Central Europe

Anyone have experience touring on Europe? How long would it take me to comfortably visit the cities in pic related. I'd like to take in the natural vistas of central europe, is traveling by train good for that? I'm thiking a 10 to 15 day visit. Is that feasable?

Some cities I could take or leave but I definely want to visit Paris, Germany and Definetly want to end my trip on Italy since it has most of what I want to see. Anywhere in between I'm just trying to fill in to see cool places while I move around.

Other random questions are:
>Best time of year to visit? As in for natural beauty.
>Is it worth renting a car? Specially if you might drive accross countries.
Any advice would be appreciated.

You have a peculiar route, going out of your way to visit cities like Frankfurt and Bern that aren't common tourist destinations.
Your route or an optimised one can be easily done by car, in fact London-Amsterdam and Paris are places you don't want to drive.
As for nature, outside of Switzerland you do want to have a car, for inter-city travel you will be more comfortable by train, plus France and Italy have highway tolls.

If you have only 10 - 15 days, just stay in one or two countries at max

For burgers: Amsterdam-Rome is double the driving time than Boston-DC.

The thing is, Americans think nothing of driving between Boston and DC for a weekend.

as a burger who has done something somewhat similar over the past two summers- i will say to try and stay out of the bigger cities-.
some of the greatest charms in Central Europe are the smaller towns in Germany, Austria, and northern italy.

MIlan, Frankfurt- there is not much to see as far as tourism go- they are just big cities. London and Paris if you have never been- but again other than a few iconic tourist destinations- they are ultimately just big cities with similar offerings.

thats wrong, but if you're saying avoid cities thats fair.

Frankfurt does suck but Milan offers a frickton of things to do and see.
Unlike a lot of other towns and cities in Italy Milan doesn't survive solely on tourism though. It's a "real city" which is not what tourists want to experience when they're on holiday.
