You can travel to Russia from Georgia by land, the easiest option is to travel by car or bus through a tunnel that goes from Georgian side of Kazbegi to Russian ossetia, from there you reach Vladikavkaz and travel to Grozny.
I'm Georgian, if you have other questions I can answer.

      Thanks brahs.

Russia just opened their land border last week. It was a covid restriction.

How long does it take to ride the bus from tiblisi to vladikavkaz? Do you need to do any COVID shenanigans to cross the border (like show proof of a negative test)?

Is there also a bus from Tiblisi to Sochi?

And what are the customs procedures like when you take the bus from Georgia to Russia?

Not the guy you asked, but same principle applies: get to Vladikavkaz, find onward transport to Sochi from there.

Customs I imagine are similar to other Russian borders. Have friends who crossed that border, they said it was as expected. Get your visa in order and you should be fine. You can't cross on foot, and many buses will not drive across it, you may have to take a bus to the border, get stamped out of Georgia, hitch a ride to the Russian border, get stamped in, get some Russian moneys, then get on the bus to Vladikavkaz. Bit of a hassle but not hard.

should i come to georgia if i just want to hike and see the mountains ? are there many trees in mountainous regions?

Georgia's an excellent place for hiking. Lots of trees in Svaneti and Lagodekhi, fewer around Kazbegi, Tusheti and elsewhere in the Greater Caucasus. Lesser Caucasus is more forested on account of being lower but you'll have no snow-capped mountains except the distant views of the Greater Caucasus.
