mostly I want to do nature shit, maybe spend a day or two in oslo for a museum/gallery and just wander about. I don't want to do clubbing, drugs and stuff like that

a 500ml bottle of water, a granola bar, and a gatorade .. at 7-11 .. was 18$ CAD... 1.8.d.o.l.l.a.r.s. And they get paid the same as me.

Imagine LIVING somewhere like that??? Damn.

      Also its boring as frick.

      how is this even justified

just take camping gear and dehydrated camping food and sleep out. hike and so on. take the bus to go long distances. Oslo is lame, half a day max.

How's the climate in the summer there? let's say in August? Do I need winter gear or it's mild enough to go with normal stuff?

I went in July and it was sunny and nice but I was in the south, not sure about way up north or at elevation.

You don’t even need winter gear in May.
North is like anywhere else in North Europe: expect drastic temperature changes at any time of the day (but never too cold), so always good to have an outershell just in case.

If you do 2-3 museums, I’d say Oslo lasts for about 2 good days. Not sure if the Munch museum is now open. I know that big museum (National museum?) is now finally open.
            Fran museum is absolutely great.

Munch is open and it has an exhibition until the 20th of august or something. So the good museums are Munch, fram and the National museum? You've been in those?

                Anonymous

Out of the three I have only been to Fram as Munch (well actually I have been to Munch, but it was reduced since 90!% of the museum was closed) and National were closed back then in 2019.
I don’t think you can go wrong with National, all National museums I did in Northern Europe (except Norway) were great/good. It’s also always a good opportunity to explore around as they are usually located in interesting parts of the city.

I also did this viking ships museum but it’s now closed. I spent like 3 days total in Oslo, went to Blå club, full of hipsters, walked around. The remaining of the trip I was doing nature things and went to other cities. I had a great time in Norway.

We were two and we don’t restrain ourselves.
Hotel was honestly not that expensive, London and Paris were way more expensive for a much shittier quality. Hotels were around 100-170 euros per night. Again, we didn’t restrain ourselves too much as we wanted something nice. At this rate you can get something comfy and clean in a nice neighborhood.

Food was expensive. For proper warm meals in restaurants that are not kebabs, expect 25-35 euros per dish.
Alcohol is shockingly expensive. Around 12-13-15 euros for a pint.

Museums’ prices are ok. I’d rather say that it’s other countries’ museum prices that went up.

As for nature and countryside, it’s cheaper but we rented a car so I guess it compensated. Surprisingly enough, car rental was (much) cheaper than France and UK, possibly because of lower demand.

        >how is this even justified
If you are too lazy to go to a proper supermarket you get to pay blood price. Things are 2-3x more expensive in 7/11 and Narvesen, never shop there. Only exception is when they have hotdog deals, you can get a big hotdog for 2,5€ which is about as cheap as you'll ever be able to eat in this country unless you cook your own food.

        >maybe spend a day or two in oslo for a museum/gallery and just wander about
Vigeland Parken is for sure the most important thing to see in Oslo, walking along Akerselva is comfy, and going up on St. Hanshaugen will give you nice views of the city + fjord. Akershus fortress for some military history, and there's a naval fortress (Oscarsborg) out on an island if you're interested in such which can be combined with Drøbak.

If you want spectacular nature you'll need to get to the western Fjords, best option would be to rent a car. You can camp basically anywhere in the country for free as long as you respect local property, and usually roadside huts aren't too expensive to spend a night. Otherwise there is a train that connects Oslo and Bergen (nice city) and you can get off and take the connection into Flåm. You'll get to experience some of the steep western fjords that way and without needing a car, but with all the limits that train travel entails.

If you plan to actual go into forested or mountainous areas you certainly do, we even had snow in Oslo this May and generally the weather is pretty sour outside of direct sunshine.

I gave a ton of suggestions and constructive advice. If you are too stupid to drink from the tap in Norway and complain about the price of bottled water I don't know what to tell you, but it definitely seems like a (you) problem.

Just admit your country's shittiness compared to mine and let it be. Accepting the problem is the first step towards improving. Entertaining the delusion will get you nowhere.

calling scandinavia a daycare state or wellfare state is always an interesting hollow insult when it comes time to admit they rank highest in education, life to work balance, happiness, health, height, wiener girth, etc.

they reinvested their oil money into a hedge fund, so they all get stupid amounts of free shit, gibs and benefits so things costing a lot of money isnt an issue to them.

Very far. My wife and I just did a roadtrip for a week. We spent $2000 total for airfare, electric car, cabins ($50) a night, charging costs, and food.

I'll post more info on it. Here some footage.

I recognized exactly what road you are driving on, you literally drove straight past a wooden viking stavechurch, you could see it from the road at around 7 minute mark. Shame about the weather, Slidre and Valdres are much better when it's sunny.

Just shoplift, the worst case scenario is you get locked up for FOUR whole hours in a room more furnished than your average hostel.

If you're a goodie twoshoes then just go to the churches and ask for handouts, which they will, uhh, hand out, because they're naïve Scandis.
Just make sure you aren't tweaking or drunk on hand sanitizer.

Scandinavia is babbys first stint of homelessness, it's laughably easy.

There are "fjords" of various kinds all over the world. Nowhere will you see fjords like the ones in western Norway, with enormously steep cliffsides dropping straight into the ocean. Work on your reading comprehension.
