How long can you comfortably hang in an airport?

I'm good all the way up to 7 hours.

4 hours MAX from the time set foot on the pavement, go through security, find the gate, take a shit, get a snack (eating and drinking in an airport is for lowlifes and alcoholics), pay bills, respond to emails, return calls, tie up loose ends, play a game or two, watch an anime, and walk around a little.

If I don't have shit to do after 2 hours I'm ready to just cancel kek

      >Eating and drinking in airport is for low life's
Taking a shit on a toilet that is used by people to do awful dumps thousands of times a day is ok

Your logic is fricking moronic anon

there was a thread on here recently about a chinese guy who apparently spent about a decade living in an airport
not sure if i could manage that. but i can easily handle a whole day especially since i usually travel business class if i'm going long haul or have a frequent flyer level that lets me into the business lounges. i can spend hours in there drinking average wine and eating little sandwiches. somehow it feels like a kind of liminal time, like real time is not passing.
still i guess sitting in a business lounge for a few hours makes me a "lowlife" according to our anime watching airport shitting friend in

Flew from LAX to Singapore in economy. 17 hours. I took an edible and crashed for 6 hours. The other 11, watched videos, read, took small naps, ate.

Depends on the airport. Portland, maybe like 4 hours. Take a look around, browse at the book store, eat, watch a movie or the planes taking off. Calgary’s airport is nice. I don’t love Toronto’s but it’s clean. Detroit is kind of a dump. LAX is really boring and I don’t like waiting there. The stores aren’t that great and there isn’t really a lot of art or anything, very utilitarian.

I actually live in Vancouver and it bums me out that I’ll never have to hang out in the airport for any period of time because it’s really nice in there.

LAX just sucks to me because it's always crowded to fricking shit. Maybe I just go there at bad times, though.

Double digit hours in Korea. They literally have a nap room with dimmed lights and fully reclined seating

no (jungle) nigs too, so felt my items were safe

In an airport anything from 3-4 hours. The 6 hour average is annoying, but manageable.
Anything over that then I will make plans for a day trip into the city or a way of sleeping properly.
I normally disregard the first and last hour of a layover since you will be spending it disembarking your initial plane and the latter boarding the next.

If it's red eye hours I can go all night. I love watching planes take off and land when it's dark, the airport is quiet, and I'm not sharing the waiting area with tons of people.

I usually get bored within 2 hours, but Singapore Airport could keep you occupied for 24 hrs.

anything more than that and there's usually something wrong with the airline im flying

I've been stuck at Mccarren airport for 10 hours twice now. I swear the airlines are trolling me but every time I go to vegas they contact me saying my flight has been changed and MUST get to the airport to change it. Calling and emailing doesn't work, only for me to show up and they make me wait. I felt moronic both times.
I was cheap at the time and didn't want to rent another car and too mad to enjoy anything outside so I festered there.

I did 4 hours recently in FLL. Alcohol and traveling with friends definitely helps with the passing of time so I didn't mind the layover that much. Plus we chatted up people at the bar, making small talk with all the people coming and going to different destinations. Home, work, wedding, foreign, and domestic travels; people love talking about themselves so it's easy to get them talking about A to B.
Solo and in general I'd say 4 hours is the most I would reasonably do. When it gets to 5+ hours of sitting in the airport I get this feeling of "why the frick am I not moving to my final destination yet" but I guess every destination has a corresponding journey. Just not a huge fan of sitting in airports and everything is fricking expensive frick airport prices so bad shit is moronic.

Bro, me too. Flight got delayed twice, I ended up just sitting on my phone, squatting next to a support pillar.

I had a twelve hour layover from 10 to 10 I walked half the time

If I have lounge access, and the lounge is decent with an open bar and showers, 6 hours is fine. In general though anything above 4 hours is way to long, with 2-hour layovers being just about ideal.

Do airports let you bring your own sleeping bag to sleep in for waiting?

I mean, unless that is small enough to be your carry-on? I guess you could surrender it at the gate, because otherwise it would be in checked.

Life hack: purchase a giant Tolberone from duty free, ask for a plastic bag, return it without said plastic bag. Repeat 20 times = 20 free plastic bags. Make holes in the bottoms of 19 of them. Put the last plastic bag on your feet = boom. Free sleeping bag any airport in the world.

I can comfortably hang around an airport (assuming no lounge or dayroom in an airport hotel is on offer) about three or four hours. If there’s a good lounge I can manage maybe six without complaining. I HAVE hung around in airports for as long as ten or twelve hours, cannot recommend to anyone sane. Nowadays in the very unlikely event I wind up with such a long layover I try to make an excursion into the city if I can. But I avoid that kind of nonsense.

In a lounge, 3-4 hours max depending on the quality of the lounge. A good Delta SkyClub I can do 3+ hours, some random shitty overcrowded Priority Pass club, less.

If my flight is any later than that, I am booking on a different airline or pushing it a day and sleeping in a hotel overnight. I don’t wait around at airports.

    depends on the airport
if its an actual good airport like Kansai Airport, that's basically an 8-floor department store full of bars, restaurants and shit to do i'll gladly spend ~8 hours hanging out.

if its just a fricking tin shed next to a tarmac then as little time as possible.

    OP

    Here's my airport story.

    Context
    >Be me flying solo for Colombia 2nd time to see my Latina GF I met in 1rst trip
    >Young&dumb.JPEG
    >Flight is as follow: Calgary + Stop in Houston + Bogota
    >1rst flight was supposed to depart from Calgary at 5:00pm to arrive in Houston for 9PM and next flight for 11PM.

    >Be me prepared as frick and ready to frick
    >Arrive at airport around 3:00pm
    >No waiting at custome what a luckyday... Yeah!
    >sit waiting lobby after customs around 3:30pm
    >start waiting
    >5:00pm
    >more waiting
    >Eventually realize the flight is delayed
    >Frick me right

    >Flight shows up at 7:00pm
    >Still believe we can make it
    >The other plane will wait for me obviously...

    >Finally arrive in Houston
    >Still in the sky, captain screech to the speaker that there is a mild thunderstorm.
    >More delay.
    >At this point 12:00am
    >Tired as frick since worked in construction that day some woke up a 4:00AM

    >Get off airplane and rush to see if next flight is still there by a miracle
    >Obviously not...
    >Go to customer service desk of united airlines
    >Wait in line (Now 1:00am)

    >Customer service reps serve three people then tell everyone else from our whole plane to frick off
    >No next ticket for now
    >No food voucher
    >No Hotel voucher cause thunderstorm means everything is full
    >Customer service were all nogs laughing at us Misérables stuck travelers.

    >Now 2:00AM
    >Realize that I must sleep on the floor somewhere
    >Alone, can get stab or robbed at any moment
    >All seats have metal stoppers armrest to stop people from sleeping comfy
    >All massaging chairs taken by nigs n' spics....

Pretty much stayed in Houston airport for like 12:00AM to 11:00AM.

Would never do it again and will never flight united again.

Had a similar story in Denver. Frontier cancelled a flight because of "inclement weather" but every other airline was flying, turns out it was a pilot scheduling issue that they lied about and blamed it on the weather so they didn't have to comp hotel rooms. Ended up in the Denver airport for nearly 14 hours before I lucked out and found a friend of a friend driving back to Montana in a couple of days and just rode with him. It wouldn't have been a big deal if the USO was open 24/7 but they close at 8, and so does basically the whole airport. Impossible to sleep there because the Somali janitors don't give a frick and will just vacuum next to your head all night long no matter where you are.

I've never really had an issue with United besides the occasional old and broke plane (seat recline not working, in flight audio busted). I've filed numerous complaints on their website and they always give me 100-150$ in credit just for b***hing about their shit. That's a RT trick you can use.

Second time I went to thailand, it was right before starting my current job, i.e. was inbetween student and work life, I wanted to save money on the flight so I chose one with a long overlay in Muskat, Oman lol. I believe it was something around at 12 hours. At least they had a subway and DQ there, but 12 hours was too long hahaha

Not overnight, but have spent 8 hours before. Lounge access necessary, being locked in with the cattle in general boarding I would say 1 hours maximum.

Depends on the airport, really. But I could do 8hrs easy at any major airport. 6 hours max at small ones (I'd rather step outside and go through customs again).

Some airports like in Gunung Mulu, you don't have time to wait.
