Budapest

Anything to recommend for 2 guys going to Budapest for few nights?
Plenty of things listed in google on tripadvisor etc. so our plan is quite comprehansive already, however I'm looking for something more extranordinary, something that google search will not list on top of results. Places to see, bars to hit, anything that comes to your mind.

There's a huge Chinese market at an old train factory in the 8th district. It's like a self-contained world to itself. I think it's kind of interesting, and I doubt you'll find it in any guide book or google search.

thank you mate. Indeed there is no mention of that anywhere and I went through several sites with 10-15 items on the list of things to see, each.

        >Indeed there is no mention of that anywhere
Because that's alomst a no-go zone, even for locals. The China Market is a grey zone for the law, but rather dark grey. If you don't know exactly what are you doing there, don't go there.

          can you elaborate on that?
Shady, criminals, easy to get robbed?
          No tourists ever go there?

            >Shady, criminals, easy to get robbed?
not in that particular order but mostly. Chinese people have different definition about "worthy" "cheap" "quality" or "lie". We use to say: don't even believe what they ask.
            >No tourists ever go there?
Hardly seen anybody there except Chinese. The rest looked like straigh up criminal and/or agressive alcoholist

Imagine Chinese immigrants in Eastern Europe / Northern Balkan. They are mostly not just immigrants but mafia, spies, and criminals. We got the slum of Asia.

Budapest is dirty and grimy. If you want the big city experience, check out London or Brussels. If you're headed to London, you can have a look at Big Ben and the double decker buses.

I've been to London several times and my colleagues is actually living there so no point. Brussels I would not recommend to my worst enemy. Disgusting city to visit, not to mention live in. Not to mention your sacrasm (I guess) otherwise you must be moronic.

You really are an unremarkable todger. It's not my fault that all you can afford is third world piles of shite like Budapest. Call it whatever you will, but Budapest sucks. If you can't afford London or Brussels, you can't afford vacationing. Get back to work. You just want to be a contrarian nob to look interesting on SighSee.com but the reality is that you probably haven't left your hovel in 3 years.

hospital in the rock is dope. i did the tour drunk. she didn’t like me lol

there’s a few good bar/club places. i really liked splinza. i can’t remember the names of the others but ask for places like splinza and a local should be able to give you 4 or more

i rented a motorcycle and went where the guy told me. this was before your phone worked in foreign countries no google maps and shit. i had to memorize the directions in my head. i had never driven one before i just lied to the guy. it was fun driving it in budapest because you can pass all the traffic

i went to some big market in the south and it was pretty mid

the fascism museum was worth it. a little dry

i got some good pics going across the green bridge and climbing it and climbing the little mountain it leads to

it’s been over 10 years can’t really remember. budapest is one of my favorite places in europe. get loaded on palinka. eat langosh (poor man’s pizza) and goulash (soup). drink their beer. they made great beer

it’s a beautiful place and not as touristy as other places in europe. very unpretentious. i want to go back

Club instant is the main tourist club, plenty of opportunities to shag other tourists if you have some game. Momento park is definitely worth going too if you like that kind of thing, about 20-30 mins from city centre. Also I can recommend Vicky Barcelona, it's a Spanish bar in the centre down one of the main streets, good food, service and beer. Also if a rub and tug is you're thing massage house is good but a bit pricey, worth it for it being a legit establishment.

🙁 I had fun listening to all the different music but I didn't even talk to any girls. Is it because I don't dance or because I was alone since my whole hostel group was dancing?

I wanna go back regardless, Budapest was fricking amazing. Some japanese girl at szchenyi let her titty fall out and didn't notice for like ten minutes. Or maybe it was intentional, her friend was taking pics of her

Partially what I've managed to find on google, but specific places where goulash should be tried are great.
Castle district sounds great and I've added it to our list. Thanks!

overall story is eat their food, drink their alcohol, then go to the sex club and suck their dicks

If you like beer, Hungary in the recent years discovered the world of craft beers. There are plenty of bars now with quality Hungarian beer, not just at the center. I recommend you to the Kandallo (cozy pub) an the First Local Beer&BBQ (more like a bar, with terrace in the heart of the city) Not tourist scams like Instant but filled with locals. If you want to see authentic rium pub, go to the SzimplaKert (SimpleGarden) or even the Fekete Kutya (Black dog) or Kisüzem (small batch)
Climbing up the Castle Hill or the Gellert is also worth it, especially at dusk, with a bottle of wine, looking down the city as get flooded with the lights of the night.
The central park is almost every summer night filled with students on blankets with shisha, guitar, speakers... kind of like a spontaneus festival. They are very friendly and open people.
There is the Margaret island between Buda and Pest, with the bridge of the same name, that offers one of the best view of the city. The island itself is a huge park with bathhouse, sport fields, pubs (the Stég gives the best langos I ever had!) between ruins of medieval monasteries.
Picrel is also a popular advantage of Budapest tho...

Mate, that is exactly why I love asking for recommendations on SighSee.
I'm polish by the way and good beer is part of my daily life. I can't wait to see what Hungary has to offer in that department. Added to the list. Thank you!

I marked this down, been to Budapest many times as your Croat neighbour. Do you think Szimpla got too touristy over the years or did Covid reset everything? I still think it's crazy unique and everyone should visit it.

If you like beer, Csakajósör ("Only good beer") is a specialty beer shop where you can drink anything you buy. I used to review beer as a hobby, and this place is where many hardcore enthusiasts got educated and passed the knowledge forward. Not amazing as a standalone bar, but more of a piece of beer history.

        I'm
Forgot another thing - if you want The Great Gatsby type of experience, do splurge for a cup of coffee in New York Cafe. Depending on where you live, it may not even be that expensive.

The interior is pure Austro-Hungarian decadence, there was a real person playing piano, and every sip/bite (we got desserts and I got chili coffee) was worth it.

There is similar bar here where I live. Kind of New York in the 1940, with fancy, wooden interior, live music (piano, sax) and people allowed to smoke cigars inside. Amazing place.

Sounds like what you are describing is quite similar. Thanks! We'll definitely visit it!

How do you meet women there?
There’s a lot of them but they’re mostly in groups with their friends or other dudes.
You can’t really dance there like you do at night clubs and get close to women that way.

Honesty like IPA but there are so many kind of beers. IPA, red ale, amber ale, stout, porter, lager, pilsner, bock, witbier, hefeweizen and so on. And all of their combinations.
