Less people will fit on planes because they are getting too obese.
Plane tickets will become cheaper for people who are not morbidly a beast.
    Airlines will downsize

    >Less people will be by air because it will be too expensive for them. Only richgays and occasional digital nomads but the latter not switching location as often as they do now. Everyone super pissed because they thought prices would go back down once the Ukraine war ended but they don't because the world is run by greedy shitfricks who are getting worse and worse every decade.

    >no more written travel guides, infos and reviews because AI will shit them out for free in seconds, instead everything will be video
    >no more fixed prices for tickets, everything from flights to museums need to be booked in advanced or you'll be israeliteed
    >few countries requiring actual visas or allowing genuine visa-free entry, most countries offering paid e-visas or electronic travel authorisations
    >fewer short flights due to climate regulations, fewer flights in general for plebs
    >generally more homogenisation due to globalisation and machine translation/interpretation

Markedly fewer flights, particularly into and out of "spoke" airports as the pilot shortage rolls in. If you plan to keep traveling, be located near a hub airport.

Destinations that are "cheap" today will be a lot more expensive in the future. South America, Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, etc.

Above-mentioned regions will westernize culturally. Lonely western men who are still holding out for a "traditional" wife will begin to consider Africa as their last resort.

Places where prostitution is legal or tolerated will change to a more restrictive policy, whether that be making it illegal in places where it was legal, or actually cracking down on it in places where it's already illegal but a blind eye is turned towards it.

Airplane seat classes will downgrade considerably.
Future First Class = Present Business Class
Future Business Class = Present Economy Plus
Economy Plus will cease to exist
Economy Class will be unchanged, but there will be more seats
True First Class seating won't exist except on a few middle eastern airlines who want to flex their wealth.

Carry-on luggage limits will be decreased. Presently, a 40L backpack roughly meets most airlines' maximum limits. In the future, it will be 25-30L. You can also no longer get away with bending the rules, they will actually enforce them; every major airline will be the same type of baggage nazis that you expect from budget airlines.

You are wrong about first class. That is where airlines actually make the most money - at least on long, international flights. If anything it might be expanded to cater to the people who can actually afford to fly.

The people who call the shots see many disadvantages of letting plebs travel as they please. As such, the following will happen:

    - Airlines will downsize and will become much more expensive.

    - Travelling by air will be considered a rich person's activity and will be met with even more restrictions from vaccine requirements to mandatory digital ID usage.

    - Countries will turn their mass tourism industries into more lucrative and sustainable "luxury tourism" industries, charging high fees for e-visas and limiting the number of visas given per year. Many regions in the world are actually planning to do so, including Venice in Italy for example.

    - Cheap destinations like Thailand will have modernized and diversified their economies enough to turn away from the mass tourism industry, effectively turning to "luxury tourism" and charging much higher fees in general to obtain visas and access the country.

    - Economy class is a meme and was never profitable, they'll get rid of it altogether.

    - Plebs will still be able to travel but from a few select airlines/airports, and it will be a first come first served basis. Other means of travel will become popular as well, such as ships now that "ecoships" are slowly becoming a thing.

Anyone who says it will be more accessible in the next 10-20 years is delusional as frick and doesn't understand how the economy works.

I sure hope flying will become a lot more expensive. It's absolutely ridiculous you can fly from Amsterdam to Ireland for less than a train ticket from Amsterdam to Brussels. Flying, just like eating meat, should become a rare luxury again if we want to even make it to the year 2100.

I'm not joking. We are destroying the planet and nobody wants to actually do something about it. Politicians keep discussing 50 year plans to maybe reduce this or that pollution maybe, if possible. They don't go after major polluting industries, they don't go after the massive tax breaks for oil and aviation companies, they refuse to invest in clean energy on a large scale. We are killing the planet and I genuinely believe at this rate we will not make 2100. There will be a major environmental catastrophe costing billions of lives. And I bet even then the people in power will refuse to something.

nah. Climate change is the last thing you need to worry about unless you live in New Orleans. The US is literally on the verge of a war with China right now over Taiwan. If China invades, there is a good chance the US bombs the shit out of the microprocessor factories to stop the Chinese from taking control of them. An embargo would last years and a lack of microprocessors could severely impact the world economy for a long time. That fricking dictator in China has been in power for 11 years. He's essentially installed himself as dictator for life and he is hard pressed to take over Taiwan. A war is probably coming. That's what you need to worry about.

such a war would not be close to the complete destruction of the global way of living. There will be famine, there will be mass destruction, there will be a lack of basic necessities.

Yea, but climate change is 90 percent a meme. The largest climate problem in the world is most likely in the middle east because countries keep damming up rivers and fricking the countries downstream. It's not the weather that's going to frick you up, it;s the war over resources because the population is expanding and they don't have water.

How significant is a 3 degree temperature increase in a 100 year period compared to an all out war between the US (the largest exporter of food in the world) and China( the 4th largest exporter of food in the world). Talk to me when a loaf of bread is $25 in Europe next year.

Won't happen in 10 years but I really hope in 20 years we return to trains for huge distance travel, especially with innovations in highspeed technology. I don't want to fly anymore, I would gladly take a train that takes a few more hours to go from Europe to Asia.

Would be sweet if we can somehow transform Russia from an AIDS-infested alcoholic shithole into a decent, relatively-modern, Western-friendly, country, then just zip across it and through China to SEA on high-speed rail.

Too bad, even here in leaf land the only way to become a professional pilot is either

      1. Be a rich kid and pay 150,000$ in private classes

      2. Go to the only public school program in your province, usually in some far away region up north where the natives are and live like a peasant for 3-4 years and with zero guarantees for a decent job because the canadian airlines aren't hiring that much.

If we continue with the current capitalistic trends then we might reach a point where planes might offer standing places with a rail you can grab unto during a 10 hour flight and the seats cost a kidney or two. Travelling costs could also skyrocket to a point where people would rather buy some sort of VR or AR movie package instead of getting on a plane.

Now I could imagine that the development of AI explodes into new horizons so you could have your very own private mini-plane driven by an advanced AI, but not only is it too early to tell but it also a bit too optimistic.
A slightly more realistic approach could be some new tech that allows planes to travel at mach speeds without injuring the civilians in cities when the plane goes by. In this case we could have travel times reduced drastically, potentially allowing a much better experience for all classes. The rich can enjoy an even more extravagant 1 hour flight, while the masses won't have to tolerate other people in the economy class for an extended period of time.
