I knew someone who went but it was a dude and tall so probably not sexually harassed but also asian. He didn't say any negative at the time but who knows, maybe he avoided Cairo.
All O ever hear is to avoid Cairo at all costs. Nothing about it is safe and you can't trust anyone. Go to another part and get guided tours. And although it's hot cover up, it's for your safety. One you don't stand out, two you can hide money under that so you'll noticr someone trying to lift up your whole curtain outfit to pickpocket you. Also try to film or at least pretend, there is no law against it and it gives evidence and makes the scammers less brave.
Just being honest, it is regularly rated the worst tourist country.
i went for ten days last year. it was fucking amazing. there's not really much to see there unless your into the antiquites - I am. Cairo was very safe in my experience, i was travelling with my gf and we walked everywhere, day and night.
food was great, people we friendly generally -
the worst hassle is unsurprisingly by the pyramids. if you've only ever been to europe/USA then it might be a bit of a shock, but if you've travelled idependantly in say india/se asia/s america you'll be fine.
i'd avoid tours personally - just get to the sites early and beat the crowds. happy to answer specifics but suffice to say i hear lots of people saying its shit, but i had a great time. make of that what you will...
As well as antiquities the scuba in the Red Sea is good. The harassment for vendors and safety issues for women make it a shitty place to visit which is a real shame
>As well as antiquities the scuba in the Red Sea is good.
true, but i preffered it from Jordan tbh, less russians to argue with 🙂 > The harassment for vendors and safety issues for women make it a shitty place to visit which is a real shame
maybe, as i mentioned i went with my gf and we didnt think it was bad, certainly no where near india levels where i literally couldnt leave her for 10seconds without her being surrounded.
Why do you like? Tour guides are not because you can't get up early they are there to protect you. I really hate when people lie like this, probably Egyptian gov.
>Why do you like?
why do i like what? > Tour guides are not because you can't get up early they are there to protect you.
protect you from what? are you being deliberately obtuse cos your brother ahmed is a tour guide? Look, if people wanna go with 40 other people, be rushed from site to site and then made to visit a number of "local" traders who are related to the tour guide and want to sell you a shit rug made in china...good luck to them. I'd rather go early, take my time at the site and not have to pretend to be amazed because someones retarded cousin did pottery class at nursery.
> I really hate when people lie like this, probably Egyptian gov.
sure thing dude. hope your tour business is doing well.

i went wtih my gf so cant say first hand but from what i did see:
1:the girls arent that attractive
2:you dont really see them out alone except in cairo
3: i guess if you get caught with one, it might not end well
im sure you can meet/fuck women there but there's undoubtedly easier places to do it.
I'm kind of kicking the can down the road on Egypt. The pestering I experienced in Israel and Kuwait from vendors was just obnoxious and I've heard it's just more of the same here.
In Cairo you're a walking ATM. Not as much as in Morocco, but it's still pretty blatant, especially at the pyramids.
Alexandria's not too bad in that regard, though.
Cairo and especially the pyramids are intolerable for harassment. The more you get away from the tourist areas the better. Luxor was ok, but there the tourist archaeological sites also had the same awful level of harassment.

fwiw vendows in israel were worsr than egypt. egypt certainly isnt as bad as morrocco and india etc
Egypt is the worst I've been to in that aspect, worse than Israel and Morocco.
