How do I get over my fear of flying bros? No matter what, even the thought of flying gives me extreme anxiety.

How do I get over my fear of flying bros? No matter what, even the thought of flying gives me extreme anxiety.

Last time I tried to prove to myself I could do it, my plane hit a heavy storm and the lights/screens on the seats kept losing power and the speakers were making some fricked up noises. It was terrifying and only solidified my fears. I really just want to take a 2 hour flight somewhere but thinking about it makes me sick.

it would not be good for business if it wasnt safe
the pilot and staff wouldnt want to go if they weren't confident

Learn some basic probability and take a benzo.

Anon, even when walking outside the chances of something falling out of the sky or tripping over something and hitting your head are never zero. Dying in a plane crash is just as unlikely. You'll be fine.

I am aware of the statistics, but being that high up and feeling bumps terrifies me. The dips when approaching landing make my heart race and I can't breathe, gripping the seat handles so hard out of fear. It frickin sucks.

Booze. Drink on the way to airport, buy duty free and drink in the airport, get in the plane and go to sleep.

It's not about the height. It's about the feeling of control. If you were the one flying the plane you wouldn't even care.
What can you do to get a feeling of control in this situation? Beats me. Just letting you know.

You will just never be in control on a plane. You need to learn to trust the pilot and crew. Whenever I'm on a plane and hit turbulences I calm myself down by repeatedly telling myself that the pilot knows what he's doing, he doesn't want to die either after all.
With that being said I could never board a plane without my wife.

I chose not to mention that since the probability of it happening is even lower than a regular plane accident.

At least in a crash your loved ones will know what happened. But in some of these pilot suicide cases they nose dive into the ocean and the bodies or plane parts are never recovered. Happened with the oceanic flight that vanished they suspect . Over 100 people went missing

Well in any case it is pretty clear that the plane crashed with no survivors, recovered bodies or not.

Read/watch videos about plane crashes. I've seen so many that at this point I think I'd do great in one and if anything would love to experience one, I'd be one of the people who survives

modern aircraft is built with lots of redundancy. Realize if the plane loses power theres backup power to the main power, and even that backup fails there's probably tertiary backup. same goes with sensors, electronics, fuel, cabin pressure, even the pilot navigation has redundancy with the copilot. modern travel is extremely safe.

look up history with the number of aircraft that went down due to turbulence, heavy storm, etc. you probably find one back in the 80's or 90's.

When I fly to Asia I imagine the flight attendant being my wife and what kind of life we'd live together.

Whatever you do, make sure you don’t address the underlying issue that is manifesting itself as a fear of flying.
