Cultural exchange in Italy: how?

This is my first ever post on this board, be nice. :3

So, I’m an Italian living in Italy, in Milano precisely, and since I’m bored and depressed I figured out that in order to make new friends and have experiences with real people I could meet them IRL via something that could be called a cultural exchange.

Years ago a friend of mine was studying Japanese and enrolled in a community (I don’t remember the website) where people who were studying a language and wanted to talk with locals who spoke the language as their mother tongue could meet and practice in real life, so she arranged a dinner with two Japanese girls who were studying Italian and viceversa she could practice her Japanese at the same time.

I know English and I can manage a full conversation without effort even though I’m not fluent, so I was wondering if there is some way to arrange something like what I described above but rather than the focus being on practicing the language it would be on visiting a city or an area of my country with a local “guide” (me) who can show people unusual places, where to get local food rather than the meme dishes that everybody knows or the right places to buy products from that are not known to tourists and aren’t mainstream, all of this however while talking in English or Italian.

Is there a website or a community that could help me arrange something like this?

It could be as quick as half a day, an activity like visiting a museum and having launch/dinner subsequently, something friendly to make new friends.

Thanks

While I agree with you, consider that you’re 30 minutes away from the Como Lake District, 1 hour and something away from the mountains in Bergamo and so on. It’s a strategic location to start from because you have at your disposal a lot of places to see.

If I was to host a tourist for say half a day I would take him visit the Alfa Romeo museum in Arese (15 minutes from Milan by car), have a nice traditional Milanese lunch in a restaurant or an aperitivo at a famous Italian brewery called Birrificio Italiano in a small village 30 minutes away.

nice, you got the rare projectile vomiting pepe NFT as your reward for making your first post

as for your question, you should be able to find something like that through any number of apps for meeting people to hang out, there are likely plenty of travelers or visitors who would be interested

interpals and websites like that also are a good option

      Thanks anon.

Since I’m to some extent a closet weeb, I’d like to host Japanese tourists because reasons (well I’d love to chat with a real Japanese person and talk about our cultures IRL rather than reading articles online), also because that way I’d be basically sure to meet polite and civilised people, however other European tourists are welcome as long as they don’t ask me to eat pasta with ketchup or similar things.

I’ll take a look at the app you suggested.

Quick question: are these apps/websites safe? I don’t want to be robbed/raped/stalked lmao.

I'm European but I was taught Japanese by real Japanese people. I will not rob you nor stab you but if you are attractive, I might rape you regardless of sex. Hopefully there will be some attraction between us to warrant consensual sex.
When are we doing this, OP?

I'd enjoy that OP. I used to own an Alfa Romeo.

I'm homosexual if that matters but I won't make you reciprocate.

Alfa Romeo museum is kino anon, it’s one of these places that everyone visiting Milano should see.
It’s cool both for the car enthusiasts and art enjoyers, for obvious reasons.
