I’m going to immigrate to South Carolina from Florida in a few months. Where are the best places to live in South Carolina as a Florida expat? What should I expect of living in SC?

I love the beach and I hate diversity. Where in SC is it safe, cheap, and soulful? I was considering making an offer on a home around the Sea Islands area to Charleston area, if I can find a cheap one with a good school zone

Please I’ve been displaced from my home state from unchecked immigration from the north east and the south of the border

It's literally no different in SC, I've spent all 30 years of my life as a minority here. Local flora and fauna is 10/10 though

A little friendly state-rivalry bant is fun and a reminder of easier times, like it’s Friday Night Lights or something. At least it’s not shitlib or illegal Hispanic migrations coming to leave the shithole they created just to make yours a spitting image.

What part of Florida are you from? Are you looking for something similar to where you are or something completely different? Have you considered North Carolina as well? If so check out Sunset and Ocean Island Beach. Nice small beach towns with mainly retired white people, but avoids Myrtle Beach at all costs, that place was great in the 90s but now ghetto as frick. Lots of touristy stuff to do but not quiet at all.

I’ve lived all over florida; southwest, northeast, space coast. I like upper middle class white dominated small coastal towns or medium sized coastal cities with good school zones.

What’s the pros of NC vs SC?

NC has hipsters, rednecks, and beautiful mountains
SC is the most generic I-95 state in the union. It's safe and cheap, but definitely not soulful.

Now please stop using the travel board for your moving away from Florida fantasy jerkoff session. We all know if you do leave, you'll be back in a few years like every person I've ever known that has tried to leave Florida. You're stuck here.

SC has really special old wetland wood forests, and some nice mountains/lakes/islands too.
          NC overpriced homosexuals KEK.

The Pros really are not much better, the weather is pretty much the same. North Carolina is more of a Red/Blue state, similar to Florida. Has nice white only towns but also more laxed laws. SC is more Red, and the Bible Belt. I think a lot of dry counties still exist there. SC might be a bit cheaper too.

Also those towns you recommended look stunning, really want to visit now. Sucks about myrtle, heard it’s a ghetto

I’m not a racist person at all but I feel like everywhere is becoming shittier if you aren’t in a white people stronghold

    sc bro here

sc is a fairly depressing place to live but it's cheap and has some beautiful places. greenville is by the mountains but it's a small banking/convention city and rly has nothing else going on.

the only other place worth living is around charleston but it's one of the most expensive places in the US iirc though places like hollywood, monks' corner, and down savannah highway are pretty nice.

im from summerville so i can say a lot about the area. unfortunately just about every other town in SC is dying/dead, with exceptions of the golf courses on the beach and NY/NJ homosexuals moving down in droves

avoid myrtle beach, columbia, and beaufort

some posters here mention NC which is a nice place ( i lived in durham for 2 years). i'd recommend NC more if youre into having a future for yourself

I am staying in Durham NC now and its one of the worst cities I've lived in. I cannot imagine this being a place one would want a future in unless you were married to Duke.

Raleigh and Chapel Hill suck too.

SC at least has some charm to it.

durham is by and far the worst place i have ever lived. i spent 2 years in biotech there and spent a good half of it going to accordion, getting shitfaced, and trying to kill myself drunk driving, that place has got poison in it. also the most 'woke' place i've ever lived and the most segregated place ive ever been to in the south. savannah is almost as bad but people ain't pretending

raleigh was good before covid (great music scene and bars) but the people are ass. chapel hill is awful yeah but carbarro is still ok. it's like asheville and a meth lab in one town, rly cool.

SC is indeed charming and feels forgotten in the same way alabama does. the nature is really like nothing else if you like swamps and rivers. My only problem with SC is, like all other depressed southern states, it sucks you in and keeps you from leaving. nc and sc are haunted as hell tbh, part of the charm

if i had to live in the south (and i will probably go back), it's gonna be TN or GA

it always sucks you back... for me, it's gotta be the Broad aka the Based river and it's swamps. The last southern hideout of the indians besides the floriduh everglades

          >nc and sc are haunted as hell
Winding roads, abandoned buildings from the early 1900s, history that goes back to the 1600s, strange little cemeteries… yeah, it has an old haunted feeling to it. It gets so dark at night out there in those little towns. I remember being a little kids in eastern NC, seeing the flash from a traffic warning light four or five miles away on a dark night. I remember going into the corn fields… even at noon without a cloud in the sky in July, it still felt dark somehow. There was a house outside of town that was so old it truly looked abandoned, but there was an old woman living in who lived alone. She’d always be watching you somehow if you went by. Every time I was on my bike, I’d look for her when I rode by, but every time, she’d be staring at me before I saw her. She never moved when she watched you, or gave an indication as to what she had been doing. My folks just said she lived alone when I asked what was up with her, that’s the same answer I always got. Her yard was 100% unkept, so the grass was knee high except a 12 inch wide stone walkway. Strange thing is, I never saw it shorter than that - which means someone cut it. Grass doesn’t go knee high and then stop. Town had a lake called matamusket (spelling that wrong). It had old culverts under a road that went over the lake. A boy drowned there and his brother drowned trying to save him. Currents are a b***h. It always gave it a crappy vibe too. There were civil war markers on stones… idk.
That word haunted just got me going. Night.

            How short are you?

Most of the abandoned houses are from the 1900s turn of the century period. There are older houses that are not abandoned and have been maintained. Some of the wood goes back to the civil war era, but most gets replaced.

The little stone path was 12 inches wide, I didn’t say the grass was 12 inches tall. Anyway, it’s late, and I was just agreeing with that other guy. You sound like a dick so go suck one

Living on the border of rock hill and Charlotte. NC feels like a angry wasteland of either super rich bankers or trashy blacks. It doesn’t even feel like the south. But I love everything not Columbia in South Carolina. Gotta get down there.

I reckon this can be a carolinas general and accept north carolina inquiries

what do you guys think of two night beaufort NC and two nights ocracoke? anyone with any experience with these places? it would work out to one full day beaufort/harkers island area (wreck diving) and two full days in and around ocracoke (kite surfing one day, beach lounging the next).

any suggestions for anyone who's been out this way?
