Recently i did my first trip on a flixbus. I was wondering if you could just stay on the bus past the destination you have payed for? I know you can get off earlier and they do not care, as they only check your ticket once when you get on.
So what happens if you buy a ticket for a short distance but get off at the last station? That way you'd only pay a fraction of the price.
Will they find out by your phones gps location/ when you disconnect from the bus wifi?
Also general flixbus thread, booking tips, where to find promo codes and whatever helpful things you can share
Just pay the entire ticket you thief.
I am not a thief, and thought crimes are not a thing. I was literally just curious, because it seems like a bad system.
Yes and no, it's an affordable way to travel europe. Since it's affordable, it also attracts poors and quite a lot of gypsies. But in general it's pretty mixed, you got the middle aged businessman going to the airport aswell as young people on an adventure
Is it for poor people? How many ethnic people travel on these?
someone else will have a spot booked for your seat, flixbusses are usually packed
I can see that happen. That would explain why someone was standing. They guarantee you a seat, so they could not have overbooked the bus.
But some busses are only like 50% full, especially on weekdays/ odd times
I never used Flixbus. Just pretend you are asleep and then when someone wakes up you at the bus stop, this is my seat ser. Sit to a diff seat, if the bus is full, ... leave sadly.
i took a flixbus from seattle to portland once, and at the dropoff point in portland there were two homeless people, a man and a woman, having sexual intercourse.
The dropoff points are always super sketchy.
A second after i came out of the bus after a 13 hours ride a hobo started bothering me for money, almost had to fight him
to be fair it's hard to find a street in portland free of such sights
you ever seen the portland greyhound station?
I have never heard of flixbus until I saw this thread this morning, and then I went on the highway to another city, I saw a flixbus for the first time. Spooky
>what is confirmation bias
come back when you are 18
>come back when you are 18
come back when you are 19
It's been a thing in europe for years but now they seem to be expending to other continents.
Honestly it's pretty good for what you pay for. They are on time, you have onboard wifi (it's slow) and they even provide some recent movies/audio books. Most of the time you can pick any free seat, but on small busses that are booked out they will assign you one but even then as long as seats are free no one cares. Sometimes people will tell you "excuse me, that is my seat" even when half of the seats are empty which is fricking annoying tho if you already got comfy.
a Ryanair or wizair costs the same as a shitty flixbus as long as you plan your trip in advance
I did a 14 hour trip on the bus for 25EUR, cheapest flight would have been over three times as much even 2 months in advance.
So the only real risk seems to be that if at one stop the bus gets to 100% capacity you will not have a seat anymore and stick out like a sore thumb. But even then, you could still say you overslept.
>14 hour trip on the bus
Grimola, anything over 8 hours on a bus is rough
You can theoretically get away with it. I've got on without paying once (without knowing, a friend only bought one instead of two), and no one checked us. Granted it was in Spring and the bus wasn't full
After boarding, no one has asked for my ticket, so probably
>Tips
If you want to save money and can sleep in a bus, get overnight seats, it's not the best option if you're going to move a lot the next day, but you're going to save somewhere between 25-80 euros depending on the city you're going

I've asked myself the same question, those drivers just check people who come in but don't give a frick about everything else. I once went to the bathroom to take a piss before exiting the bus on the last stop and the c**t just drove without checking the toilet or if someone fell asleep on the second floor.
