I've never been to Vegas, although it's my dream to go there someday. If I'm you and you are like me and a huge Elvis fan, I would go to Westgate hotel and look for places from around the time. Maybe the concert venue that seem pretty close to original. And I'm also a sucker for anything 60s/70s and I'm sure there are some neon signs or structures left in Vegas from that time. Would spend a day finding those. And filming locations maybe would be fun too.

^this. Many of the hotels and establishments that were amazing in the 80's and 90's no longer shine in the 2000's let alone today, twenty years later. You'll come across old casinos and hotels where you'll see nothing but old carpet and Boomers on the slot machines. As an older Zoomer, it really is from the past- you may get by with the more exclusive parties and clubs and even at that is ancient in itself. Its a place to visit for sure, but is nothing like how the movies portray it. You'll get lucky these days to even see an Elvis reference anywhere anymore.

Vegas is dead. It used to be a cheap degeneracy destination where you could get $20 all you can eat prime rib buffets and $1 blackjack. now its $35 for a fricking sandwich.

Where are you staying? My recommendations on the strip are Ocean One Bar & Grille for 3 drinks for 14 bucks - they also have cheap eats considering its right on the strip.

I highly recommend going to the Golden Steer if you like steak - great caesar salad too. A little pricey but worth it IMO. It's in a strip mall, but used to be a hangout for the rat pack, mafia, celebs, etc back in the 50s/60s. Cool spot.

If you want something a little lower key and like to drink I like Frankie's Tiki Room or The Golden Tiki. Frankie's is more dive bar and Golden Tiki is more "the disney of tiki bars" sort of thing.

Other than that I hang by the pools, drink, gamble, and walk around a bit at night to people watch. If you want to see a ton of talent women wise I recommend the chandelier bar or somewhere in the Wynn.

If you want to be around more trashy type shit go to Freemont street downtown and observe humanity. Cheaper limits and games...and a good chance of hanging out and chatting with random people and having fun as long as you're not a weirdo.

Ty for the tips. Staying at the flamingo. I might check out that steak house. Did a bunch of exploration today all over the strip and had some fun.

Fremont gambling isn't cheap anymore. Golden Nugget, The D, Circa are all mostly $25 minimums. Even shitty casinos like Golden Gate or Plaza have $15 mins. If you want cheap gambling you have to go to a locals casino like Ellis Island or South Point or Silver Sevens

I went last week and golden nugget had 5 dollar roulette and blackjack tables. And it was cinco de Mayo. Def recommend golden nugget also they have hot girls. Don’t try to buy weed from dispensaries on Fremont though it’s gonna be 30 dollars

          Anonymous

My dude, even the weed we bought off-strip was terrible this year (April). When I went a couple years ago the weed was legit. Even the edibles were bullshit, tasted like crap and didn't get me high at all.

          Bring your own

Meow wolf/Area 15 is okay if you want to get away from the strip for a few hours.

$15 dollar table min seems to be the new industry standard. When i started gambling my shitty river boats had $3 blackjack, then $5, then $10, now you can usually find one $10 table and the rest are $15-$25.

The casinos are super greedy and Vegas is flat out stealing from tourists now.

My home casino had $1 live dealer blackjack on Tuesday-Wednesday nights about 12 years ago. Those were the days. Take $30 and play for two hours.

I stayed at the El Cortez in April and played mostly at the D. Table minimums at Cortez were usually $15 and $10 at the D was easy to find. Also the dealers at the D were great. I'm going back to stay there in November and it's super cheap as well.

          Anonymous

El Cortez is by far the best place to gamble in vegas if you want reasonable minimums and a fun old school vegas environment. The D isn't as cheap but they have really hot dealers

Lots of off strip places that have the old Vegas vibe, tables. Plenty of food choices that aren't tourist traps on the strip. Look around for these and talk to locals about it. Locals are everywhere working - just as them what they think and tell them what you are looking for. Don't talk to the ghetto people and street hustlers unless you're looking for strip clubs and coke. If you want to get shitfaced uber down to the Golden Tiki then uber to a cheap buffet to soak up all the alcohol.

My immediate thought is that she sells title insurance. I worked in real estate and hot women dressed like that would come in every week to give presentations about their companies' services. Something like that, or she's a boof girl at some convention with an unusual interest in the product/service and fricked someone who promised to give her the mic, perhaps so she wouldn't feel like just another eye-candy boofer. She didn't pack any other clothes and that dress is the most conservative thing she has. There's always the yoga pants she wore on the plane, but the dress was a better option.

You guys have seen the MSG Sphere under construction right? I read that the Madison Square Entertainment group is going nearly broke trying to finish the thing while dealing with rising labor, and materials costs. To make the financial documents less likely to get picked up by search engines and go viral on social media, they’ve been labeling the project with the nutritional code for MSG (MonoSodium Glutamate). Search for “e621 Inflation” to see just how close the company is to bankruptcy.

I just booked a trip in August. I am looking forward to it, I go about once a year. Every year I seem to drink and gamble less. Any suggestions for a single overweight 38 year old midwestern (from a town of 300 people) dude to do for fun? Planning on renting some sort of sports car on Turo for a day and looking for some good German food. Going to see a Cirque du Soleil show too, the water one.

Hofbräuhaus in Vegas is pretty fricking great. They have live German bands every day of the week. Definitely not cheap, but super fricking fun. Might be ideal for you because the tables are communal, so you'll get to meet people at the table around you. Go on a friday or saturday night.

It's also better to go downtown to Fremont street for the vibe in you're single and alone. There are thousands of people hanging out there on the weekends drinking beer and watching the bands at night. Super easy to pick up some redneck and buy her some beers. Main Street Station on Fremont has a microbrewery in the casino with $3 beers. We always pregame there.
