learning italian and doing cooking courses after like the other anon mentioned is probably a better idea then doing them at the same time.

Just watch italian cooking videos on YouTube and use duolingo/google translate. Bologna is a dump and all those courses in any country are just tourist scams.

It's a great city, one of the last major cities in the country not yet ruined by mass tourism. Major train hub, almost every single train running between Milan and Rome stops there, with Tuscany, Marche and Veneto regions nearby.

If you don't get laid in Bologna you won't do it anywhere else. Picrel and add about 25k university arthoes.

I thought it was mid-tier for Italy but nonetheless better than any American city. Plus it's amazing for students, so go for it

Most beautiful city in Italy imo. Not glamorous in the sense Venice is (which is beautiful, regardless of what contrarians want to say), but it feels like an old, medieval town that's still thriving and well maintained. Every street and every little alleyway has an odd sort of comfiness to it that I haven't found in any other city. Everything just feels right.

It has more of a college vibe than a lot of the larger cities in Italy. It's not as pretty as Florence, but definitely has less tourists and it's a lot cheaper. There seemed to be a good live music scene. You can jump on the high speed train and go anywhere in Italy in a couple hours. It's probably not a bad city to live in. If I had to say something bad about it, it's a little too landlocked for my taste. It would take 2 hours by bus to get to the beach if you don't have a car. They make the worst bread I've ever eaten in any city on earth. And the girls have terrible fricking haircuts. I couldn't get over the b***hes walking around with hair like this.
