How does FYROM compare to Bulgaria? Is there any real difference?

How does FYROM compare to Bulgaria? Is there any real difference? I had a decent time in the latter and learned the language well enough to get by.

All I know from first glance is that there's no 100% less coastline and the gypsies got replaced with Albanians.

Struga looks nice. I think their 8 year requirement for citizenship is excessive, but it seems super cheap with a very nice capital.

Slightly less grey and depressing than Bulgaria, otherwise it's pretty similar. They also love Alexander the great.

As a native Bulgarian speaker, I can understand 95% of the Macedonian dialect. I've seen Macedonians speaking on TV without any subtitles. If you speak some Bulgarian you shouldn't struggle too much there.

The Macedonian "language" is based on the western dialects of Bulgarian with some Serbian thrown in, whereas modern standard Bulgarian is based on eastern dialects.

    >How does FYROM compare to Bulgaria?
Our north monkeydonian brothers are politically, economically and societally much less developed.
    >Is there any real difference?
They have an amazing case of "we wuz" that rivals even melaninated kings.
