>philly is kino but you need to have a high tolerance for bullshit
This. I moved to Philly from Denmark and every American was like "don't go there" but I love Philly more than any city I have been to. Yes, it has it's beautiful parts but I love the thrill and the danger and the wonderment of what is around the corner at any given moment. In Philly, I am an anthropologists - I meet people on their own terms.
Also, most people who complain about Philly never left the touristic zones anyway and those are totally safe and actually quite pretty and interesting for a US city.
Basically, if you don't have the spirit of an explorer you won't make it. The people drawn to Philly are the same people drawn to go contact a tribe in Papua New Guinea.
Philly is not safe. Ive been 4 times. In those 4 times, I saw 2 guys pull out guns and rob a homeless person after someone gave him a dollar. I saw a group of kids robbed on South Street in the middle of the day at knife point. Multiple people tried to sell me crack. I nearly got into a fistfight in a cheesecake place. We were food poisoned at a fast food restaurant. An artist pulled a hammer on us for asking him about his art. And someone tried to run us over for no reason while we were biking. All this happened in 4 days. Ive never had any shit like this happen in any city ever and I lived in Baltimore for 2 years. Philadelphia is the absolute fucking worst.

So basically Philly is first worlder's and housekid first baby bad city experience, but not the point you can't live here?
Most cities in Africa are safer than Philly. Philly, Baltimore, Kansas City, New Orleans are literally some of the most dangerous cities in the world especially when you exclude Mexico and Brazil.
>Boring (when compared to cities like NYC, LA, Miami etc. Hell even Atlanta, Houston, Chicago, SF etc. I'm not saying it's an abnormally dull place or anything like that I'm just saying it isn't a typical "fun" destination) >Pretty damn expensive for what you're getting in return. >No easy access to any great natural beauty. You can go up to Maine/NH I guess but it's definitely a long drive before you get to the good spots. It gets mogged by basically any city west of Texas and many Southern cities in that regard. >Cold. Not terribly so but the weather isn't great. >Worse in terms of crime than people realize. I wouldn't call it dangerous but if you look at the stats it's not exactly the comfy, safe college town someone might assume it is. Decent number of homeless too. >Horrible traffic. >Can't do any of the uniquely American fun shit you can legally do in western/southern states (shooting guns, offroading etc). >Kind of a weird local culture. The "Masshole" stereotype is real to some extent. Obviously that's not everyone and every place has their assholes but still, the stereotype exists for a reason. Most obnoxious sports fans in America.
I'm not shitting on Boston here because it does have its positives (top tier universities, good employment opportunities, many cultural institutions, nice city center etc) and there's nothing "wrong" with it but from a lifestyle standpoint I'm not seeing the appeal. Every time I've been to Boston for a day or two I've thought "OK this is fine...I'm ready to leave now." It's a decent place if you're well off and looking for a suburb to raise a family but I can't imagine Boston being someone's "dream" city as a single man. The only reason I could see myself being there without a wife, kids and a job that required me to be there is if I were attending Harvard/MIT.
Lived in Boston during my college years, can confirm. It's also the worst "major" city if you're looking for excitement as a young man. Nightlife? Forget about it. Last call's at 1:30am, the subway closes before that (even on weekends). If you can even afford a car within city limits, parking is exorbitantly priced and hard to find. Expect to pay $44 to keep your car in a garage for a sit-down dinner and still have to Uber to the restaurant. It's not even legal to do happy hour.
However, the dating scene is very good; in a city of 600k people, at least 50k will be coed women at the most expensive schools in all America. That's not even counting the master's students and knowledge workers drawn to the city. Including pic related. The city attracts high-quality young poon from all over the world, though of course it can't compare to cities like New York or London.
In fact, Boston is not really a city at all. It's more of a glorified large town. It's the 24th largest city in the country, even fucking Indianapolis is bigger. It rises to 11th when you take into account all the suburbs in the surrounding area, where there's nothing to do. Boston is not as large as you'd think for a city with its cultural and economic capital. It punches far above its weight in terms of the food scene and other cultural attractions. But once you've been there a year or two, you'll have seen it all. You won't constantly be discovering new things like you could in a real city like New York.
There's nothing to do apart from work, pay overpriced rents/mortgages, buy expensive things, and raise a few kids in a city that's decently safe by American standards. The employment and educational opportunities are world-leading, but they're all the place has going for it. It's an open-air bagne for the upper middle class.
>A hyper liberal enclave in arguably America's most liberal state where every girl is expecting to go off to some prestigious university once they turn 18 is a really great place to meet conservative tradwaifus.
Nice time with a lot of great stops but after 3-4 days there's no real draw to the city. It's really boring and has retarded laws that criminalize fun american shit to do. Last call is indeed 1:30AM on weekends, public transport has its train stop at 2AM on weekends (so if you leave at last call you'll realistically have maybe 1 or 2 trains to catch if youre lucky). Club scene sucks as well but you can at least get a good amount of hot young girls because of colleges bringing in a steady influx of new 18 year olds from all over the world every single year. The North End (little Italy) is also comfy af.
Living in Boston is expensive as fuck, and not really worth it. You're better off going to Denver if you want something similar because skinnier women, similar politics but not as retarded, kino nature right by the city and the same high cost of living.

Philadelphia is arguably the worst city in the US. I have never been to a more disgusting crime ridden city in my life.
I once stepped in human shit going to see the Liberty Bell. Philly sucks

The small towns around it are great places to meet conservative virgin top tier white women. One of the few left in the country

apparently there's a dude that dismembered women in kensington PA, and left their bodies in a meat locker. why is there no mainstream news about this?
Philly is 10x better
I live there. If you’re a normie with friends you should be fine. I personally hate it cause it’s cold as shit and there’s barely any joy in the air.
For 6 months in the summer. The rest is miserably cold.
