What is there to do in this country? Is it really just:
>1. Go see salt lake
>2. Go see other lake
>okay that's it, go home.
Like at that point, why even BE a country?

i dont know why you would go
someone liked being in poverty countries interacting with the locals, but it has to be a country that your traveler peers are less likely to have gone to?
It's one of the least visited countries in the world.
As a geopolitical entity it has a fairly solid foundation.
There's a reason for that, retard.
There's more than one reason for that, retard.
Djibouti and Eritrea only exist to deny Ethiopia access to the ocean and make it a landlocked country. European fuckery.
That's fucked up. I heard a lot of Djiboutians identify as Somalis though.
Some are afar some are somali there are both actors for unification for somalia (mostly supported by somalis) and with Ethiopia(mostly supported by afars and a few somalis who have clan issues with mainland somalis and or have connections with ethiosomalis ) but they seem to have chosen independence, haikesilasaie was going to occupy it before he was ousted.
I thought it existed so I can say I touched djibouti?
Who the fuck would wake up one day and say "yep im going to Djibouti"
It's kinda like when you wake one day and decide "yep im going to wash my ass today" Priorities. Some people want to explore the deepest depths of the world, others don't want to even explore the deepest depths of their own bodies.
ive heard people say it could be a dubai one day is that true? it's in an important trading region and its well protected by various foreign military bases.
Dubai is Dubai because UAE has huge oil and gas deposits. Yes the country is in an important location for military establishments, but I don't see how it could become more than a 3rd world shithole.
to get all up in djibouti
Thx bros, I decided to go. If there's anything you think I should check out, let me know. If it's interesting/cool, I'll share some photos and do a write-up when I get back.
There's the only forest in the country on the other side of the bay. And apparently the capital has a french style old town but I havent been able to find much information. I think on the north coast there's some fishing villages too but I dont know how worth it that would be. Godspeed friend, post pictures
>why even BE a country?
Blame the French, who called dibs on the only port in the region.
As to why they don't just join Ethiopia? The local elite class is too vested in keeping the current way of doing things alive.
it's just a giant us military base
Also Chinese military base because the Djibouti government said "why not both?"
And French and British bases.
The forest is apparently a dead forest with mixed ratings, I think I’ll give it a miss. I only have enough to do for about 2 days I think. Not sure what I’ll do the rest of the time. Dive and swim, I guess.
