Digital Nomadism

Has anyone successful snagged a remote gig and used it to sustain travel?

Was thinking traveling Europe and Iceland while working as a softwaregay, but how plausible is it really?

Also, any technical advise around maintaining a stable connection while traveling around?

It's possible, if you can do it already little is holding you back outside possibly your boss not allowing for oversea work.
    >, but how plausible is it really?
thousands if not millions do it already, it just comes down to if you can manage it
    >Also, any technical advise around maintaining a stable connection while traveling around?
Book a hotel with wifi, have a data sim ready to go if you need it.

What would be the aspects that need management? Food, hotel expenses, language, or is there something else a Burger working remotely in Europe would need to know?

        > Burger working remotely in Europe would need to know?

Making sure you can actually do what you want, I did summer in europe and while it was good it did kind of suck having to spend X time window near my laptop vs. pint with the locals.
Ensuring that connectivity to work such as VPN/remote services aren't blocked from outside the US
Being able to schedule yourself getting around places and juggle work at the same time
Ensuring whatever countries you intend to use as visa hops aren't going to frick your availability up
Finding a place to stay that won't burn a hole in your pocket

This may not be a direct answer but I did trading (stock, options, etc) back around 2005-6 and I did it from several places, not just Europe. Did the meme 'trading from the beaches of Thailand' for a few months. I had enough cushion with money to the point where I could go pretty much wherever I wanted...not a huge cushion, but enough. Back then, the internet wasn't the best in all first world places, never mind the third world.
My advice is if you can do everything via internet, I would travel as much as possible. Its fun, and you won't regret doing it. The hard part obviously is getting the job....from my travels prior to Covid, my experience is that the internet is actually pretty good in most places, but you actually may have to fend off rolling electrical blackouts as a bigger problem.
The one big problem I remember was the time difference for trading...not sure if that would be a problem in your case.
If you ever do find a fully remote job, take a week long trip to somewhere like Ireland or Germany to get your feet wet with overseas problems and go from there!
    Good luck!

I sometimes wonder if it would be better to have a remote job and trying to travel that way or have a job with x amount of time on and x amount time off that gives enough unpaid time off for travel.

I don't have anything tying me down besides how much time I get off with a 9-5 tier job looking for a change myself don't mind starting at the bottom in a career path again.

      I've done both,

Precovid my job was my company sending me all kinds of places for work. While it is/was fun, the bigger problem is that you're almost always under someones magnifying glass. It's always stupid shit too like, "Gee anon I see you're not booked to fly out after you're done at X location, why?" or "No anon you need to be at X on monday, so you can't stay in Y city for the rest of the week/next few days". Usually accommodations are paid and with the right company you can bank to your personal accounts. Far better on the wallet, but your time can be easily shafted.

Since 2018 My job has been nearly entirely project based so I can basically pull ass 1-3 days then frick off other than responding to the occasional email here or there. I have to fork out more cash, assure my boss(not that he cares) that I am getting all my shit done wherever I am in the world, but have the most freedom. The gotcha' is that unlike being set to places for work I can be in some place like this summer when I was in Finland but work decided BIG FRICKING PROJECT took up my weeks there kinda fricking me out of a lot of exploration. If I had my prior 'work sends me to place' once 5PM hits I am out for the day or know well ahead of time my hours.

Neither is better or worse than the other imo, but grass will always be greener.

What's your career? Your job since 2018 sounds like a sweet gig even if massive projects can mess up schedules a bit.

      >new %100 remote job.
Just be careful this isn't remote within the country of employment, a lot of people can get burned by this
      >I'm making $160k now which isn't much so
This is either a humble brag or you have no idea about the world
protip: that's not a small salary anywhere
