Santa Monica Pier
Rodeo Drive in Bev Hills is a fun walk
Six Flags has the best roller-coasters on the west coast and a good water park.
The best hiking trail in Malibu is the Devil's Backbone to the Mishe Mokwa trail loop.
Go to Sierra Madre, park at Chantry Flats and hike Big Santa Anita Canyon to Sturtevant Falls, Falls. Such an amazing canyon. Go eat at Lucky Baldwin's British Pub afterwards
Some shit on my bucket list is the Fashion District in downtown LA. It's where all the Chinese and Mexican people set up shop and sell $5 dresses. There's a pizza place nearby called Pizzeria Bianco that someone mentioned in another thread that Ive been wanting to try in that area.

Not OP but sounds fun
For god's sake avoid the hollywood tourist trap hellhole.
Seconding this, and if you stick around Little Tokyo, Avenue 26 tacos sets up and they're some of the best/cheapest tacos in the city.
Also Chinatown is kind of cool,if nothing else there's Phillipe's, an old cafeteria restaurant with tasty food that claims to have invented the french dip. Nearby is Olvera street, a tourist trap for sure, but one of the oldest settled parts of LA and cool to see at least once.

That's enough for one trip
this anon's suggestions are cool. Griffith Park is awesome, though I havent been there in years and I hear parking is a pain now. The Getty is one of my favorie places in town, its free except for parking, but you have to make reservations
My favorite parts of town tend to be in the periphery. There's a lot of sketchiness around, sure, but it depends on the area. I definitely recommend the outer downtown area (Arts district, Little Tokyo, Union Station, China Town) and Grand Central Market if you can get there. Keep in mind parkinng is a bitch, and the public transportation is hellish (except for the gold line, above ground train).
Also meant to say that Arts district, Little Tokyo, Union Station, and China town are all in somewhat reasonable walking distance and would make a good day trip
For a chill beach, go to Malibu. The further north you go on route 1, the less people you'll see. For people watching at the beach, Santa Monica is good. I also really like the Manhattan Beach pier. There are a lot of good food options in Manhattan Beach near the pier and it's easier to park and get around.
The best piece of advice I can give you is not to try and drive around the city between 3-7pm. If you try to get from the Santa Monica Pier to Griffith park during that time, it would take over 2 hours to go 20 miles. Plan on getting somewhere and staying put during traffic hours.
Eat asian food. Thai, Dim Sum, Vietnamese and Korean.
If you have time, drive down to OC and go to the Wedge in Newport Beach. The waves are supposed to be good and people will be out surfing some big fucking waves. You can check out the Balboa Peninsula and rent some bikes.
ditch LA and do a day in the OC. Knotts Berry Farm during the day and then go to Medieval Times at night afterwards for dinner. Those two combined are cheaper than Disney Land.

Hope you like Mexicans
can't go wrong with food in koreatown and/or little tokyo

Vapid chud consoomer
Knotts is peak Orange County. It's the locals theme park. Sorry you don't like Snoopy or rollercoasters.
-1 for Medieval Times. That is definitely super chud.
If you're doing knottsberry, you eat at the Anaheim Packing District and then go to Strong Water afterwards.
Or you eat some pizza at Fuoco and then bar hop around downtown Fullerton afterwards.
