I'd like to go somewhere that resembles a Miyazaki movie, with landscapes like pic related. Where can I most easily find this aesthetic?
Japan is the obvious answer for weeb shit but I feel like his movies have more of an early 19th century Europe feel.

I don’t know about that mecha thing but you can get the crags-and-farms aesthetic in a few places. Dolomites in Italy, pretty much anywhere in Norway, Scottish highlands.
Thanks but no thanks, anon. Without the mecha, it's not worth it.
Isn't this just Austria?
I've been to Austria, it definitely had that vibe but I am seeking somewhere new.
The Pyrenees, Basque country
seems like any landscape that can sustain farmland in the mountains - bonus if near water
I’ve actually been there. Faroes is great for that kind of thing but it is very remote
this one probably looks good only from this angle
Caucasus mountains in Georgia. Most underrated spot on earth.
your op pic is giving a specific vibe but there are articles of differnet places (mostly asia obv) that have influenced settings in his movies
so

Stealing some others
Castle in the Sky – Civita di Bagnoregio
Howl’s Moving Castle – The Hofburg Palace in Vienna and city of Colmar
Porco Rosso is set in milan and adriatic sea, some specific spot like Stiniva Cove

Rolling green fields and an old world field? Try Virginia
Peak district if you like rolling hills and classical villages
Laputa world by Miyazaki was based on Wales
Yep, specifically the former mining towns
How? Laputa is the most beautiful movie he made and Wales is probably the least aesthetically pleasing place on planet Earth. I'd sooner go to New Jersey.
Northern Wales is lovely. Southern is shite.
The whole island is shite.
>Wales is an island
Yes, the island Wales is on also contains Scotland and England.
I believe that the town in the start of Howl's might be partly based on Heidelberg. You walk up to the castle and look down at the town and it looks quite similar.
The Alps are the inspiration for the landscape, though. Austrian or West Swiss.
Miyazaki movies are usually based on the aesthetics of Belle Epoque Europe. The Alps, in the case of your image.
How could that be? He is Japanese.
This was based on Akiyoshidai I thought. Southest Japan is usually missed.
Princess Mononoke was inspired by Yakushima
