step 1. get a cheap apartment in a state with no income tax
step 1a. if salary is determined by location make it close to a big city like Seattle or Houston
step 2. get a fully remote job, ignore any stipulations about where you need to live.
step 3. travel abroad. use a VPN if you want to spoof your traffic location but it's doubtful they will check

At some point they'll wisen up and fire you, but depending on how good you are at your job and how wide the gap is between your actual job(s) and your objective skill level the more it'll take for them to realize. You can be working three or four junior dev jobs at the same time relatively easily if you're charming, apologetic and white enough so that your coworkers and middle management cuts you enough slack.
Do keep in mind you need several "full time" jobs, so they need to be either middle management or junior dev positions. You cant have one actual full time full focus job.

You should actually be hanged for claiming $7.25 is a living wage. Propagandist shill. A single burger at fast food places can cost more.2 bedroom apartments are like $800++ a month without counting utilities.

To pay for that you would need to work a clean 110 hours. 3.5 weeks in a month of 40 hours each totals 140 hours. Subtracting the hours spent paying for rent you have 30hrs of work left over with equals to $217.

You would have $217 left for all your monthly expenses. Food, phone bill, internet, debt, medicine and medical bills, car payments, emergencies, and lets not forget: entertainment.

Assuming you have all of those, and still want to save, that would mean you could afford to allocate just under $22 a month to each of those things.

And I am being as generous as I possibly can with these numbers. Not accounting for tax or utilities, lowballing the frick out of the price of a tiny apartment in a shitty neighborhood, and assuming you are actually given a full 40hrs a week consistently, and you never need to take a day off.

Point is, frick you, you are worse than a dog, worse than a worm. I spit at you and curse your ancestors. Get Pulsa Denura'd

Nice non argument. I am not saying anyone should aim for minimum wage I am directly addressing the people who claimed you could thrive at minimum wage. If you could thrive at minimum wage then I think it would be a fine goal, but this is not the case.

dude white castle pays $20 starting most states are well above federally mandated wage you should be hanged for insisting all minimum wage employees are stuck working for $7 when the reality is often 2-3x that

          Anonymous

Ok, but not in every state, and certainly not my state. I live in one of the original 13 colonies, a state just about as American as you can get, and minimum is $7.25

And I happen to know for a fact those states where minimum is much higher businesses just jack their prices up too. In NY where minimum is $15, cigarettes cost that at a minimum.

And if whitecastle isn't starting at minimum wage then it isn't even a factor in this conversation.

idgaf about your stupid fricking memes I just posted to mathematically show how difficult it is to survive on minimum wage and how you absolutely cant live off it in normal circumstances. And no wage sheds (cope sheds?) are not normal circumstances. Do you think THAT many move in ready sheds even exist?

              https://i.imgur.com/SKWYTyV.jpg

Honestly bro I feel for you, I really do. You shouldn't have to live like that. I know small spaces can be comfy and some even prefer that, but no one should feel forced or pressured into that just to have a roof over their head. I just don't understand how you can live in that tiny, old, beat up environment and not think it's fricked up.

Im glad you found something that works for you, but how can you claim it's somehow good for people. How can you claim people don't deserve more dignity? We used to have land, and beautiful land at that. Now your in some hong kong style place. You hardly even have room to stand up and stretch. Its the size of a prison cell.

remember how i mentioned the drugs? anyway it’s 15 in metro cities where wage is 20
in suburbs it’s 15/hr starting and 10 for a pack of cigs
get food stamps and stop wasting your money on drugs
800 rent with a roommate 1200/no working 20hrs a week what’s the problem no roommate get more hours or tips

Its an example. And yes ofc rural areas are going to be cheaper, and living with room mates helps, but what about the people born and raised in the inner city where everything is already super expensive? It is not always feasible to just up and move, that assumes a lot of things. Not just money to make it happen, but also the freedom to take time away from whatever your responsibilities are to actually make the move happen. You're picking at edge cases and making assumptions.

              >Yeah bro haha minimum is comfy just move to the country, get a room mate, and rely on government handouts which could be reduced or taken away without you being able to do anything about it.

Yeah, I am not saying its outright a bad way to live, I even considered it myself for sometime. But this is a very niche thing and is definitely not for everyone. You cant just say "oh minimum wage is fine because I can do it by living in a shed". Like wtf that is such a leap in logic. Ascetic lifestyles, while clearly attractive to a lot of us in this thread, myself included, are not common and are in the extreme. You cant claim it's acceptable for everyone because a small minority find ways to deal with it.

Then work harder so you don't have to worry about living in a shack. People are so fricking lazy these days.

trying to divert the argument. This started from these posts:

you dont need a tech job and you dont need a bachelors degree. american minimum wagenis enough to give you a good quality of life if you know how to do it

actually factual and you have enough to consoom left over
the people who claim this isnt the case are 100% of the time addicted to drugs

Which claim minimum gives you a "good quality of life" and "Enough to consoom left over"

Obviously no one should just be content with minimum. Obviously you work harder in these scenarios. These have NEVER been a part of the debate

                Anonymous

Then why are you continuing to debate? It's pretty obvious that if you have your head on right, you can escape the minimum with relative ease, leave those shit jobs to millennials that will forever be retail workers.

                Anonymous

Because it is offensive propaganda to proclaim that minimum wage is totally comfy and fine. And just because you know what you should be doing doesn't always mean you are capable of making it happen. Unfortunately some people really are just unlucky and are in bad positions. You can't just brush them off as "millennials". Working shitty minimum wage jobs in my teens and as a young adult I had significantly more elderly coworkers than millennials. Don't the elderly deserve more dignity than to die alone in a wage shed? Bad things happen anon, medical bills, it can take out even people doing their best to prepare.

You are an edge case and you know it. I am not sure how much of this is cope and how much of it is genuine but it doesn't really matter. Not everyone can be ascetic minimalists, you know this to be true, but claim otherwise.

Good for you, you are ok living with extreme restrictions, im glad. But you don't really have a place here. You cant disprove my argument with bullshit anecdotal evidence. AGAIN, how many move in ready sheds do you even think exist across the states? That isn't even legal in most places.

You are literally, statistically, an edge case. How many people are living in $350 sheds? I looked it up the average cost for a one bedroom apartment in my area is just under 1.4k. So again, just because you managed to make it work, does not mean many other people can. And for the THIRD time; how many move in ready sheds do you think they are, and do you not realize in most places that would be an illegal dwelling?

What about all the people who live in cities who cant just "go ask around town" because no one has a fricking shed in the city. Further proving that this isn't accessible to everyone. And you still haven't addressed the fact this isn't legal in most places. Does the county know your residence is a person's shed anon?

                >"N-no! I own this shed!!!"
That wont mean shit if they decide to evict you.
                >"Oh but the owner wont evict me"
A friendly reminder that this isn't about your bullshit ultra specific scenario. Living in a shed is not feasible for most people and minimum is not a living wage despite your alleged happiness.
