Just live in a suburb and it's comfy as fuck. Tons of stuff to do. They have a hockey team. Tons of concerts/shows. Toy/anime conventions.
Be sure to know how to use a roundabout though. They seem to be everywhere.
Lived there 1999-2016 It was fun for the first 10 years. Plenty of things to do. Or if some band i like might be in Cinci one night & Cleavland the next & its just a few hours North or South. ( If not playing in Columbus ) Very liberal Blue city but still a hint of RED NECK Ohiobilly vibe. Somewhere outside of the city might be all right but very large ghetto areas you do not want to go after dark or anytime. Plenty of tweakers / Oxy junkies everywhere. People getting robbed on / around Campus. It got a little to BLACK for me. Then they started bringing in all the Somalians & crime shot way up. ( & those fuckers brought an out of control BED BUGS problems that all my friends moved out of their apartments ) . My area was up North @270 & Cleavland area. Slowly became a WARZONE. Gun shots & Police Helicopters every night. Used to be a nicer area with alot of Doctors / Nurses families With the Hospital being right there. NOT ANY MORE. I decided it was time to move on. Sold my condo for a small loss from what I paid & moved to Montana / Florida. And unless you eat & breath BUCKEYE foot ball the whole city goes crazy on game days. Live near campus might get your car torched if they lose. Also lets talk about the GAY community &Drag queen bars & parades everywhere .
Used to go Blue Jacket games all the time. WTF? happened to them? They are the worst team in the league right now.
Here OP. I still follow this Youtube POLICE BODY CAM
Decide for yourself. ME the city is FUCKED . outside/suburbs are not that bad. But it's just not for me.. I got OUT & would never go back.

Imagine being so ignorant. Criminals never move around in public transportation because its super slow and police easily can follow the route. You are brainwashed by the car industry garden gnomes into believing that cheap, safe and clean transportation is bad.
Columbus is soulless, like Dallas or Houston. It's just strip mall after strip mall of chain stores and restaurants. German Village is like 10 blocks, it's hardly a destination. You can eat at one restaurant and go to a bookstore, who gives a shit. You can also go to the gay clothing store and get tested for AIDS (seriously)
So what was your AIDS test result? Positive I assume?
As someone who actually just got done scratching it off my list of possible places to move to, IMO not really.
Pro's: >low housing costs >spread out enough to not be too cramped >all four seasons >fairly broad job infrastructure >highway can get you around quickly >fairly low cost of living compared to other places
Con's >low pay without maintaining a gov job, healthcare, or remote job >old houses will all but require some renovations or pay out the ass for something new >car basically required, not the worst but winter can make a bike/motorcycle useless with how shit the roads get >downtown is pretty grabage and in the middle of another migration COVID did a number on it >job market is far more susceptible to recessions
If you can basically buy a house out right you should be okay, just know that the job market is pretty meh depending on the sector you work in
It’s actually not that bad. Depends how much money you have, but there are some very nice upper class suburbs in Columbus. Way better than the rest of Ohio, that’s for sure.
Columbus isn't bad but if you have other options it's probably not in the top 10 places to move for work/life unless you have more than enough saved for a house.
German village is just a small neighborhood in part of the city. To be honest with you most of it outside the center is your typical suburban neighborhoods with big box stores and strip malls, not nearly as charming.
There are a few other cities that have this nice quaint historic vibe. Charleston, SC, Savannah, GA, Georgetown, DC, Boston/Cambridge, MA come to mind. There's probably a few others in New England that im neglecting to mention
Holy projection Batman. Nah it’s MIDwest cause there’s nothing to do except get grinder out under the capitalist wheel. Do you like having 4 average hikes and the same night of going to the bar till you’re 30 then settling down forever working a $17 job? Then the Midwest is here for you friend!
Nope... it really is boring as fuck.
you simple have never lived differently. I was stuck there working for 7 months. It was boring and the food pretty much sucked. even the pizza which is really hard to fuck up. Youre most likely used to shit tier food and live a shit tier midwest life.. because it really does suck in columbus.
Can confirm that Columbus has incredible food. The caveat is I was there on a press trip so obviously they only took us to excellent places. I travel a lot for work and pleasure, otherwise I probably would want to live somewhere more interesting, but as it is I like living in a calm environment with good food. Columbus would be nice I think but ideally I'd like to live in an even smaller city.
Been living in Columbus for nearly 10 years now so I know the city pretty well. It's not even remotely similar to Baltimore, I'm not sure where you heard that from. It's generally a good city to live in imho. If you're a libtard don't come here, there's enough of you gays here already.
PROS: >affordable property relative to other larger cities (altough getting pricey quick) >relatively low cost of living >good number of well paying white collar jobs in government, insurance, banking, education, and tech >the freeway system is really well laid out and traffic isnt that bad even at rush hour >great arts scene with many galleries across the city and a good music scene. You get touring acts from all genres stop here >food scene is great too, Columbus punches above its wait in this category. You can everything from street food to ethnic to fine dining. There are like 4 different food halls and a kajillion breweries. You will never ever run out of new places to eat/drink. >it's a growing city with a booming population, the number of new buildings ive seen go up in the last decade is staggering >there's a lot of really nice neighborhoods in the center and great suburbs >there are no homeless encapments all over the place like on the left coast. That shit is not allowed >great parks
CONS: >homeless people are allowed to panhandle for some reason so you still see them at major intersections and freeway offramps. Gross. >very corrupt city government >it's a dumping ground for somali refugees so they're all over >most of the city is not walkable, just a few neighborhoods >public transport (buses) are bad >the only pro sports are soccer and hockey (and minor league baseball), you want to watch anything else it's going to be Ohio State or a trip to Cincinnati or Cleveland >most of the new apartment buildings are cheaply and hastily constructed, sit near railroad tracks, and are overpriced
Bongland honestly might be less depressing than Ohio, despite the grim weather, food, and “architecture”. Would be interesting to live there, but I live here.

I got wined and dined there and it seemed like a wonderful place. Given I was around PR people promoting the city the whole time I can't really say how accurate that impression is though.
my research tells me to be wary of moving to Columbus Ohio

You type like an actual boomer
Sorry . Had to kill some time & ended up in a coffee shop. I am pretty wired. FUCK OHIO!
"Heh reposting this to facebook"
Pittsburgh is better
pittsburgh would easily be the best city in usa if it had a fucking decent rail system.
Poorfag doesn't understand that public transportation helps morons move around and commit crimes in nice areas
>poorfag
i just dont like owning a car and i like riding the train. deal with it.
What kind of mutant doesn't like having a car?
not gonna shit up the thread with your poor attempts at trolling.
>What kind of mutant doesn't like having a car?
people with Asperger's which sounds like this fucking train boi
Imagine being so ignorant. Criminals never move around in public transportation because its super slow and police easily can follow the route. You are brainwashed by the car industry garden gnomes into believing that cheap, safe and clean transportation is bad.
Crimemaps speak otherwise.
For what? Pittsburgh is not even that big.
Pittsburgh is so much better it's not close to a fair comparison.
t. lived in Columbus for 6 years
Pittsburgh literally peaked in the 1950s
So what was your AIDS test result? Positive I assume?
Nope, prep is working as intended
Baltimore? Lmao what the fuck are you taking about.
>Ohio
No yankee state is worth living in. Especially a rustbelt one.
T. Inbred Alabaman

Also, yeah, definitely nothing like Balitmore. Not even close. Maybe if we were talking about Cleveland.
Columbus isn't bad but if you have other options it's probably not in the top 10 places to move for work/life unless you have more than enough saved for a house.
Britbong who's never heard of the place until this thread but that pic looks comfy as fuck, any other cities in the USA/Canada with that aesthetic?
Most cities in the midwest
The photo was taken in German Village, Columbus
Colonial towns
Don't listen to this retard

most of the midwest is boring
Boring is good
I swear people who say something is boring just mean its overly white.

Big fucking loser alert. Do you still live with mommy too?
Nope... it really is boring as fuck.

I think it's good to live somewhere that's somewhat boring, like Columbus, but travel a lot to more interesting places.
Good for you, if thats your thing.
You didnt mention the food part...

Gtfo conservatard. Tired of you lot.
Come over the pond and make me, britbong
Bongland honestly might be less depressing than Ohio, despite the grim weather, food, and “architecture”. Would be interesting to live there, but I live here.
>libtard
This.. pretty much sums up why columbus is simply a boring flyover full of whiney chuds..
and the food sucks.
Columbus is soulless, like Dallas or Houston. It's just strip mall after strip mall of chain stores and restaurants. German Village is like 10 blocks, it's hardly a destination. Columbus is fine if you've given up on life.
Isn’t it true that Ohio, and especially Columbus, have a high rate of sex trafficking crimes?
Idk probably. I-70 cuts straight through west to east and is a major drug trafficking route so I assume people move the same way
I got wined and dined there and it seemed like a wonderful place. Given I was around PR people promoting the city the whole time I can't really say how accurate that impression is though.
Columbus
I would like to choose a vowel, Alex.
