I will go on a short trip to Poland very soon and I can only pick either north(Gdansk) or south(Krakow) I will drive by car and I want to stop in between cities to see sights. Which direction should I go?
Emphasis being on history of Poland. I know Krokow used to be the old capital but I dont want to drive a really long time to the south just to see one city. But I have no clue if there is alot of medieval history in the north. Help me out anons

South is much better for medieval castles and other interesting stuff, also Kraków is much more interesting city than Gdańsk, which is dirty and ugly shithole with nothing nice to visit.

If you decide on Gdansk, check out Malbork, Chelmno and Torun

Malbork is certainly worth visiting if you’re interested in medieval history. I’m not sure about Gdansk itself but there’s an impressive cathedral. The museum about Second World War, westernplatte and the beach at Sopot are also noticeable.

Go Krakow unless it's summer and you wanna chill on the beach.

If you want castles, homie, do the trail of the Eagle's Nest

If you want history of 'Poland' specifically, north isn't the best option. After 1300 or so German Teutonic knights colonised Prussia (Malbork etc) and treacherously took Gdansk. While the Kingdom of Poland recovered it in 1454, it kept the German character brought in by the Teutonic knights, however was always pretty loyal to the Crown. And some nice buildings by the shore.

So your best bet for Polish medieval history is indeed the region around Kraków, south Silesia, Niedzica Castle close to Slovakia, and so on.
Further east like Lublin and Zamość for more Renaissance-style architecture

Thank you for the suggestions we will take the trip to Niedzica castle. Do you know of any other particular sights that are worth except the wawel which is obvious

Driving from the west approaching Kraków, make sure to visit the ruins of Tenczyn castle

        > Kraków
The Gothic Marian Basilica on the central Town Square is also a must-see, but i'm sure you would have entered it anyways as it is hard to miss.
On the outskirts visit the Benedictine Monastery in Tyniec, the oldest monastery in Poland, from the 11th century

On your way from Kraków to Niedzica, you can stop at the Nowy Wiśnicz castle which is right alongside the road from Bochnia. It was raised in the 14th century, with some further renovations in the 16th and 17th century.

btw speaking of Bochnia, it has the oldest salt mine in Poland and it's open to visitors, if that interests you. Wieliczka is the hyped-up one but this one is the oldest.

Also along the way to Niedzica, Stary Sącz has some medieval heritage (a stop over on an important trade route to the Kingdom of Hungary), maybe you could stop there for a coffee or something.

Out of the way but very nice: Sandomierz is well known for its old city, with the origins reaching the 10th century and many edifices remaining from the 13th or 12th centuries
Sanok has a nice old town too

in kraków also the Collegium Maius, the oldest building of the Jagiellonian University, where Nicolaus Copernicus studied (brought the idea of geocentricity to the mainstream). there is courtyard as in picrel but also some old chamber rooms to see

hope all this was somewhat helpful to you

I hear mixed things about polish women, pol flags say they are irredeemable prostitutes while westerners say they are way better than westerners? Is the tedpill somewhere in the middle

Some of them are good girls, some of them are giga prostitutes. Like everywhere else. Poland is pretty westernized nowadays.

they are prostitutes but east euros are just angry their women prefer foreign men since east euro men are ugly as frick.

go to anywhere in Russia or Eastern Europe and you will find the same dichotomy: very ugly men and very beautiful women.

the average Western man looks like a model in eastern europe so eastern european women flock to them in seconds after spotting them

Not at all. Most tourists agree that EE countries are full of beautiful women and very ugly guys. This is substantiated by many travel youtubers including Kurt Caz.

Notice at 6:50 he says that the women are beautiful but the men look like goblins.

Which is funny because the opposite is true for western countries. Specifically anglo/germanic nations. That being said EE men exude masculinity. Even older EE men still focus on fitness and fashion

Eastern European men are definitely not ugly and are above average looks wise but at least in Russia the majority are alcoholics and deadbeat gopniks. Women aren’t virgin trad wives but just being a westerner makes you punch above your weight, I’ve seen so many beautiful Russians with disgusting armenian and Georgian men

                >Eastern European men are definitely not ugly
Ok. I don't call people ''ugly'' because that implies low value as a human being, which shouldn't be the case just because they look less physically attractive.
With that said, the truth is that in Ukraine, Russia and Belarus a phenomenon happens that is mostly common in the the Eastern side of the world: men are not attractive on average while women are.
But those three countries are special. Russian, Ukrainian and Belarus women look MUCH more attractive on average than any other type of women.
This leads(imo) to less entitlement mong them because they simply cannot be pick or feel like princesses when there're plenty of more attractive ones around.

                >men are not attractive on average while women are
That's pretty much every place in the world, anon. You bet there is some coomer out there who was a very intense fetish for Bangladeshi or Bolivian women, probably on this very board, while women usually don't fetishize specific races unless they're mentally ill.

No. This isn't about men judging female beauty in less harsh ways than women towards men.
Those eastern european countries have(as far as western beauty standards go) very attractive average female populations, much more so than german, french, italian, irish, scandinavian women.
The men on the other hand, look less physically attractive than other western men by a significantly amount. This creates a unique combination of abundance of attractive females and uncommon sight of AVERAGE looking males.
I feel shallow saying all of this but I'm just putting out what I've seen.

This is true. I'm a Slavic guy living in America, and I notice that men of West European descent generally have more angular facial features. In contrast, Slavs have more rounded features and tend to build more fat in the face even at low body fat percentages.

It's also infuriating having to hear ridiculous questions from my family about my romantic life (or rather lack of). They always seem confused at why I don't have a perfect 10 wife because in Eastern Europe, it's very common for unattractive men to marry very good-looking women since they have much lower standards than American women. You will literally find ugly short autistic morons with gorgeous spouses over there. Eastern Europe might be poor, but at least the men there don't have to try much to get a decent-looking woman. It's a privilege they enjoy that most men in other parts of the world don't get to experience.

I'd also say Slavic guys experience premature balding more frequently than Western men. I went bald before the age of 30. Most guys my age still have a full head of hair and the only other guys I know who are also experiencing hair loss seem to be of Slavic extraction. I had a chance at maybe finding a decent-looking woman back when I had hair, but now it's game over for me.

Kek homie what are you talking about you yourself just admitted EE prostitutes have no standards. Trust me I am armenian in the US and its the same shit here, you literally are a god if you are a diaspora and have a green card. Plus they are less likely to ditch you when they marry a gullible westerner if you get set up by family or go back home to wife hunt. I see the ugliest motherfrickers on Facebook with gorgeous wives

My family is from a slav country that's in the EU. Things have improved a lot over there so wife-hunting isn't as easy as it used to be. Also, most women there can easily just go live in Western Europe thanks to the freedom of movement granted by EU/Schengen laws. Nowadays, a lot of slav women would rather just live in Western Europe instead of the US.

                > premature balding
don't project your bad russian genes on an entire race come on dude

                t. No one in my extended Slavic family is balding

I'm not Russian. Also, if you're being honest that no one in your extended family has experienced hair loss, then you are an exception.

I would still try honestly. Being a westerner is still objectively a leg up especially if you are the same origin and culture. Let me guess Croatia? The women there seem like shameless prostitutes. Balkans seem like Amsterdam compared to Armenia and Georgia lol

This. Eastern Euro men are the most privileged men in the world when it comes to the dating game.
