Has anyone done a pan-american motorcycle/car trip? I've been to many states on a motorcycle but I want to step it up a notch.
Is 10k a reasonable amount to complete this journey?

10k sounds doable if you already have the bike.
It will mostly depends on how fast you go (if you're just going from point a to point b driving everyday or if you stop a lot along the way and spend time doing stuff). I'd feel very comfy with 20k.
I did a cost per km analysis on a motorcycle trip a long time ago and found something like 25k$ for 25k km but I forget if that includes owning the bike, I was going to do it on a cheapish bike like a klr. Incidentals are the big cost, gear, bike, camping stuff... also gas is double now what it was when I last looked at it.
>25k$ for 25k km
That's one way to say "$1 per km" I guess.
not really because its a nonlinear relationship that only crosses at 25k. Hence my comment about incidentals.
looks fun but youll likely get monkeypox
Clayton Schwartz did this. beware of donkeys.

Nice to see someone who is honest with themselves. Personally I would kill myself though.
Also, going 60mph on any road on a motorcycle in Mexico is definitely not a good idea, but we all learn from our mistakes, it's just unfortunate when those mistakes don't forgive. I can say without a doubt that it is only by shear luck that I am not in his situation today.
Honestly it sounds like the dude was just very inexperienced. Same shit could have happened here with a deer or whatever.
Good luck crossing the Darian Gap.
i have faith in u OP.
Almost nobody tries to cross by foot. Legtitimately dangerous.

Two weeks on dodgy smuggler boats is what you call a closed gap?
I closed yer mum's gap last night.
Yeah, I talked to a guy doing it while I was working along the haul road in Alaska.
>Gap's Closed.
