Germany this winter

Is it a bad idea to go to Germany this November/ December? Work wants to send me, but I don’t want to freeze to death.

I'm going for the back half of December. I've never been during winter and I'm ready to be frozen solid.

The coldest part of the year comes in February. November and December aren't bad.

Should add I'm going to Europe from November to February.
I'm from Australia so I haven't experienced a winters day worse than 10*C. You just gotta have some cajones.

You should be good through the end of the year but by February they'll be crying and begging Putin for some heat.

Seriously though it's not the cold that'll get you, it's the darkness. Anywhere north of the Alps will have short, overcast days, freezing rain, and you might not see the sun for a week.

    >Go to Germany to experience a white Christmas in 2019
    >Its the warmest Winter they've had yet
    >No snow, but still cold
    >Had to go up a mountain to experience snow on Christmas
With the way global warming going; you should be fine.

What about the energy crisis? Will life be mostly normal, or will it be like WWII air raid blackouts?

      Things will be normal.

      As

      Things will be normal.

said, most things will be more or less normal, but be prepared for a lot of toned down events, for example no city-wide Christmas illuminations or non-essential lights turning off after dinnertime.

Shopping windows aren't illuminated past its opening hours, so are major buildings/anything of interest.
And I feel like a lot of stores/restaurants went bankrupt at a faster rate than pre-war and cities seem more empty, probably going to become even worse in the upcoming months.

Is this what you read on /misc/?

No, it's common knowledge found in German news media, both state-funded and private.

            Thought so.

European here, all this is valid.

To offset the energy costs we will tone down on the useless lights. Not a biggie.

Maybe when Russial will become less moronic (highly unlikely) things will go back to "normal".
