Has any of you ever been denied entry to a country on arrival over a relatively minor reason (not having a return ticket, not showing proof of funds, etc). Are there any serious long term consequences? Will your passport get flagged every time you visit that same country or any other?
>Has any of you ever been denied entry to a country on arrival over a relatively minor reason
Yes, the UK denied me airside transit despite me being fully qualified for it.
>Are there any serious long term consequences?
I fully avoid their floating garbage patch and airlines.
What was the reason you were given?
I was visiting the USA years ago to stay with a friend for a few weeks. For some reason the border guard at the airport became super arsey with me for no reason, just being utterly belligerent and rude. Apparently I hadn't provided proof of where I was staying (even though I had a signed affidavit from by friend informing them of my stay). Luckily I had the presence of mind to stay totally zen and calm, when they took me aside to be questioned in one of their exclusion booths by two immigration officers they immediately looked at each other and sighed when they found out which agent sent me over. I think he was just a cunt who was trying to fuck with me. After about 2 hours of paperwork they let me through. Haven't returned to the US since. If they can let hundreds of thousands of murdering Hispanics across the southern border every year, then why do they have to make such a fuss when someone from another 1st world european country tries to enter legally? Idiots.
Same. I flew from London to Sydney, passing through LAX. For some reason the airline (American Airlines - shit dont use) couldn't print my La to Sydney pass and the lady was like; well you have to get your bags and re check in anyway so it doesnt matter - off you go. Cut to immigration and the guy just gave me absolute hell. He kept playing games like telling me to repeat myself, saying things like 'I sorry I cant hear you, say that again' - trying to get me to trip myself up as he could hear me as once I did repeat myself and he was like 'but you said X (basically the same but a different word) before' etc. Said are you trying to get in here illegally why dont you have an onward boarding pass etc. Weirdly was suHispanicious over the fact I had been backpacking for 3 months at that point - as though thats weird and unusual?!? Anyway had to go back and try to find wifi in order to get a email loaded on my phone saying I had booked a ticket. Do it all again; and I mean all again - was fast tracked into the same line and he tried to trip me up again like fucking hell. All this despite the fact I wasn't even going into the country; merely passing through - and he would have known that due to e-visa that he was looking at one his screen.
I have since vowed to never fly through America again. Im not even a noob traveller, have been all around the world but this was the worst experience. Bribing immigration in Cambodia was less fucking stressful. And the fact it was an American Airline that caused this issue only further enrages me - they should know.
Yup, even as an American I absolutely hate flying back to the US to visit friends/family.
The US is notorious for shit like this. White people from first world countries get treated like drug addict rapists from the third world.
I fucking that shit hole.
We just bleed money for even a single immigrant. Imagine they want a 100k masters degree on government loans.

what race was the border guard?
Not him but I'm betting Asian. Filipinos and other asians are the worst, usually have a stick up their ass about doing things by the book, are suHispanicious and resentful of other races.
I deliberately always go for the black officers. They're unfireable federal workers and know it. They're far too lazy to give a shit or do any more than they have to. You think Shaniqua is gonna ask follow up questions, write up a report and get her supervisor involved? Of course not, that would be acting like a professional on the job.

fair but it's a gamble. that lazyness means they're slow at examining/processing, and on the off-chance a problem does occur then they go from retard slow to "wait half an hour in line and pray they open up another lane" slow.
>1st world European country
So Pakis, Sudanese and Somalis?
Silly you, laws only apply to white people!
Somalis are welcomed with open arms in the US, if you're related you can even marry into the capitol.
>Will your passport get flagged every time you visit that same country
yes
>or any other?
no
This doesn't technically count I guess, but when I and two of my lads visited North Macedonia a couple of ago we were almost denied entry for not having documents from our parents confirming that they allowed us to go.
>It may also have been because we due to our poor knowledge or the Cyrillic alphabet got in the non-EU queue despite being Swedish citizens, but eh
We were all underage back then, so I guess it makes sense, but I hadn't read anything about that requirement before going so at the time we just thought that the border guards had made it up to fuck with us.
The guards eventually calmed down when I called my dad over WhatsApp (because calling without a proper SIM-card would have ruined me) and showed them our return tickets.
>EU queue
why does Macedonia have an EU queue at the border?
They're trying to join and shit, but I don't really know. Probably some visa-exemption thing
Does the border police have access to all of your travel history when they scan your passport? Would you say that it is a decisive factor when they see that someone has traveled to a lot of countries and has never been denied entry or overstayed his/her visa? It certainly wouldn't hurt, but is it really super important?
All your travel history, no. They'll know you went somewhere if you have a stamp from that country though, assuming they care to look.
Can confirm what other people are saying in this thread about the USA.
I'm from the Netherlands, have an American girlfriend. Went through immigration that was the rudest and most hostile I've ever experienced, and I've been to plenty of third world dictatorships.
They call every little detail Sus, they questioned me on staying for two months, something they never made an issue for my girlfriend when she visited the EU.
They called my lack of clothes sus (backpack + carry on), then questioned me on my money and if I think 10 000 dollars is enough for two months. They then scolded me for not having gifts for my girlfriends family (despite just having said I had brought local candies and chocolate) and after two hours of basically being treated like I'm a Congolese rapist trying to enter the king's palace, they let me go. They also read through all my phone messages. Something that has never happened to me even in the biggest shitholes paranoid about spies.
Then you land in LA and the entire state is illegal beaners with shootings every other day.
I hate America so much it's unreal.
I think your mistake was saying you were visiting a girlfriend, that surely sets up some kind of special protocol.
It is. That is case that frequently leads to visa overstay. Even if you get married you're supposed to go back and wait for your green card in your country instead of waiting for it in the US.
sorry
t. leaf
Never had a problem, but once in America the Border guard was a chinaman with an accent so thick I couldn't understand him.
>Fly into the US
>have some story about visiting a gf or friend
>it's always euro's
Holy shit I hate being behind you gays in line, it's why I got GE to avoid you all. Somehow you are worse than asians flying in at border patrol
It's another episode of
>euro has no proof of stay other than 'maybe a hostel or friends place'
>not exactly sure how they will get around to in the country and say stupid shit like hitchhike or take a bus to go visit Vegas or DC from some place like LA thinking it's a 4hr trip
>has no basic itinerary and explains they 'just want to see some sites'
>no hard proof of return flight in a country riddled with illegal immigrants
>shows up dressed in a near begpacker look or stoner punk rock all dark clothing look
>overstate what they plan to do rather than just answer the question straight forward and directly
>euro can't look TSA/CBP in the eyes when talking
>shows up with just a single backpack for a 2 month journey
I will never understand why people won't book at least 1 hotel for a night or two on landing(then go stay with a friend), have a very basic itinerary to show border security, and have a set date for onward travel for visiting any country. It seriously boggles my mind and in my 6 years of international travel I've never understood this. How do you manage to pay probably a few hundred dollars and time spent traveling internationally and then go "uhhh idk lol" to any questions when you get there. No shit some people would be skeptical.
Border control officers are illiterate losers who like to flex every bit of authority they don't have in real life. Thousands of morons and Hispanics cross the borders each day by foot or in ships, no one bats and eye. These people see white tourists who obviously have no intention of overstaying and they go berserk.
For some of the absolute retarded people I've seen travel I can't blame border security being a bit short with people. I'll agree they do powerflex but holy fuck are people stupid when it comes to traveling. Like euro's specifically have an uncanny ability to make up the most fake sounding story for genuinely visiting on the planet.
US immigration officers are often also some of the least worldly people in the country. These are people who never leave the country, despite often being from immigrant backgrounds and who believe the propaganda that everywhere else besides the US is a much worse thirdworld shithole. They literally cannot understand why you wouldn't want to stay and if you're American why you wouldn't go to Las Vegas instead of europe. This is especially the case when you're flying into a backwards shithole like Atlanta.
To be honest I think people with disposable income and savings should be allowed to travel anywhere without any hassle. I'm not rich, but I have a lot of money saved up plus some passive income each month. Showing a bank statement should be proof enough that I don't intent to work or to be a burden for the public system. I hate having to give personal information to total strangers, such as where am I going, for how long, with whom, etc.
Oh fuck off gay just be glad I am improving your rapidly degrading genepool.
I had proof and knew the address off by heart, explained exactly how I earn my money and why I can take extended holidays, none of that is the issue. I've been questioned by the intelligence service in numerous third world countries and they're still less fucking annoying than US immigration.
>uhhhh why don't they just book a hotel to appease some high school graduate at the airport???
You won't even get on your plane without a return ticket, for having travelled for 6 years you act like someone that's only read about it online.
I hope you die of a heart attack this year btw. Manifesting cursed energy on your soul/karma or whatever through this reply. Good luck.
Imagine being a simp for poorly educated, borderline retarded border agents.
Not denied entry but had my balls broken trying to get into the US.
> eurofag graduate student going to present at a conference
> explain to the large lady at the border I am here for a conference
> ushered into a small room for questioning
> wait like hours
> two massive dudes with guns and shit turn up and start asking me questions
> after showing them hotel bookings and stuff they start quizzing me on theoretical fluid dynamics (guess what I studied)
> they’re satisfied with my explanation of Kelvin-Helmholtz instability and the Bernoulli principle
> they let me in
Surreal. It’s happened to other people I know. Why are US border guards like this
>Why are US border guards like this
because everybody wants to get into the USA and then stay there for gibs or crime
You couldn't pay me enough to live in that ZOG shithole.
Including their own fucking citizens. Worst entry I ever had was trying to get back into the US, my home fucking country. Dug through all my shit and the fag even had audacity to try and small talk with me while he was doing it. Total meme country.
When did this happen anon?
>Why are US border guards like this
Because breaking your balls to gauge your reaction is the easiest way of weeding out problem visitors. Those with something to hide/not telling the truth tend to get defensive pretty quickly. Being a dick and asking stupid questions is a good heuristic to see who needs to be examined further.
I flew back into Thailand on a plane instead of doing a visa run. The immigration agent saw my multiple entry stamps, and then sent me to talk to their manager.
I saw that it was a mean old lady and knew I was fucked, since old women absolutely hate men in their late 20's / 30's. She accused me of working in thailand and denied my entry. I tried to reason with her that I was following their own laws on visa stamps, but she said it was up to her, not me, and then followed it up with a 2 year long blacklist on entry because I was 'aggressive' with her.
I didn't even bother offering a bribe. I just walked out and bought a ticket to singapore. I was indeed blacklisted from entry, because I tried to get a visa a month after that and they kicked it back to me and gave me a date when it would be cleared.
Weird thread. I've had the exact opposite experience entering the US.
>any weapons?
>no that was last week
>haha ok have a good time
then coming back to Canada its like an interrogation
>where were YOU?!
>US
>YEA OBVIOUSLY BUT WHERE!?
>This cunt in a turban has the audacity to question me entering my own country
I didn't know you were interrogated when arriving back to your country. Where I'm from, they only ask me which flight did I come from and then just stamp my passport.
French citizen here. Almost denied entry to South Africa because no return ticket. I was going on a Cape Town to Cairo trip and they didn't want to let me through unless I had a flight ticket leaving SA. Which I didn't want to get because I wanted to leave by road to Namibia. It worked out in the end after 2 hours. Stressful start to the journey. I really thought that after covid they would be hungry for tourists.
>Has any of you ever been denied entry to a country on arrival over a relatively minor reason
Yes. I tried entering Tunisia by ferry from Italy last year. They refused to let me enter the country because I didn't have a "hotel voucher". My booking confirmation wasn't good enough for the border guards. They held me at the harbour for three hours or so and then send me back to Italy with the next ship along with another couple of foreigners who also lacked a hotel voucher.
>Are there any serious long term consequences?
Nope. I tried again a couple of months later with a proper hotel voucher and got in.
Border formalities were still tedious though. I had to run errands between office buildings at the harbor and talk to different people in charge who all inspected my fucking hotel voucher. No English spoken, had to get by with French. A very hostile vibe overall.
Turns out Tunisia is kind of a shithole that wasn't really worth the effort but it's all about the experience I guess.
I had no issues entering by air last year. Nobody asked me any hotel vouchers, thankfully, as I only had a booking confirmation.
Yeah, the issue is specific to arrivals by sea.
The fuck's a hotel voucher
A proof that you have a pre-paid accommodation, i.e. you won't sleep on the street and the local economy has already extracted some money from you.
No, I'm white.
when i was 12 years old i told the border security at heathrow that i would bomb the country as a joke. Surprised my family and I weren't detained
