How would I go about planning walking across Europe.

I want to walk from France to Greece, I’ve never done anything longer than a 3 day hike. I’ve got enough money to not have to worry about food or accommodation but I’d like to do it as cheap as possible.
At the moment I’m still just in the planning stage and it would be really helpful to get some general advise/info from people who who have attempted and accomplished this kind of thing so I know what to start thinking about and prepping.

    >Get good shoes
    >begin route planning on google maps avoiding highways
    >enjoy a very long and boring walk

I just got done hiking around Europe, it's not undoable or all that hard by any means just boring as shit after the first hour. I didn't care to hike across europe because I am aware it just turns into a lot of farm land and small towns with virtually nothing to do. You're best off walking the cities, then taking a bus to get through the farm lands you really aren't going to miss all that much.

I don’t really mind that I just love walking, especially in the country and I plan to head through lots of towns and cities on my route anyway.
Thanks for the advise I had thought about buses to get through long stretches of country when I’m tired.

Id say fact that he's done a 3 day hike before , means he is experienced i will say it in french so i can practice

I’m not french kek, I’m just starting there because I live on one of the Channel Islands and so won’t need to travel through england.
Thanks for the advise I translated it, I know how to put up a tent and most basic survival stuff, it’s the cities and route planning I need advice for so thanks for the bit about hostels.

Anon I was hiking in Europe last month for a few weeks. Europe gets insanely boring once you leave the main cities where everything is compacted into. For perspective OP is essentially asking how cool it would be to walk across PA, only 5x the length. It's something that can be fun if there is some unique lanscape or historical town to invest in, but outside that it's going to be just going over some rolling hills with the occasional police or driver stopping to ask if you are okay.

OP, you would be best to take buses or a train between cities stopping at smaller towns to explore otherwise you're seriously just going to be looking at farm+wind turbine+small town of 200 people and shit all to do. Nothing like stopping over in Stenay to see "museum of beer" that simply amounts to a shed with some distilling drums.

Not trying to meme THE HUSSLE AND BUSSLE OF THE GOOD OLE CITY! :O it's just a bunch of nothing.

If youre easily bored then youre just a boring person whose pleasure receptors have been fricked by porn/sugar/videogames.

I dont get bored at all walking through europe but then again Im a polyglot and can converse with almost anyone in western europe including tiny villages

Anon I love hiking, mountain climbing, and being an extrovert. It's fun to get out and about, however WALKING through Europe is going to get old real fast. The smaller towns you go to will require you to know a slew of languages and slag/idioms of said language as well making it harder. If OP wants to do that and stare at wheat fields for 80% of the day, great go for it, but it's going to get dull quite fast.

Walking through Scandinavia was more my thing because the geography was at least changing enough to not make me dull out of my mind. The roads OP would need to take to traverse the greater parts of europe aren't going to be direct

Pic related anon, would need to do some at times wonky walking as he's not going to just stroll down the N3 with a back pack without getting stopped. If OP is carrying 100% of his shit and actually wants to see some places along the way ~6 hours a day is pretty ideal for walking. This is going to be mostly farms and more farms with a road of nothing. By all means best of luck to you, but 90% of your trip will be staring at the same crops.

Check these out, E4 goes through both France and Greece. And you could easily make your own route using these tracks.

These tracks are mostly on actual walking tracks and not roads for cars so it would definitely be more interesting.
