Decent Backpack?

Currently in Germany and wanted to take a trip to Italy, first to Bolzano and then Florence as I know some people in both cities. The trip will be done by bus and train, so I wanted to know what kind of backpack people recommend for this kind of travel, as my current one is really small and just used for school supplies.

If you're poor get the Osprey 40L
If you like decent stuff the Peak Design Travel Bag

On a related note, normally I travel with full sized slippers like these:
    https://m.kohls.com/product/prd-4532996/champion-super-slide-mens-slide-sandals.jsp

But they take up a lot of space when packing. Are the slippers that 3-4 star hotels give for free a good enough replacement to save space? See attached pic.

I could just try them at my current hotel, but I don’t want to open the plastic and then housekeeping has to throw them away if they absolutely suck.

They are a decent replacement for purely indoor usage, wear them outside once and they're ruined.

I've read a lot of positive reviews about Osprey 40L bags but the only disadvantage is you WILL look like a stereotypical tourist wherever you go.

If you wear a 30-40l backpack every time you go out like those moronic hostel country hoppers in Europe, you’ll always out yourself as a tourist without speaking. It doesn’t matter what backpack it is.

I would recommend to get a small stuff sackable messenger style bag to hold a charger, water bottle, stuff you may buy, to bring a jacket for night or to strip off a layer of clothing — instead of taking your huge travel backpack everywhere like those morons. I got a Quechua stuffable messenger bag for this niche.

That's why you buy a bag with a daypack or a bigger backpack that allows you to easily take a messenger bag with you.

Huh? You didn't understand my post. From staying at hostels I notice many of those morons literally never unpack anything and literally bring their large 30l-40l or bigger backpack everywhere they go even after they arrive at a hostel. I think part of the reason is because so many of those morons in Europe are hopping between 5-12 cities in different countries in one vacation, so maybe they don't want to impact:

Anyway I would advise any travel to get a smaller stuff sackable bag like this Quechua Hiking Ultra-Compact Satchel that I got years ago. This show how it stuff sacks, its 2 water bottle pockets and three total pockets:

Most of the time when I am walking about in a city on foot I have it with me. It is very handy for peeling of a layer a clothing if you get too hot or bringing extra for when it gets colder at night. I also use it to keep my charger, headphones, eyeglass case, water, when I am traveling on buses or airplanes.

Agreed the 40L bright orange backpacks everywhere you go is super cringe. It’s so weird to me like it’s not even comfortable carrying that shit around all day yet I see other tourists doing it constantly. They always have the hip strap strapped too for the complete effect

I think the morons that do that are often one and the same idiots who incessantly country hop and at most stay for 1-3 days in a country. So maybe they get sick of unpacking and repacking and cope by leaving everything in their backpack and just fish through it when they need something? That is my guess. But even so, how can they enjoy visiting a country and walking with a heavy backpack within a mile or two mile radius from their hostel?

Also here is the Quechua messenger bag I recommend for when you are going to spend most the day walking about:

They changed the name since I bought it, it is now the "Compact Travel Pouch 15L". Btw, if you live in the USA, last I checked there is at least one Decathlon store in California and if you don't live there you can get it shipped to you. It is under $10.

So you are saying people you travel with carry around their 40 L backpack with all their stuff everywhere they go day in day out? Going to museums and clubs and restaurants and prostitutehouses and whatever normies do?That's amazing. And you hang out with these people?

I've just seen people doing that at Greek hostels. I've also been walking about or bicycling and see moronic tourists with 30 liter or bigger backpacks.

I'm not saying I travel around with them or know them.

Everyone has to have seen such idiots if they have traveled enough. It really boggles my mind why they would do that.

My guess is that they country hop or move from hostel to hostel(with a bus or train) so much that they end up coping with that grind by never really unpacking:

You're a moron, I told you what I normally take if I am out walking. If I think it is a very short walking trip, I take nothing. If I think I may be out all day I take a slim Quechua messenger bag with some bare necessities.

If I am going to bicycle, I take my Brompton and my Quecha if I am going to lock up often. If I am going to bicycle long and not lock up, I take my Brompton and its T-bag.

If I am hiking I hopefully have my hiking backback with me and its water bladder.
