Don't care. I don't use social media. Some people have always flexed they travel with never actually enjoying their trip. Who cares.

Instagram is merely an outlet to display your past experiences. Take it as you will but the stuff people post won't affect you in your day to day life

Having no social media in 2023 isn't the flex you think it is unless you're in your 50s. Might of passed 5 years ago but it's so engrained in current culture that its a red flag if you're in it.

      >it was nice meeting you, you have IG or something so we can keep in touch or arrange to meet up tomorrow?
      > no lol frick social media. heres my email

Except there's now a growing anti social media sentiment among zoomers and young milennials, it's still in the minority but I've met plenty of attractive girls that either don't have instagram or use it just as a messaging app and rarely if ever post
Social media being toxic and shitty isn't some fringe idea anymore, lots of young people totally get it if you say you aren't into it

This. I’m 22 years old and got rid of snap, insta, and tiktok. In 2 days I’m also downgrading to a “dumb” smart phone that can basically call, get WhatsApp, and has the most basic ass internet connection. Tech has ruined human interaction and experiences, ever since I got rid of social media I’ve been actually doing shit instead of pretending to do shit. Im less stressed, I’m happier, and I’ve improved a lot. Whenever I tell people around me what I’ve done they tell me it’s cool and they wish they could too. The only people I’ve ever met that find it off putting is certain women who are so socialized that if they see you don’t have an insta they think you’re a fricking rapist or something. That’s a huge minority though. If anything I’m more fun than the gay on the phone at the table so people turn to talk to me instead.

You need social media to make it.
The social pariah effect of not being on social media is extraordinary. Do not fall for the common SighSee copes. The men trying to convince you that you'll be a more attractive stoic alpha male if you abstain often suffer from bouts of depression and loneliness in between posting about how smart they are for not liking 'gay normie shit' that 'only shallow people care about'.

EVERYONE is influenced by social media. Why do you think it is a global phenomena with billions of users from every country on the planet?
Do you think someone handsome with 30k followers is going to spend hours coping on how unfair the social dynamics of social media are? No, the cute girl you have a crush on just liked his vacation selfie. Generally speaking, if you have no presence or a shitty profile, people are going to come to the conclusion that you're lower status and that you have something to hide. Paradoxically, even the crabs trying to convince you that they are Marcus Aurelius II for not posting pictures online are also influenced by follower counts. Everyone, even normies, like to pretend it doesn't matter when prompted, when it clearly matters a lot.

Anecdotal experiences about how 'I have a gf and don't have social media' are the exception. Of course, rationally speaking, you don't NEED to do anything since social status is so fluid and context dependent, but you're really shooting yourself in the foot for no reason. Never in the history of this species has it been easier to take control of your personal image, present yourself as attractive and high status in any context you choose, and to reach and be available to as many people as possible

If the thought of posting on social media terrifies you, that means you're aware that you're unattractive and have a boring life. If you think it is 'effort' to use social media to your advantage, that's a sign. You should fix that, pronto.

I've heard a lot of people say that they've actually had better dating success on mainstream social media (insta, twitter, discord, etc.) than explicit dating apps. I guess this sort of makes sense. It takes a lot of pressure off interactions when they aren't consciousness of the explicit romantic/sexual friction, plus they're more of a equal female/male split. I also speculate you can easily make yourself more 'personable' because you have a post history and what not ,whereas on dating apps you just have a bio to work with.

I have a twitter, but it's anon and I just have it reserved for niche autistic interest like fringe politics, crypto, SighSeeence shit. I've been considering making an insta just to have one and just it as an alt dating site.

Instagram has made a handful of highly photogenic spots unbearable irl

trollatunga for example, if you go there then you have to join a queue if you want to go to the lip. Every one of those pics has about five people impatiently waiting for their turn. another anon showed Pisa. Venice is like this. London. Paris. Iceland. If it is hash tagged it is ruined.

Went up Ben Nevis recently. There was a queue twenty strong for selfies at the trig point the U.K. mapping agency had put at the pinnacle. Highest point in any direction for hundreds of miles and spoiled by influencers

Instagram completely and single handedly ruined travel. I’m an oldgay travelcel and started back in 2004, it was so nice back then and things were much less crowded. Most notably was the lack of hissing roasties acting like they own the place and narcing on people they think shouldnt be in their photoshoots.

In the mid-2010s the instagram tourists started to pour into europe, man that sucked, that’s how portugal got ruined. And they are geneuinely the worst of all tourist types, the rudest, snidest, least interested in interacting with anyone, on their phones 24/7, and searching for people to make a scene over.

      >started back in 2004, it was so nice back then and things were much less crowded.

World population has increased by almost 2 billion since 2004. Growing middle class + new airplane/airline innovations resulting in dirt cheap tickets affected crowds more than Instagram. The fact that everyone has a palm sized camera in their pocket and not a bulky point and shoot changed the perception of travel more than Instagram. You think a single app revolutionized a multi trillion dollar industry?

fahrenheit is easy to get an intuitive sense of
        >0 and 100 F are pretty much the coldest and hottest you can expect it to get in a temperate climate
        >so you can correctly intuit that 55 is just an "okay" slightly warm temperature
meanwhile the equivalent of that 0-100 scale in celsius is -18 to 38, yet celsius is touted as the more logical system lmao

          Anonymous

          >0 and 100 F are pretty much the coldest and hottest you can expect it to get in a temperate climate
          >so you can correctly intuit that 55 is just an "okay" slightly warm temperature
Kek someone trying to intuit a comfortable temperature on a 0-100 scale would say 50, but room temperature in Fahrenheit is 70, so this is just wrong.

Celsius makes more sense anywhere it snows, basically anywhere white people come from.
Water freezes at 0 degrees so you always know when you're going to see snow, when you need to wear a winter coat, when the ground freezes, etc. It's the most logical because of that, you instantly get recognizably useful information without having to think about it just as an emergent property of the scale.

Fahrenheit makes no sense, water freezes at 32, room temperature is at 70, basically two completely arbitrary numbers, have to remember 32 and 70 to get a good sense of what it will feel like.
With Celsius you only need to remember room temperature is 20 and it's easier to get a sense of what temperature feels like because you have that baseline where 0 = freezing water.

            Anonymous

The 0 = freezing thing is literally the only thing celsius has going for it, and that's not even relevant most of the time in most places
            >Kek someone trying to intuit a comfortable temperature on a 0-100 scale would say 50
homie wtf are you talking about, who thinks a comfortable temperature means neither warm nor cold, right in the middle? Comfortable = warm

Fahrenheit is not only more intuitive for day to day usage but it also allows more precision. just accept it

              Anonymous

100 is boiling water. 0 is frozen water. Fahrenheit has nothing intuitive.

What is the thing that Fahrenheit has going for it? It being more "intuitive" is completely subjective, why is it more intuitive for room temperature to be 70 units instead of 20 units?
              >"Fahrenheit set zero at the lowest temperature he could get a water and salt mixture to reach."
Hmm I wonder what is more useful to base your measurements on, the qualities of a substance our entire lives are based around or some arbitrary liquid mix by some guy in the 1700s? Why do you morons get so defensive over measurement systems?

              Anonymous

              >homie wtf are you talking about, who thinks a comfortable temperature means neither warm nor cold, right in the middle? Comfortable = warm
nah you're wrong, comfortable is neither warm nor cold, it's exactly where you don't feel warm or cold.
If you feel warm then you want to cool off, if you feel cold then you want to warm up, when you want neither then you're neither warm nor cold.
This is just your brain being psyoped from using the 0-100 Fahrenheit scale where 50 isn't comfortable, and you think you need to get warmer to 70 to hit room temperature and be comfortable.
              >it also allows more precision
An imperceptible amount, nobody gives a frick if it's 14 degrees (57F) vs 15 degrees (59F).
If there is something that needs precision they'll be using decimals for both C and F anyway.
Face it, Celsius is just superior.

Unless you’re attractive and have good photos to use off the bat, you’ll find tinder to be an ego crusher, even if you’re a genuinely attractive person. If you’ve had bad luck dating, I recommend finding a hobby that allows you to casually chat up random women. Example: rock climbing…plenty of young attractive women there and most everyone is pretty social.
