Finally in Japan, ahhh

After 3 ducking years, im finally in Japan. Osaka to be exact but I'm off to Kobe and Kyoto in 2 days.

Walking around Dotonbori at 4AM was surreal, it's still alive and many shops are still open. I see so many girls dressed in short skirts after a night out and they're like these tempting things that I can never speak to or touch.

I know there's a Japan general here, but just really happy to finally be in Japan after so many years of no travel. Hope you Anons out there can travel soon to!

I love japan but I don't know if I ever want to go back. Just the word 'japan' brings to mind so much heavy cringe from my past. I wish I could forget so many things.

Glad you're having fun though bro get some matcha ice cream and a some gyuudon at sukiya for me.

Let the cringe out by telling us all of it

I can't say everything but that's okay because there's more that I can even keep track of. Specific scenes, people's faces, moments in time come back to haunt me constantly. There was the time I walked around Tokyo for 3 hours around 1am like an autistic creep and made eye contact with a ramen shop owner for the third time as I passed his shop, and he gave me the strangest look. There's the time I went on a strange "date" thing with a semi ugly japanese girl I met at a language meetup and acted like a spergy weirdo with my shitty japanese. There was the time some middle school kids made fun of me for playing weeb games at the arcade in japanese (I understood them unfortunately). There was the time some cool japanese guys invited me and my buddy to their karaoke room and I asked them about "nanpa" (picking up girls) in my shitty japanese and scared them away. Maybe none of these on their own sound that bad but they add up. I dressed like a moron, acted like an autist, and I did like anime (although I never spoke about it), and my anime-esque japanese was likely quite apparent to natives even if I didn't notice. Some coworkers told me a few years later that a work I was using was something they only heard in anime.

Honestly I don't know how I even live with myself. Thanks for reminding me I need to finish this beer and pour me some liquor. The worst part is I feel like I get more autistic and disconnected from reality each year. It's not getting any better, but at least I have little respect for my fellow am*ericans so the cringe isn't as bad.

Okay so I read your post.
          You're thinking/worrying too much.
On the one hand your overanalysis of yourself is what causes some of those issues (you sacrifice self- and situational awareness for your self-analysis). Just go out and do stupid shit and hae fun.
On the other hand your overanalysis is blowing your past mistakes out of proportion. I've done things more autistic than you, and in my native country, without the language/cultural barrier excuse. And now looking back I realize how little it matter.

So what if some kids laugh at you? Who gives a frick. There's white weebs wearing cirno cosplays walking down the road every day. You're fine bro just do whatever you want.

Shit, i'm too bold and flirtatious. If I see a cute girl or something cool that I like, I'll tell them. Being bold and open like that is something Japanese women like and want. It's why they flock towards foreigners a lot more than their own.

          >and my anime-esque Japanese was likely quite apparent

Japanese are used to seeing Asians, they are not special. Maybe you don't realize it but while whites and blacks draw attention they also fascinate and intrigue them. You have a better chance getting a Japanese wife than a Brazilian with Japanese grandparents born and raised in Brazil with similar Japanese skills as you. You both are foreigners but he is a foreigner with an appearance that is common in Japan. In a vacuum on looks alone there is no reason for a Japanese to want someone who looks exactly like them but doesn't share the culture and language. Much better taking another born and raised Japanese person. Whites and blacks brings something different on the table so the ones not too afraid of speaking English would be more open about knowing them. Of course after that it is on the individuals to match and make things work. tl;dr Japanese people into foreigners will look for non-Asian foreigners, Japanese people not into foreigners will look for other Japanese people. Asian foreigners are in the place where they don't get the advantages of being different but also not the advantages of being a local unless they put a lot of effort in knowing Japanese language and customs like a local or actually grew up there. Also most other Asians do look different from Japanese so they are more on the "poor immigrant" category like Mexicans in USA I guess than "cool foreigner".

I'm going to Japan in a month and staying there for 90days max (no visa trip).
I looked up to buy a prepaid sim card to get internet there but the ones sold at the airport are absolute scams, but the ones on amazon.jp have a delivery that costs as much as the card itself.
I'm guessing he best would be to arrive there and then buy the card there but how do you find a store that sells it without internet ?

In my case my buddy had a pixel and used Google FI international data to get the train routes to our lodging then I bought my sim from a local big camera.

My Japanese was decent enough to fool the employee into thinking that I was a resident and tried to sell me a regular SIM instead of a temporary travel SIM card which requires an address and other info, so make sure you clarify first.

This, at least it’s easy to be middle class.

Born into abject poverty with moron parents. I also just hate it here. You must not live here or have had it easy from birth because it's a complete shithole with little real avenues to move up.

Could have studied a tiny bit, read some books, done decent on test scores, and gone to literally any school for free if your family is actually in poverty. The amount of handouts the states give to children of poor people is insane. You genuinely must not have tried at all, I know multiple friends that got full ride Pell grant scholarships without even doing well on the act/sat because they had poor single mothers. I unironically went into more debt than them despite having better test scores. I actually hate losers like you that can’t own up to their own shitty decisions and lack of effort. The US is still without a doubt one of the best countries if not the best for upward class/financial mobility. But sure keep blaming your parents, as if no one else is ever born to garbage parents and still makes it out of sheer power of will.

Go teach and English and marry the first women that hits on you. Then you’re in the country for good

The only true white privilege that exists is that one you get when you go to an Asian Westernized country. Japan is best candidate then the Philippines.

thanks guys, this will be my emergency plan if everything in my life goes to shit and I have barely savings left
(first though I will inspect the country on my holidays and weigh in the work culture, perhaps it would be wiser to not give a damn about that)

Can someone explain to me the allure of Teamlabs planets/borderless?

It just looks like some instagram homosexual spot. Am I wrong?
