I'm a armyfag from the u.s who's getting out on ets leave essentially I will have a few weeks of paid vacation while I get out
will be going to uni in August and will be using the vacation from June-July time frame,
what do greek anons here recommend doing? i was thinking of backpacking from the Pelopenesse to Thessalonika and making a few stops along the way with my brother
also how safe would you say it is for a solo traveler if it ends up he wont be able to come?
Fuck Greece. Go to 3 beaches in Alabama and call it a day.
Greece has been a shithole since people starting travelling there for the sake of "muh temples and theaters that look just like every single church and bank in the rest of the Western world". If you wanna go to a gyros shop, you can find one in Downtown Birmingham, Alabama. If you wanna hear some stories about the old Greek gods, open up your copy of Ovid's Metamorphoses and start reading a few verses out loud.
t. has been to Gayreece, specifically to Athens and Corinth
PS Istanbul will never be taken back by the Gayreeks.

Visited Greece while stationed in Germany. My commander gave me and the LT a 4-day to run the Athens Marathon. LT booked through a travel agency or something it his trip got messed up. Ended up just going alone thank God. Good times but rough course. I had 52 days of ETS leave at the end of my time and did a backpacking trip too OP
i thought about running the route to say i've done it but i know my brother and he can't run 5 miles let alone 22 and i want to avoid doing shit that'll leave dude excluded
what back packing route did you do?
The route is basically all along the highway so it's not really possible outside of them shutting down all the roads. It's nice for the novelty but only the beginning and end are really interesting sights.
My backpacking route probably seems weird in a vacuum but it was really just hitting up some sights I was interested in before leaving. I think I went
>Berlin
>Hamburg
>Amsterdam (bunch of surrounding areas
>Brussels
>Bruges
>Paris(Montmartre, Mont St. Michael, Omaha beach)
>Milan
>Venice
>Florence (Siena, Pisa)
>Naples(Pompeii)
>Sorento
>Rome
I'm probably missing a bunch of smaller towns but it was mostly on rail. Good time
I should clarify this was only like 3 weeks not the full 52 days
I also return to Germany later as a contractor and had another situation where I had like 3 weeks of leave. That one was.
>Zurich
>Lucerne
>Interlaken(Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald,spiez)
>Bern
>Colmar(kaiserberg)
>Zurich(Konstanz, rapperswill, Lichtenstein)
At this point I started going based off of cheap flights to places I was interested in
>Malta, (Valletta)
>Cyprus (Paphos)
>Latvia (Riga)
>Oslo
>Stockholm
>Copenhagen
>London(Oxford, Canterbury,Dover)
Feel like I'm missing a country but these were the broad strokes. Lasted probably a month. Met up with family members for like 2 weeks during it
>Tessalônica
>Peloponesse
Not going to Meteora
I was in Greece for 2 weeks in September here's some info I can think of:
>KTEL bus network is actually pretty good
>Athens is a fairly boring city, but totally worth it for all those historical sites
>Crete was really good, very underrated place
>Santorini on the other hand... Looks nice for 15 minutes then it's just overpriced tourist shit
>Meteora is pretty great and worth going to
>A lot of the famous sites are not viable for people who aren't renting a car, don't hype yourself up about seeing some obscure historical ruins and then realising you can't get there by bus and there aren't hotels nearby.
Any of the islands worth it?
Another vote for Meteora. And bring some extra money, they sell some gorgeous orthodox icons.
Why do zogs think they're welcome here?

some general advice
1) befriend some locals, ask them where to eat, only eat in those places (the touristy places suck)
especially applies when you want to eat souvlaki
2) avoid famous islands. yes, they're extremely beautiful, but they're expensive as fuck
3) related to 2), stick to the mainland. and, related to 1), ask the locals about good beaches nearby
4) rent a car. there is a bus network and a rail network which you can totally use for long trips inside the country. but when you get where you're staying, rent a small car to get around easily.
5) safety-wise, nothing to worry about except in immigrant neighborhoods. and even in those, its much safer than the ghettos in american cities. also you'll be pleasantly surprised at the almost complete absence of huge homeless camps/open drug markets.
6) drinks in bars/clubs are kinda iffy. also, expensive. if possible, pre-drink.
7) athens sucks ass, except for the museums and historical stuff. if you're not into that shit, go elsewhere. athenian nightlife is good, but not worth dealing with a 4+mil pop city with horrible traffic and heat.
pick some smaller cities, preferably close to the sea (pretty low bar in greece, admittedly). preferably also with a university (again, pretty low bar)

How's the cooming in Greece? Does Tinder work well?
>How's the cooming in Greece?
easiest pickings is drunk tourist chicks
especially brits, doesn't get easier than that
greek girls are moderately difficult, i'd say. less bitchy than american girls back home, probably, pretty average for EU girls
you'll probably get some bonus points for being foreign (only applies to westEU and americans, obviously), but nothing absurd, nothing like you read in the phillipines or africa coomthreads
>Does Tinder work well?
as well as the rest of the western world
if you're chad, you'll be able to order pussy delivery
if not...
Athens has mediocre brothels
Anyone been to Macedonia? Kinda been interested in planning a trip to go hiking up to Athos and maybe go to some wineries.
Gonna be in Crete for 2 weeks in May then spending a week on the rest of the islands; what should I check out? Will be starting in Chania and renting a car but plan to stay all over the island.
Give it to me straight, bros. How lame is Santorini.
>muh sunset
>muh cliffs
>muh greek town stock image
It's relatively lame, also there were Chinese tourists that were annoying but I went before covid. I fear putting out names lest they are ruined as well, but threre are other cycladic islands that are much more enjoyable and soulful. But it depends on whether you like tourist-oriented stuff, Santorini was still nice.
I really hope u die, you fucking mutts should not be allowed into europe. Just stay in alabama or whatever shithole your from and fuck your fat sister till a troglodyte baby pops out of her loose vagina. Then you can have a nice day and your morbidly obese room temperature IQ family.
You need to be 18 to post here kiddo

Haha funny because you guys are always mixed. I have not seen an american who doesnt look like hes made out of the worst leftover genes from africa and europe.
And its not even the looks, you dont know shit. Typical yankee only knows about baseball and where mexico is, they usually think that europe is a country.
My white ancestors are smiling at me, can you say the same, mutt?
>Brown incel rambling with reddit spacing
I don't know what you are talking about. Everybody is disgusted by your Mcdonalds culture and ogre-like looks. Btw how much do you weight?
>Brown incel rambling
>implying you aren't non-white
Gott strafe Amerika
>ramblings of brown incel
Is this really the best you mutts can do? My whole country is 95% white, what about yours?
I’ve been to more than 40 countries, I’ve never been to a city more eclectic, alive and exciting than Athens.
It’s a city worth spending a month in.
