Hostel novice

What is the hostel experience like? For the past few years I have been travelling alone and I usually stay in hotels but due to the cost I typically only do a week. I have been thinking about using hostels to greatly extend my travel time but I have some questions.

When I am in bed I like to jerk off and rip farts all night, I feel like this is fairly normal behaviour so how does this work in a room with 10 other people?

I am 30 and often hear this is too old for hostels but is there truth in this? On my last vacation I visited the hostel of some people I met in a bar and it was full of guys looking north of 40 who just wanted a cheap room.

I hear people on here saying they travelled in hostels and ending up fricking people they meet on the vacation, how is this even possible without your own room? I usually use tinder on my vacations and take them back to my room so I am weighing up having a longer vacation but no sex.

How does it work with your luggage, do you just leave it in the room and ensure not to have any valuables inside?

Sure, you'll never meet those people again.

    See above

    It never happened.

No one needs your socks. The only valuable things you should have are smartphone and maybe laptop, just carry them with yourself.

if this isn't a try hard troll thread...
    >When I am in bed I like to jerk off and rip farts all night
    Amazing...

    >I am 30 and often hear this is too old for hostels but is there truth in this?
For you seemingly acting like a man child with no concept of how to behave around people? Age isn't the issue here.

    > how is this even possible without your own room?
Bathrooms exist, many have 'family shower' rooms that get stolen, hostels have private rooms for generally cheaper than Hotels for the location. Generally I'd just book a hostel for a week at a place, when I want to go to pound town on some chick I'd pay 1 night for a hotel on an app boom done. Still come out ahead in terms of cash saved.

    >I usually use tinder on my vacations and take them back to my room so I am weighing up having a longer vacation but no sex.
Hostels are easy for socially mingling with others, why bother with tinder in a hostel unless you're severe uggo

    >How does it work with your luggage
Bring a lock, put it in the locker, boom done. Most will let you rent a locker for a buck or two. Unless you're staying in Jamal's Jail Inn Hostel, you're generally fine. Hostel world is really good on reviews as you have to stay there to review a hostel.

Don't bother with hostels if you are looking for anything other than to save cash OP, your lack of basic self awareness or how humans act around each other is baffling.

      >Amazing...
Don't act like this isn't normal, the jerking off I can go without but I have IBS so holding in farts is difficult and the only time I am ever sharing a bed with someone is with chicks who don't care

This sounds good, I have heard stories of people lying in bed in a hostel and a couple will start fricking in the same room which I think would be really annoying

      >Hostels are easy for socially mingling with others, why bother with tinder in a hostel unless you're severe uggo
Because I am usually able to set up dates before I even arrive

      >I mean yeah, sharing a bedroom with several strangers is an entirely new concept to me

Just use hostelworld to book, gives you a breakdown of who books there and good reviews of people who stayed there. Used it for all my euro travel during may/june, never had an issue at any hostels.

I snore like a mother fricker, especially on nights I drink. Will I get beaten up if I stay at a hostel?

Hostels absolutely suck if you're not in your 20s and getting drunk every night.

    > the noise
    > the lack of AC or control over it
    > the dirtiness
    > the crappy mattresses
    > the shared bathroom/toilet/kitchen/everything

Hostels are why you can't afford to be broke in your 30s.

This. The only time I will stay in a dorm room is if I plan on getting fricked up that night. That way I am the loud, annoying guy stumbling in at 4am and snoring until noon and no one else can bother me.

in europe they are either open minded bizarre germans or cringe hipsters without decent job or hostile loners from all over europe. going there with friends when you are young just for cheap accomodation seem to be the only correct move. and hosts are always looking for pussies

I've never seen a hostel like that in Europe.

Don't jerk off in front of people moron. Unless you have a curtain. People will think you're that smelly moronic who sharts himself to sleep every night.

    No one cares you're 30.

    >there will always be a snorer
    >occasional moron who'll flip the light on at 4am to check his shoes or something
    >some Asian dude digging though 500 plastic bags at 5am
    etc.

I have earbuds and I blast out all noise with very loud shoe gaze. Lights rarely go on so I don't have a sleeping mask but that could help too.

Hostels are cool as long as you're cool.

    >What is the hostel experience like?
Depends on the hostel. Some are chill and full of people minding their own business. Some are full of 20 year old aussie and brit gays whose sole purpose in traveling is drinking every single night all night.
    >jerk off and rip farts all night
If you have a curtain or a capsule bating can be pulled off. Sometimes the bunk beds will be really creaky though, so people will know what you're doing and think you're a megacreep. I bust farts non stop all night every time I stay in a dorm, who gives a frick. If anyone gives a frick they will soon forget by how much they hate the fricker snoring all night
    >I am 30
Nah, not too old. Depends on where you are traveling though. If you're in Southeast Asia or LatAm you'll probably be 6 or so years older than the average in the dorm because those destinations bring in young roasties and poor gay young guys.
    >Fricking in hostels
It's happened in a few dorm rooms. People think they're sneaky but of course you can't hide the squish. At this point when it happens I'll always do something to make it awkward because I know I am not the only one woken up by it. Last time it was when I was in Thailand in a sort of shitty capsule dorm and I started to hear it so I just exclaimed loudly "SMELLS LIKE TEEN SPIRIT IN HERE" then most of the room busted up laughing and I heard the girl go "OH MY GOD I NEED TO GO." I have banged a few girls in hostels, usually we are both hammered so I will take them into the communal bathroom and lock the door to smash them. You can still use Tinder on your trip, depending on where you are sometimes the girl will have their own apartment to take you to, or you could just get a last minute cheapish hotel on Booking for the sole purpose of banging them there. Kind of sucks to expect to have sex on your trip and strike out a few nights and be out the money on a hotel or Airbnb.
    >How does it work with your luggage
They usually have lockers for your shit.

Absolutely no point in staying in a hostal in those countries. Lets be real everyone going there is going for one thing only (case can be made for SEA). Hostals are nice in Europe where hotels can be a bit pricier and you can expect some quality. I barely trust hotels in SEA and hotels are nice to show off to the local women

    > I like to jerk off and rip farts all night
that is disgusting, and no people do not do that in shared rooms you unhygienic creep
    >30
you're pushing it, and judging by your other behaviours, you'll just ruin it for everyone
    > fricking
just frick when everyone leaves to go on a tour, or take out a solo/smaller room in the hostel
    >luggage
most hotels will have locks for big valuables but I couldn't care less, just took my wallet with me and didn't care about the rest

30 is not pushing it. Worked in hostels for 2 years, 30 is relatively young unless you're in a party hostel.
