I'm a pussy and I'm scared of flying.

I'm a pussy and I'm scared of flying. The fear and dread start as soon as I book a ticket and just gets worse and worse. The most horrible part is when they close the plane doors and there's no escape, only certain doom approaching. Then the terribly loud engine noises start, , all kinds of beeping and shuddering, the plane lifts slowly, slowly, then turns and frightens me with the ground so unnaturally far away.

A baby starts crying, and I understand, I also a want to cry.

The rest of the flight I entertain myself with visions of a Russian S-400 system tearing the plane apart midflight, or an insane pilot crashing me into a mountain.

How do I get over fear of flying bros?

Go flying with someone in a small airplane (e.g. Cessna 152). You feel much smaller and more vulnerable, the visual cues that you are up in the air with only thin aluminum separating you and 10000 feet of air are much more obvious. You feel changes in the way the plane moves as you pass through different air currents. It makes jet aircraft seem like the equivalent of a ship compared to a kayak.

But also I think understanding how the airplane works and that it is a mechanical device which is designed for the purpose helps and that the things the plane does are all normal parts of its operation helps. The plane isn't going to just fall out of the air any more than a car is going to just randomly veer off the road by itself for no reason.

There have been less than like 6 cases of a suicidal pilot taking down the plane in a century of aviation, and most have been in shit countries where safety rules are really lax. In most countries they have one of the flight attendants go in the wienerpit when one pilot uses the bathroom just so there's never anyone alone in the wienerpit.

Idc about flying but sometimes/rarely I get the most painful headaches I’ve ever had in my life. It’s like someone told a screwdriver and jammed it down my skull. It only happens for like 10 mins but I can’t operate whatsoever during it. Every time I get i get on a flight I gamble with the worst pain of my life. Only happened twice though in over 100 flights so w/e

No shit, this sometimes happens to me too. For me the trigger is going to a prostitute at her home. It doesn't happen every time, but occasionally I get a terrible headache and I don't know what happens until I'm back outside and running away. It's really weird.
I can't tell this to my therapist because I'm embarrassed, so I told him it happens if I take a crowded bus. He suggested I take the bus more often, so I apply that to visiting prostitutes in their homes. I think it's working.

You need to learn to accept that something horrible could happen (CBT) or just find a psychiatrist who should just rx you some benzodiazepines for the flight (my preference)

You're not a pussy. You are a human being with a typical fear of flying. The easy way, is to go to a place you *want* to go, that is less than 2 hours away of total flight time and practice breathing techniques & get your mind off the fact you're flying.

It's a process of desensitizing yourself.

It sounds like a fast and easy solution would be to speak to a doctor and get some xanax or other antianxiety medication, and some sound blocking headphones. Just don't get a debilitating addiction once you realize your anxiety has been weighing on other aspects of your life and holding you back

I don't travel much but I too had a fear of flying. Doesn't help that I feel sick from all the turbulence. Keeps feeling like I'm falling and being catched again lol. The way I deal with it is by trusting God to keep me safe :3 Also I listen to music and look out of the window.

Don't be afraid. Just keep in mind that modern airplanes have a very sophisticated autopilot system... designed by Pajeet engineers paid $8/hour. You'll be fine!
