You will get caught and deported and banned. What gave you such a moronic idea? How would you even survive without a job and place to live?

Black person just apply for the fricking visa. If you don't have a criminal record, are white, and American, they'll give it to you.

Everywhere except the US has actual immigration laws. If you overstay in mexico as a US citizen you'll get btfo'd too. Really makes you think, actually

    >overstayed the frick out, like years, what chances they have to catch me?
They have chances any time you need to present anyone with an ID, for which your passport (by now clearly indicating that you have overstayed the frick out) will be your only legal option.

Even just overstaying the frick out, like years, isn’t that likely in the first place—you’re going to need to present ID to get a place to stay, unless you’re hoping to overstay the frick out, like years, under a bridge, like a hobo (in which case you’ll be picked up for vagrancy and deported then).

If this is "real" and not a weeb asking hypothetically could you do this XD

It's a matter of time before you end up in an accident, sick, or in some legal matter where you're asked for some form of identification and get found out. At which point you'll get arrested, fined, and deported back home where you may or may not have additional charges depending if you are back owed on tax, failure to appear for something like jury duty, and so on.

There is a 99.9% chance this thread is a weeb thinking they can just move there and be under the radar because "not like other foreigners". Play stupid games and expect to win stupid prizes.

        >Cope, that wont happen
I see that "cope" has gone the way of "cuck" and lost all meaning.

        >(Am I being ordered to cope with something? What? Am I being accused of already coping with something? I'm not sure what that could be, apart from bemused irritation at how successful this useless troll thread has been...)

Anyway, it's the law that foreigners who don't live in Japan have to carry their passports on them at all times, and foreigners who do live in Japan for anything longer than 90 days are required by law to obtain residence cards they're obliged to carry at all times. Along with the various times when one will be required to use of one of these documents (financial or legal transactions, getting a cell phone, anything related to signing a contract, dozens of employment-related things), the police are allowed to stop you and ask you for it at any time, for any reason at all. If you don't have it on you, they will detain you, put you in a police car and take you to get it, and you can be fined 200,000 yen just for not having it on you (whether or not these fines get levied seems to be largely a matter of how cooperative you are with the officers--it's also possible to be thrown in jail for a year for 'refusing' to show the card when asked, but I assume you have to piss the arresting officer off pretty badly for that to happen).

It's not happening 24/7, but I know two people personally who've been stopped and made to fetch their cards, one of whom was out jogging, the other of whom was riding a bicycle (oh, and buying a bicycle is another time you need to provide ID; Japan is so freaked out by the threat of bicycle theft that all bikes are licensed/registered when purchased).

And if it's not already obvious, the residence card (so-called gaijin card) clearly indicates in bright red how long you're allowed to be in Japan, and yes, if you're expired, they arrest and deport you.

It's possible OP or anyone could live illegal in Japan for a fair bit, but they are going to need some skillets be it working under the table for a firm for constant income, know someone they can hide out at that knows the area very well, and constantly change habits for things.

Hiding in plain site would be the best way to go about it, if you can keep your smarts about you which would be sticking in with the masses you'd probably be harder to spot. However, this would mean 1) you need sizable amount of cash to live in such an area, 2) some-kind of local person who'd be willing to rent under the table or such, and 3) very good understanding of the area and how to blend in.

The worst thing you could do is live in a less populated area where as a foreigner you'd stick out, or open your mouth trying to get a Japanese waifu who will run the second they know you're living basically broke and illegal. Unless you actually have a couple mill in the bank where paying off someone would be a no brainer for you to stay, you got 0 chance making it any length of time over a tourist visa or working holiday visa

    >I know even in the US is hard to get deported
That's because the US is shit at detecting overstays because they don't do regular exit checks.

That and there are all of the moronic sanctuary laws and shit. If you get caught overstaying you'll still get sent to a detention center for months, even if they eventually decide to let you stay. That's still getting btfo'd by SighSee standards though

        I love how OP says
        >even
in the US. Like seriously, the US is KNOWN for welcoming illegal immigrants. There are not a lot of countries that make overstaying as easy and smooth as the USA. Like you said, sanctuary cities and whatever.

I know others already told OP he is dumb, but he is extremely dumb and lost. Just visit Japan, do visa runs or whatever. Or get a proper visa.

I dont understand the mentality of overstaying a visa of a country you admire. I'd figure out how to stay there as long as possible, lawfully.

      > I'd figure out how to stay there as long as possible
Sometimes that's just impossible if you don't already meet the requirements. It might take years until you get that opportunity. The objectively quickest and safest way to get an indefinite visa is to marry a Japanese person. But not everyone wants to live in Japan as a husband.

You'll be fine OP. I've been overstaying for how long I can't even remember anymore.
Just yesterday I went to Uniqlo and I even asked for a tax refund, showed them my passport and I kept saying no habla hapon ingles go men na sai and they actually wrote it off.

Literally just apply for the visa. I don't get this. Getting the visa lets you get a bank account and a phone and all sorts of other important shit. why the frick would you gimp yourself just to dodge a little bit of paperwork?

it's pretty cheap to live in SK and flights are cheap. If you simply can't afford the 100-150 dollar round trip flight and cheapness of Korea for visa resets, you probably shouldn't be attempting long term stay in Japan.

I had a coworker that when lockdowns happen he just stayed there trying to make a life for himself. Recently he got found and is up shit creek, last I heard he had some expired work visa and was trying to play it off as he didn't know that was illegal. Haven't heard from him since.
