Eurail trip from March-July

Planning out a eurail trip next year starting in Berlin ending in Georgia. Pinpoints are only rough estimates of where I will go. Any recommendations? Will be my first trip not with family.

How many days will your trip take?
It's very easy to add yet another destination on the map while planning but you end up rushing for place to place when actually on the ground.

Since you're doing Interrail/Eurail, you will not like the Baltics, as it's cheaper and more convenient to use their bus networks there.
For that reason you might want to push those three countries for another trip later.

Similar reasoning for Turkey and the Caucasus.
You can use IR/ER for your trips within Turkey, but the train tickets are cheap enough to do them without the railpass, so no need to rush there either.

not sure yet, only got a one way flight. I'm spending a few days in Athens before flying to Berlin as it was cheapest to fly to Athens first. The Berlin-Bulgaria part of the trip I plan to be 3 months. But yea i'm planning on having the eurail pass expire around the time I enter Turkey and will just buy tickets from there. Thx for the advice about Baltics

I did 2 months on eurail pass, a long time ago. Looking back, my favorite times were on the trains. Arriving anywhere was like 'here we go again, gotta find the hostel etc.' I kinda would have liked to stay on the trains longer. You meet a lot of people, drink wine whatever. The overnights were the best cuz you also saved on room cost.

I know I've made an itinerary that looks just like this in the past. You're probably 18-20 years old, about to go on your first big tour. But because you are still young, your time horizons are still short. And you feel like if you don't go there now, it will be an age before the next opportunity arises.

I would recommend halving the number of destinations, honestly. If you feel like you want to stick to 'Berlin to Georgia' then just go through Germany, Czechia, Austria, Hungary etc., directly through to Turkey and the Caucasus. Try to spend at least 3 days per location.

hit the nail on the head haha. Gonna condense it down a bit yea. I have cut out France and some of those points are just one or two day stop overs when getting between the places I really wanna go. With the number of places I have there's an average of 4 days per location and that will be cut down a bit more.

It's also much easier train-wise: Budapest-Bucharest has much better connections.

That looks pretty solid, you're planning to use a lot of overnight trains?
You can save on accommodation that way but you will miss some of the scenic views that way.

Keep only Amsterdam in the Netherlands.
Assuming you only do cities, prioritize Strasbourg over Freiburg. Both are nice but Strasbourg is by far the better choice. Disregard my advice if you plan to spend enough time to check out the black forest instead of just Freiburg.
I don't understand what your goal in Switzerland is. Bern? Swiss cities are not worth the time except -maybe- for Geneva. Go there for the mountains or do not go.
Is your Western point in Italy Cinque Terre? If so good choice. If it's meant to be Genoa it's not worth it. I would also take Cinque Terre over Pisa but that's not as clear cut.
In Turkey, Ankara is not worth it. I would also take Izmir over Çanakkale on the Western Anatolian coast.

Rest are either obviously good choices (Milan/Firenze/Venice/Klagenfurt/Vienna/Prague/Krakow/Budapest/Istanbul) or i don't know enough about those. I'd just be careful to reach Venice as early as possible in the year. It will be crowded anyway but the March crowd is way more bearable than the July one.

Lauterbrunnen is a good call. On your way to Milan stop by Lake Lugano in Switzerland. Take the trolley to the top of Mt. Bre and take the boat taxi ($20) from Lugano to Porlezza, Italy and back. This can all be done in one day honestly.
