Hypothetically, let's say you had to live in California for your whole life and never leave the border. What would you do? Where would be your home base and what would you travel to on weekends and on longer week long vacations?

Killing yourself is not allowed.

I'd probably live near San Diego because it's more conservative and has nice food. For vacations I'd mostly visit the mountains and probably avoid LA.

I live in San Diego. I like it here, a lot of the things I like to do are here or somewhere close. I avoid LA. It completely went to shit during covid and is full of bums and people wearing masks by themselves outside now. I'll go to like Long Beach which is chill but not actual LA.

Palm Springs is like living in Arizona but without the lower prices and hands-off government that comes with it. Its over 100 every day from May until about Halloween.

What's the most conservative part of California then?

San Diego used to be very conservative. But they elected a leftist taco looking frick that talks positively about WEF agendas so idk. I think a lot of the more conservative boomers have left the area and have been replaced by hipster homosexuals and million fricking mexicans looking for free shit. The demographic change is noticeable.

I'd say its still more conservative than LA or the bay area which are further to the left than Bernie Fricking Sanders these days, just because so much employment is tied up with the military. It's hard to be far left and work for General Atomics making nukes.

The most outwardly red parts of the state though are the rural white areas of the inland empire, everywhere stretching from Temecula to Rosamond as long as its not a town with a lot of mexicans (so not large cities) people will be extremely conservative and will generally like guns, ATVs and shit like that. The other conservative part of the state is the far north above Redding.

Newport Beach in Orange County is nearly all white, and they overwhelmingly vote republican in local and national elections. Because the republicans run the city, violent crime is essentially non-existent. They enforce vagrancy laws, they don't lure homeless people into town with shit like homeless shelters and needle exchange programs. There are essentially zero rent controlled apartments. And if you steal something from a store, the police show up and arrest you. It's a hidden paradise in a liberal nightmare state. The problem is that everyone wants to live here, so real estate prices are fricking insane.

There are some other nice little areas in Orange County like Irvine, Laguna Niguel, Laguna Hills, Aliso Viejo and a few others. The apartments have gotten so expensive, that some areas don't have any blacks or Mexicans and therefore zero crime.

I lived in Savannah for a year and let me tell you buddy those black people are something else. This one guy would come up to me and ask if I'd pay for him to wash my car. He'd also be shirtless and have these disgusting fingernails. Sometimes I'd see him hitchhiking with his daughter. This one other house of black people was always causing a ghetto drama at night. I distinctly remember one of them shouting "YOU GET FRICKING FREE FOOD STAMPS"! I had this one based neighbor who was always hinting he was going to burn their house down. There was this other black lady who would always scream at me to keep my dog off her curb, but then her kids would always be riding their bikes around other people's driveways. I could go on but I'm much happier being in a place with fewer black people.

I'm going to be real with you. I had black friends when I lived in Baltimore. There was a school for the blind across from my apartment complex and I used to hang out with a cool dude who went there. I had a black girlfriend who was from Jamaica for a brief time. And I had a lot of cool black dudes that I worked with. But 95 percent of the black people in Baltimore were straight trash. They were unemployed, drug addicted Black folks who wandered the streets and sat on the porch all day doing nothing. I would love to live in an area withe a bunch of well to do blacks who were friendly and hardworking, but I don't think such a place exists, or Ive never seen it. In Baltimore, I had so many negative experiences with black people that it would take years for me to tell you about them. The week before I moved, I saw a homeless person commit suicide off an overpass in front of me. Shit like that happened almost weekly. So I moved my ass to Newport Beach. The worst crime Ive seen in 10 years was a mild fist fight over a game of beer pong on the 4th July. Are you really so delusional that you think black people are living some peaceful harmonious existence?

Lived in So Cal all my life, current SFV resident.

If I could only live in one place in California, and had no worries about job/family whatever, id choose Bishop, CA. Perfect jumping off point for everywhere in the Sierra Nevada - the most temperate major mountain range in the world. The Sierra Nevada are absolute world class territory.

Id also live in Santa Barbara, Calabasas,or almost any wilderness adjacent area. Even Acton seems like a quiet, comfy place, yet 30 minutes or so from the Valley with no traffic. Many coastal towns are also quite lovely. Almost everywhere I listed is incidentally “red”.

Bishop looks boring. It's a place you drive through. The town looks like it hasn't changed since 1950. That might sound comfy but I think it would get old quick since nobody who likes any kind of fun lives there. I've heard most people there are mormon. It does look and feel like a small town in Utah. The nature there is very good and few people seem to visit the eastern sierra except for popular sites like Yosemite. You'll almost always have wherever you hike or camp to yourself.

I lived in San Francisco for nearly twenty years and will always love the place, but I probably won’t go back. I would like a biggish house in the Berkeley hills, from which I would go to SF for city needs, and to rural Sonoma or Mendocino for country needs. Tahoe in the winter, maybe the occasional summer, beaches down south once or twice a decade when the itch strikes.

      Anonymous

Great taste. This would be an option I'd consider too. Some of those homes in the Berkeley hills are insanely comfy, particularly as you get back toward Tilden.

      >Newport Beach
best city in all of the US. Girls are hot as frick too.

La Jolla is pretty nice. I don’t know, though.

San Diego suburb is the answer

      https://i.imgur.com/Pmta4Xp.jpg

      >Where would be your home base
Carmel-by-the-sea. Neat little town and very beautiful. Clint Eastwood used to be its mayor at one point.
      >what would you travel to on weekends
Thousand Oaks. Some of the greatest sites you will see in California.
      >on longer week long vacations?
Canyon Lake. Another beautiful town to relax and enjoy life.

all great choices too, I'm fond of Carmel as well. The central coast, particularly Carmel is so underrated

I bought a house in 2019 for 400k. Small town about an hour from a major city in CA. Now it's worth 800k and my neighborhood is full of mask wearing Tesla driving homosexuals that work from home, moved here from LA, voted in insane liberal policies, and all the normal people and families disappeared off to Idaho or Texas or something. It's childless laptop class and beaners here only now. It's cool I have equity, I'm happy about that, but holy frick who can afford this and work normal jobs. These definitely aren't my people.

      my sympathies to you.

      Other Options I'd consider:
      >Live in West Marin (probably Bolinas), the place is pure beauty and soul. Vacation in Joshua Tree, San Diego, Tahoe, Humboldt

      >Live in a dope house in Sausalito with a view of the bay, vacation in same spots

      >Live Santa Cruz, vacation in the Sierras or Big Sur
*this was my life for years, can confirm it's comfy as frick

      >Live in Encinitas, vacation in Monterey bay, Joshua Tree, Los Angeles or OC / SD for parties and night life

      >Live in Sebastopol area, vacation along the northern coast of the state, nightlife in Oakland or SF

      etc.

There's plenty of options. It's such a big state, with so many remote areas and different micro climates that you can get a lifetime's worth of variety and scenery pretty easily. It really does have pretty much everything in terms of foods, cultures, entertainment, sports, etc. You can be rural and isolated, or suburban and normie as frick, or all up in any number of subcultures no problem. CA has (or had) enough travelers and transplants coming in that you get plenty of variety of people, assuming you're in a densely populated enough of a place. I honestly miss the frick out of it, and if it were affordable and not ruined by immigrants, butthole transplants, and drought, I'd still happily call it home.

This 'challenge' wasn't really challenging at all.

Long story short, yes. Unless you're in an area that burned recently, Ready, Set, Go is a very real concern. The bigger problem is the shit air quality during fire season because it will impact basically the entire west coast. This is starting to be an issue all year around now, instead of just in the late summer and early fall as previously.

At least people from 'bumfrick nowhere' who are done with their stint in 'da big city' get to go home with a savings account that will let them buy a house and be comfortable, us cursed Cali residents have the option of going back to our hometowns in Cali where, surprise surprise, the house prices have tripled and our savings aren't worth shit. And obviously other states don't want us moving in and inflating their housing markets either, hence threads like this, which are basically 'how can I escape Cali without actually being a Cali refugee?'

It's not any more noticeably Mexican than other areas of CA that are hundreds of miles away from the border. Areas of Eastlake and Chula Vista feel like they're closer to the Philippines than to TJ.

I would find some mountain town that doesn't get hot, have low levels of non-Whites and is conservative. Sadly a place probably does not exist.

I really like the constant cool weather of the Eureka/Crescent City area. Are there any Conservative places up there? Apparantly Eureka is a super ultra leftist place that even pantyfa are scared of.

In California the closer you get to the ocean the more liberal it gets, sometimes you don't even have to go very far (a mile) before things get noticeably less pozzed.

As someone who lives in California, i honestly think San Bernardino county is the best place for being close to tourist destination while being out of hell. Upper upland is especially nice

Born and raised Latino Angelino. I grew up all my life in the North Hollywood Arts District, which used to be primarily white and Latino families. After the construction of the NoHo Red Line station, a bunch of new development followed in the following decades, and has picked up even more these last few years, as old apartments and houses have been bought out and are replaced by huge, overpriced apartment blocks.
While development is sometimes good for the community, it also brings in a lot of people. Besides an increase in homeless, there has also been an uptick in the black population when before the number was relatively small. A lot of it can be attributed to black people going to college and making more money to afford the prices of these apartments, but as the old saying goes "you can take a black from the ghetto but you can't take the ghetto out the black". These last few years of development has brought an increase in crime including break-ins, burglaries, assaults, and in some cases even shootings.
Right now there is a bit of an exodus from residents to other communities to escape this diversification. This includes my family and I, and we will be moving up to Santa Clarita where it's still relatively affordable, and still white, and non-ghetto minorities. LAPD does nothing to stop the growing crime, and many blacks (and other Latinos) have grown emboldened by this. Communities like Studio City and Sherman Oaks are also seeing increase in crime. Burbank is a good option but it's hella expensive, but their police are good at keeping homeless out and keeping crime in check.

so by doing that, the city and real estate developers are just creating future ghettos?

      >San Rafael
Has a lot of low rent apartment complexes filled with people of color. It's the worst part of Marin County. The crime is like 5 times higher than in Tiburon 5 miles to the south.

Seriously the whole bay area is just ass. Not even from the political side, there's just nothing worth seeing except for the city itself but that's it's own set of problems. But to get to any good beaches, mountains etc., they're hours away. All the service jobs are beaners, poojeets or angry rude asians. It's a huge sausage fest and the few women there are usually trans or lesbos. All the things people brag about are variations of how you can be a nerd there without being considered a loser. That's it.

Marin County has a lot of outdoor stuff. Mount Tam is right there. Epic hiking. And the bike trails in Marin are world class. You can Kayak, swim, sail, etc. Muir Beach is 20 minutes away. The weather on Marin is also much nicer than the city because they don't get the fog because the mountain blocks it.

I actually found it to be very easy as a guy to get laid. With so many gay dudes, the women were DESPERATE for wiener. The only reason I left was because my rent was out of control. $3600/month for 800 square feet with 1 bed/1bath in Tiburon.

San Rafael may be 66 percent white, but the 34 percent of Hispanics in those low rent apartments sure do commit a lot of crime.

Where in CA? People in SF are used to 60 jacket weather and hate the heat. In San Joaquin valley it regularly get up to 110 in the summer, so I doubt theyd be very impressed by you

Someone i know who has lived in fresno for the last 5 years but grew up here came to visit

It was 75 degrees and 60% humidity, the dude was dying and didnt even want to go outside at all. For us, thats the nicest weather we can even hope for. He knew it because he grew up here and was very embarrassed.

Humidity is a lot bigger deal than you think.

    >Hypothetically, let's say you had to live in California for your whole life and never leave the border. What would you do? Where would be your home base and what would you travel to on weekends and on longer week long vacations?
    >Killing yourself is not allowed.
I am not a US citizen. I would just let my visa expire and have ICE deport me back to my home country. Booyah, I've made it out.
