Somaliland (Hargeysa and around) is almost safe enough to travel. Easiest with local contacts, but no armed escort required. Friend of mine (who has also been to real Somalia a couple of times for work, although he nearly lost his job for going overland to Mogadishu) has spent a lot of time there.

Ethiopian bro here, i sont k ow about native somali histroical areaa but ik there are a good amount of eastern abyssinian ruins(cities,forts,walls,ports) in the Ethiopian somali region and northern part of somali land, its generally safe to travel to the Ethiopian side dont know about kenya
