Exhaustion from the day before will turn any flight into a proper snoozefest.

Recently had a 22-hour flight from the U.S. to Asia with a brief connection Paris. Flew in business, was perfectly comfortable, pic related. Was a decent experience but AirFrance's business service is horrific compared to Qatar and other Middle-Eastern carriers.

Anyway, not a richgay and still fly economy sometimes (just getting to a point in my life where paying out of pocket for business is a viable option). I always:
    >use a neck pillow (thought they were stupid as shit until I actually got one)
    >watch movies for an hour or two
    >take a 20-30mgs of melatonin + 50-100mgs of diphenhydramine (Benadryl) shortly before dinner
    >eat
    >pass the frick out

Earplugs and an eye mask help lots, if neither bothers you.

Unironically, fly business class in a lie-flat seat. you wake up actually satisfied and functional.

poorgay here, what's the point of business class? for example an economy flight is 650€ and a business one is 2500€, if you are a young healthy dude that's literally no point of wasting like 2000€ for a flight.

        >what's the point of business class?
It's right there in the name. It's designed for people travelling for work that need to be functional and not jet-lagged when they arrive. Companies are willing to shell out for this because it's ultimately cheaper than not having whatever employee they're sending not be there, or be dragging.

I travel for work and only fly domestically, which is lame, but when I arrive at a location, I'm expected to show up to work.

Sure, if your time is worthless. Time is very valuable to a lot of people, as is comfort and other things you typically associate with higher quality service

thank you for your answers, I get it now thats some bougie white collar shit. I flew one time in business (with a shitty company) and it was nice but not worth that kind of money.

As an addendum, it totally depends on the route and service.

I've flown business to and from the U.S. and Asia several times. However, I've also flown business to and from the U.S. and Mexico and other Latin American countries. Business in A.A. or United on a U.S.-Mexico route is literally just a comfy seat, it's nothing special and isn't worth paying more than $50-100 for.

On long-hauls with the right airline, you get a 100% private seat with a closeable door (flight attendant can still look over but whatever), lie-flat seat, on-demand food and drinks, etc.

IMO if you're paying out of pocket, business below $2k is a decent deal for U.S.-Asia/Middle-East, but there's no fricking way I'd put that money on a flight to Latin America or Western Europe, may as well just suffer in economy if it's just 5-6 hours

        > if you are a young healthy dude that's literally no point of wasting like 2000€ for a flight.
Just depends on you, senpai. I'm the samegay from the first post. I used to feel the same as you. However, during the pandemic, I received a ton of flight credits from Qatar Airways. When I was flying back to the U.S. from Pakistan, I realized I could use my credits to grab a business ticket for a couple hundred more than economy.

Once you fly business, you never want to go back. If you have the money and do research, it's a great product--it makes the flight not only painless but genuinely enjoyable. On my last flight, from Chicago to Delhi, I had a brief connection in Paris. Checked into the business lounge, had a full course meal, a shower, and chilled in the sauna.

Obviously you don't NEED to fly business. Ultimately, it's just 15-20 hours of discomfort (assuming long-haul to Asia etc). You can do it, and you don't need to spend extra to be comfy unless you want to. But if you have some extra money and it's not going to pose a massive expense, it turns the flight experience from "this is uncomfortable as frick, when is it over" to "I'm gonna eat this three-course meal, watch a movie, and turn my seat into a bed and wake up in my destination."

As others have said, it's also a good service for people who are actually in business--if you're going overseas for a meeting for just a couple days, you want to show up well rested, not exhausted A.F. because you were surrounded by crying babies and morons screeching at each other.

          >Once you fly business, you never want to go back.
This. I spend the extra for domestic first class (intl. FC is ass expensive on delta) because after 5-6 hours i dont have a burning desire to devolve into a Black person, rage and fight every motherfricker that stands up and clogs the frick out of economy with their 30 inch wheeled "carry-ons" while the plane is still taxiing. sit in the middle seat for 6 hours and tell me the sacrifice to your comfort and ability to function the rest of the day was worth saving a few hundred.

As far as domestic FC goes, you really can't beat it on an Embrarer with a 1-2 configuration. That solo window/aisle seat is *choice*

Even flying economy they usually sit obvious foreigners together and it's right at the front where there's more room. I picked up on this trend anywhere I've flown in SEA and even on JAL they sat like 6 of us right at the front. Makes a 13 hour flight more tolerable for sure.

If I am wealthy to the point where I would willingly spend over a thousand US dollars on any single flight then I'm so rich I can afford my own plane.

I flew business once on Air New Zealand and it was phenomenal. It made flying fun no doubt about it, but I also wasn't paying for it. The price difference on that ticket was $450 for economy to over $5000 for business, now I get the whole "time is money" thing but I think I can handle being inconveniently jet lagged for one day if it means I save around $4500 bucks. It's not like I'm going to be bedridden ill.

I fly a lot, enough to where I got comped an upgrade to business. It's no small feat to get to gold status on Star Alliance just flying economy cabins (I do a mix of business and personal travel). The vast majority of people I see in the premium cabins are obviously leisure travelers who got duped, some may be comps sure but definitely not all. The airlines make a killing off these rubes.

There's a massive power gap there.
